    Cuban sandwich
    Cecilia M.

As a Cuban from Miami, I make it point to try Cuban sandwiches whenever I run into one while traveling. It's all in the pork and Mexi-Cuban Cravings' was flavorful and tender. Ingredients were simple and just the way they should be. Pressed flat and not with a panini! Yes it makes a difference! Only thing missing was the Cuban bread, but some people would find this roll an upgrade lol. Cuban breads seems like a thing only Cubans in Cuba and Miami find beautifully nostalgic. A love not shared by many, so I get it! Customer service was friendly and prompt. Definitely will pass by again when in town. Good luck with everything guys!

The carnitas tacos were fantastic. I can't wait to go back and try the Cuban sandwich.

The guacamole and chips was a little meh. The chips were 5 stars, incredible homemade chips. However the guacamole was far from fresh and at $8 for a reasonably small serving of guacamole, I expect it to not look as though it's been sitting unrefrigerated all day, which is what ours looked like. Browned and not tasting fresh and also not fresh like the guacamole on my Yam bowl. So I recommend staying away from the guacamole to go since you can't really quality check it easily.

It's a small spot with a classic mom-and-pop vibe, which we really enjoyed. We ordered the yam tacos and a chicken quesadilla. The service was friendly, though the food did take quite a while to come out. Once it did arrive, everything was very good and definitely hit the spot. Overall, we liked the food and would return. However, make sure to check your bill before leaving. We didn't notice until afterward that our total for tacos, a quesadilla, and two waters came to $44.02. My husband ordered his quesadilla plain and asked if the usual toppings (salsa, guacamole, and sour cream) came with it and could be put on the side. We were told they were included--but we were still charged extra for each topping, adding almost $5 to our bill. While the food and service were good and we'd go back, being charged extra for items that were supposed to come with the meal was disappointing. Just be sure to review your check closely so you don't end up with unnecessary upcharges.

They take no shortcuts here, and make their scratch sauces and condiments in-house. I had the huevos rancheros 'Christmas' style, with both green tomatillo and red chipotle sauce. YUM. They really should bottle that stuff! Hubs ordered the blackstone benedict, featuring their poblano cream sauce. Absolutely outstanding! Even the classic muffin, egg, bacon and cheese breakfast sandwich was tasty. They also serve great coffee, freshly roasted just down the block at their sister shop, Nest. To help, I decided to get my own syrup. Then I asked the cook for butter; he threw it into my hand, which triggered a reaction in a disabled veteran. I asked him if he meant to throw it, and he told me to go sit down, which I did not do. He said he would call the police, and I told him, "Call them." I asked for a refund since I had not touched the food. I was told no, and I recorded everything, including videos and pictures of the server and the man who threw the butter, who refused to refund my money. I contacted my bank about a fraudulent charge since I never touched the food. They are investigating and have access to the pictures and videos. Never again, and I recommend whoever is reading this not to spend their money, especially if you are brown.

Made my way here for dinner one night. They have a super cute patio but I went inside to sit at the bar. Bartender was great and the menu looked amazing! I adore elote and that was a special on the menu so I got that and the special prickly pear margarita. I then followed with tacos - the al pastor (which they said they sold out of all the time) and the special sweet potato/jalapeno taco, and a paloma. This has got to be the fastest service I have ever experienced lol! Legit 2 min after placing my elote order, it came right out. And the same thing happened with my tacos so I'm glad I spaced them and didn't order everything at once haha. The elote was delicious as were the tacos! I can see why the al pastor sells out all the time, and the sweet potato/jalapeno was sooooooo good and had the perfect amount of spice with the jalapenos! Both my drinks were tasty and refreshing! If I lived in Burlington close to this spot, I would probably eat here several times per week. Awesome neighborhood joint for good eats and drinks!

My neighbors & I are woken by blaring contemporary music. I'm not a fan but let's be honest it's probably not considered the most banging music of all time. The car will be on its way soon & I can go back to sleep. Right? Nope! The music continues blaring, so I'm up now. I see a text from my neighbor. He's pretty unhappy and reports the music is coming from a food truck. One of the gentlemen in my building went outside to investigate where the music was coming from & discovered it's the El Gato Cantina food truck bumping his music from a sub. He says a guy working in the truck told him to eff-off. I guess contemporary music can be banging cuz it's certainly rocking my bedroom windows. And the people who vibe out to it aren't calm sweet souls. It's pouring rain, I get my dog suited up & we head outside for a morning wee. Upon walking outside I realize just how loud this sound system is & I decide to kindly ask them to turn down the music. Maybe a female will get a different response. I knock on the open front door. There's a man holding a broom. I ask "Can u plz turn that down, it's not even 9AM sir" This rude entitled jerk waves his hand at me as if I'm a gnat, and responds. " yeah yeah, get the F out of here." I respond with, "sir This is our neighborhood and you woke many of us up can u plz turn it down." I walked away. I have no desire to hang around to see what other profanity he's planning to throw my way. I waited a good 10 minutes or so and when the music kept blaring, I stood in front of his truck and called SAPD. He turned it down before the cruiser got there. But seriously? This is how your business treats our community? You expect us to want anything to do with your business? Honestly, stay in Burlington/Essex with that nonsense. Saint Albans at 7:30 AM on a Saturday morning is not the place for you. This business is not in it to serve our community. I highly recommend giving this food truck a pass.

Just look for the shiney silver exterior. We got there late around 8:30 PM and were quickly reminded that they closed at 9. The place was hopping and even though they were in a hurry to get us moving we didn't have our order taken for atleast 10-15 minutes. We started with chips and salsa and my son said "it was the best salsa he's ever had". The chips were fresh, tasty and gluten free. I got a chorizo buritto and it was large, filled with beans and rice and great tasting. My son went with the chicken enchiladas which he devoured quickly. I believe my wife ordered their enchiladas. Overall, the food was great and flavorful, service wasn't the best and we felt rushed to leave. The kicker, and this may be due to the close proximity to Church St, is our bill was around $80 (which included two drinks). It's way to pricey for some chicken, rice and beans, etc.
