Tacos are my favorite food group so imagine my absolute delight when I just got into town for the first time and discovered this cute taco shop practically across the street from my Airbnb! Made my way here for dinner one night. They have a super cute patio but I went inside to sit at the bar. Bartender was great and the menu looked amazing! I adore elote and that was a special on the menu so I got that and the special prickly pear margarita. I then followed with tacos - the al pastor (which they said they sold out of all the time) and the special sweet potato/jalapeno taco, and a paloma. This has got to be the fastest service I have ever experienced lol! Legit 2 min after placing my elote order, it came right out. And the same thing happened with my tacos so I'm glad I spaced them and didn't order everything at once haha. The elote was delicious as were the tacos! I can see why the al pastor sells out all the time, and the sweet potato/jalapeno was sooooooo good and had the perfect amount of spice with the jalapenos! Both my drinks were tasty and refreshing! If I lived in Burlington close to this spot, I would probably eat here several times per week. Awesome neighborhood joint for good eats and drinks!

Amazing taco place! The margarita was really great as well. We walked in and got a seat right at the bar. They have a large deck area as well, which would be great in the summer. I got a couple different tacos and they were both really good. My favorite was the special brisket one. Def worth a stop!

This is not a fancy place and it's not in a fancy part of town but get past that and you'll enjoy great drinks and excellent tacos. And yes, you CAN have excellent tacos in Burlington Vermont. We arrived ahead of their opening at 5:00 pm and were one of the first tables in. When I left at 6:30, the queue was down the block and in the rain. Yes, these tacos are that excellent. I went with a variety - one chicken, one asada and one carnitas. With it, a local beer that was served cold and went well. Served street taco style - double tortillas and topped with cilantro and onions, the carnitas was good and the chicken was good but the carne asada was fabulous. The beef was tender and flavorful and there was plenty of it. Friendly service and an industrial feel with tables and chairs that don't match. And that's okay because it's all about the food at Taco Gordo. [Review 1656 of 2024 - 145 in Vermont - 22679 overall]

Pretty tasty food, I remember it being more expensive than I thought. Very filling and the meat had so much flavor. Everything tasted so fresh!

I absolutely love this place. The tacos are fresh, cheap and delicious; the drinks are divine. I have been here twice and it's always excellent. The al pastor sells out quickly (and it makes total sense-it's that good), the brisket and tinga are also delicious. All the meats are tender and juicy. The chips are fresh and warm and the salsa is pureed versus chunky and homemade. The guacamole is excellent and made also in-house. The N/A Tepache fresh pineapple soda is refreshing. The 2-3 person boozy drink name and flavor changes all the time, but is well worth the price. The beers are cheap; $3-4 although you can spend up to $8. It's a no frills, perfect place to get some fairly authentic Mexican grub.

When I visited Burlington, I did not expect to have such amazing tacos, yet here we are months later and I'm still raving about them. We were lucky enough to stay across the street from Taco Gordo, which made it a no brainer to come here after tying one on. Wow! These were some damn good tacos. I ordered the chorizo, Al pastor and tinga - all 3 rocked my world. In fact, my buddy who lives in TX couldn't stop talking about how good these tacos were. They have a convenient take out only window and let you mix and match tacos, which is sadly less common than you might think. Prices are totally worth it for what you get. I will go out of my way to come back the next time I'm in Burlington.

Tacos... in Vermont. Good Service and Sauces, would've enjoyed their other options of meats but they ran out. "That's all I gotta say about that"

$5 for the tiniest little guacamole-to-go you can imagine. $9 for the tiniest little margarita-to-go you could imagine. No wonder they staple the bag shut when you get take-out, because they don't want you to look inside it and give them a wtf response. Twenty-three dollars plus tax and tip, down the drain! We would have demanded a refund but got too far by the time we opened the bag.

A hair overpriced but it's hands down the best taco and burrito joint in Burlington. Flavorful food, strong cocktails.

Never been to Burlington.... how dog friendly is this establishment? Is there outside seating?

Not dog friendly except outdoor seating. But most outdoor seating is taken. We had to wait outside for out food to-go bc they told us they couldn't serve us.

First of all, if you fancy some drinks, looks like they have some good options. Most of their items are items are gluten free except the burritos. The portion size is good, and the meat was flavorful and tender on tostada. For dessert, we had the Buñuelos which is also gluten free. It was soft and fluffy, went really well with the dulce de leche sauce. Check it out if you are in Burlington.

If you're looking to escape the crowds of Church St. this little place lies east along Bank St…read more It's got a great vibe with a diner or railcar feel. Just look for the shiney silver exterior. We got there late around 8:30 PM and were quickly reminded that they closed at 9. The place was hopping and even though they were in a hurry to get us moving we didn't have our order taken for atleast 10-15 minutes. We started with chips and salsa and my son said "it was the best salsa he's ever had". The chips were fresh, tasty and gluten free. I got a chorizo buritto and it was large, filled with beans and rice and great tasting. My son went with the chicken enchiladas which he devoured quickly. I believe my wife ordered their enchiladas. Overall, the food was great and flavorful, service wasn't the best and we felt rushed to leave. The kicker, and this may be due to the close proximity to Church St, is our bill was around $80 (which included two drinks). It's way to pricey for some chicken, rice and beans, etc.
