When ordering online for delivery I was unable to customize the order like I do with some other local Mexican restaurants. I didn't have the option to add certain toppings (shredded cheese, lettuce, tomato, black beans, sauteed peppers, onions, sour cream, guacamole, tomatillo salsa, etc.). So our Mexican meals were a bit bland than what we are typically used to (but still decent). Four tiny ounces of guacamole cost $9 just because it included a few nacho chips. I didn't need to have the chips. Guacamole is a Mexican dining staple. Customers should be able to get a small side order of guacamole for half around $5. Our delivery didn't even include packets of hot sauce. Good thing I had some in my fridge. read more

Stopped by for their happy hour and tried their tamarindo, maracuya, and Mexican mule. For food I tried the avocado tosada, carnitas taco, and birria fries. The drinks were delicious, def low shelf tequila but it was happy hour so beggars can't be choosers. Now the food, the avocado on the tostado tasted old or store bought. The Parmesan cheese on top was an interesting choice, a Mexican cheese would be better. I really enjoyed the carnitas taco but I did get a fatty piece (which I love) and know that others don't. The birria fries were okay. The melty cheese was the best part but the birria and consome tasted like Trader Joe's. There was no depth in its flavor and needed seasoning. Overall, the vibe seemed to mirror Bar Taco, just more island-y resembling Tulun. The service was great, everyone was friendly and attentive. This just isn't a place I would think about going back to again, unless it was locally convenient to grab drinks before going somewhere else for food. read more

My boyfriend and I visited Masa for their Stamford Restaurant Week lunch menu and it was great! We both got our own serving of chips and guac, with our main meal being 3 tacos (with protein of our choosing for each) that came with a small side of rice and beans. Just moved to Stamford and upon walking the town we saw this place was packed so figured it was a must try and have to say we were not disappointed (even on a Friday night). We got the last two person table next to the loudest group of drunk folk in the place but after having a flight of margaritas to split we could see ourselves getting to their level, they definitely do not skimp on the alcohol, we (and our server) would say this is the best bang for your buck. Our food was taking a while and our server brought a complimentary order of chips + guac which was delicious. We love when you can break the chips from the tortillas, always adds a nice touch, guac was also very good. For entrees, my boyfriend got the duck emolada (as he is a big duck fan) and he loved it. His facial expressions said it all as he tried to shovel his second bite into my mouth to prove how surprised and good it was. To note the menu said two emoladas but he got three, possibly because of how long it took or they just had extra in the back. Either way it was very good but knowing it only comes with two and he may not have ordered it next time as he needs his protein. We split the queso fundido which was underwhelming as it did not have much chorizo and was mostly peppers. Less of a soupy cheese and harder melted cheese, probably would not get this again. The tinga chicken and al pastor tacos were good on the portions but a bit dry. Overall, would mostly come back for the drinks and a small meal but not for a full dinner. read more

Loved dining at Masa Taco bar! Was excited for this place to open and had such a great experience. Firstly, the customer service here is on point. Our server gave us some great suggestions. We started off with the margarita flight which I recommend! My favorite was the tamarind. The tacos and apps were also really great. They have a nice vibe here going with the Latin music. Also tends to get pretty busy on Friday nights. I only wish they had hooks for bags or jackets near the bar or high tables. This spot will definitely be in my rotation of favorite places to eat! read more

I've been coming since they opened. Friendly staff. Tacos are amazing. The apps are awesome. Main complaint was they switched up a lot. My favorite dish was the aguachile But they changed it numerous times. My favorite version was the big bowl of it with the crispy tostadas on the side. Last time I went it was just a spoonful on one tostada which bummed me out because it's sooooo dam good. Still like the place , the steak and the chorizo tacos stood out. We were there for restaurant week, menu was great, too good to be true. When we got there it was 8:45 pm, kitchen closes soon was the first thing we were told, it was last call. Surprised us considering that online it says they close at 10pm. My partner asked if we could still order, and that was the case so we did the restaurant week. We ordered margaritas, one original and the other spicy, I loved my spicy margarita with Tajin, super delicious. If it's for happy hour, count me in, I will be back for that margarita. We also had the maduros and guacamole and chips for appetizers. They were small portions and I guess it's restaurant week size. Our entrees, well my jardín salad with pollo asado was great, add some radish and it would be excellent. Unfortunately my husband's pork belly al pastor left a lot to desire. If it was a left a little longer to cook and crispen up, it would be great. Unfortunately, he only ordered these type of tacos, it left him pretty disappointed. The rice and beans that was served with it was okay. The churros for dessert were decent, it could have had more cinnamon sugar, but the tres leches was legit and delicious. That tasted pretty authentic, yum! Overall, it was not bad, but if they fixed those couple of things, it would make a great difference, especially that pork belly... a little more chicharrón style would make it so much better. I got Lunch there, ordered 2 spicy chicken tinga tacos, 1 carne asada, and 1 of the mushroom tacos. LITERALLY THE BEST TINGA IVE EVER HAD! Not too spicy, just the right amount. Amazing. The Mushroom Taco took me by surprise! When I'm in a new city/restaurant, I always like to order something that is out of my usual norm. Very yummy, I recommend pairing with the pineapple salsa! Carne asada was okay but I bet the birria ones are better. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5 After eating all of the tacos, I had trouble picking between the tinga and the mushroom tacos as my favorite. One of my favorite spots in stamford. I've come here with my husband and we love the tacos. Their cocktails are great and vibe over all is chill and servers always checked on us to make sure we were good. I have ordered Uber Eats from here and food was delivered warm and tasty. Amateur operation from the get go. Service was a shit show, as follows: 1.waiter auctions off drinks, this means he brings the drinks to the table without knowing who ordered what , so he askes " who gets the----? This is auctioning in restaurant speak. Amature hour. Also the drinks were poorly crafted. 2.Waiter never touched our table, this means he never checks on his table after the initial order. 3. no sequence of service- appetizers came with main course. REALLY. 4. no delineated jobs( bus girl making drinks and delivering food. This is called unorganized service, no one knows what their teammates are doing. These are service points you learn as you work thru the ranks to become a server obviously our waiter trained as a mechanic. Too bad the food is passable & inexpensive. read more

Love this new spot in Stamford. The staff were all very attentive and friendly. The space is gorgeous. The food was absolutely delicious. We got one of each taco and were extremely happy. Pure delight from start to finish at this new eatery on Broad Street in downtown Stamford. It's on a stretch of downtown that is in dire need of new and trendy restaurants. Masa Taco Bar fits the bill. It's a bit similar to BarTaco a popular restaurant on summer street but it's actually better and very affordable. The server, chef, bus boy were all pleasant and helpful and on this Friday evening the place was hopping which is a very good sign. The margaritas were exceptional and each menu item we chose (tacos, flautas, guacamole, plantains, and churros) were simply delicious. The ambiance is cool with the grill on one side and a bar on the other but with seats on both sides. Many patrons seemed to be residents of downtown and likely the new building the Asher which is a block away. Masa Taco is a goldmine and I will be back regularly. read more

I had the pork belly al pastor burrito, and was happily satisfied with the results. A reasonable price for a nicely meal-sized burrito, not a mini serving and not a food challenge.
