I've been here several times this year and it never disappoints. Locals recommended it, or I'd have been dubious based on the name. They're a regional chain and the one in Sweetwater is my other favorite. They have "real" cane sugar Cokes, Jalisco fruit drinks, and they always have my takeout order ready when I arrive. Sakara was popular (see pic) waiting for me outside, and it also has the feeeeel of a Mexican food place. Honestly I've gotten wings more than Mexican food here. They do wings the way I like them, a little cronch, a lot of sauce, and all of the fixin's. I love a good torta and the chorizo + Asada burrito is a great meal. read more

Came in at 4:30p for a quick meal. There was two other table with customers who already had their food. I thought it would be a fast in and out. Server showed up quickly, I place my order for nachos, and I waited...and waited...and waited some more. It took 30 minutes to get my food. The cook was relaxing watching tv rather than cooking my food. The food is good but the waiting for the food to come out is terrible. read more

The food is excellent and the wild are great. My issues with them is getting orders I call in correct. Almost every single time they get it wrong so I've learned to check it before leaving. DO NOT ORDER ON LINE!! It charged me then cancelled the order then said try again so I did and it charged me AGAIN. I finally went inside and ordered. Owner said it would be refunded by Monday but that was Friday and I still have no refund. Owner said to come to store but that's over 40 miles round trip! Food is great just don't order online and check your order before driving home 20 plus miles. read more

For middle of nowhere Athens TN which is inundated with Mexican joints I found the food here passable at best. Portions wee adequate and he location is sound. just outside a college campus cheap eats will thrive. Cheap is the proper way to describe this establishment. The best part of my meal was the basket of nacho chips brought gratis to every dine in customer. The chips saved the day because my 2 taco combo was made with stale taco shells I turned them into nachos at my table. The hot wings were edible but not hot although the were served hot so I am pretty sure I won't get a bacteria infection later. Cheap is the theme here but it is a cute place and it serves a purpose. I did wind up eating most of what they put in front of me and it wasn't horrible but given the limited choices in the Athens area and the laundry list of other Mexican places I would return to Mexi Wings. read more

So happy I found this place. I'm still learning about Athens, so when I put this place into my GPS & it was only 3 miles away, I was there! I called in an order, previously eaten at the Mexi WING 2, & numerous other Mexican restaurants, I had a good idea of what they offer. No menu was found online. I grabbed a to -go menu while I was there. I like trying new things, but this time I got the shredded chicken chimichanga. Can't go wrong with a deep fried burrito. I think I'll try the grilled chicken next time bc the shredded was a bit too dry. I will also ask for more cheese. They obviously added some cheese but it must've all soaked up into my rice & burrito. I wished there were more. The rice was good but the beans could use more flavoring. Salt maybe. I loved that they give you guacamole as a topping without the added charge. The salsa was great, but a few chips in the batch were super stale. Service was lacking just a little. Idk if it was a slow boring night but the clerk was not super friendly. I'll def be back soon. Can't beat a 5 minute trip for good Mexican food. We've gotten their wings numerous times & they are fantastic. Sometimes a bit small but tasty. read more

A little hole-in-the-wall restaurant with great Mexican food. The staff is always very friendly and polite. The food is fresh and authentic. I can only speak for the Mexican part of the menu, as I've never tried any of their chicken wings. The absolute best chimichangas! The staff are great, the cooks are regular, so you always know the food quality will be high.

We have been told by many that this quaint little hole in the wall offers some of the best chicken wings around, so we headed that way to see for ourselves. You can tell it's locally owned and ran on a tight budget. From the mix and match furniture to the small child of a waitress, running around dragging his blankie, sucking on a pacifier. Neither were problems, but I have concerns about someone that small possibly getting knocked over and injured. Let's talk about the grub. We ordered the extra hot wings and they did not disappoint. Good sized, meaty and the sauce had a good sting. The chips and salsa provided while waiting were just as good. The waitress was prompt and pleasant. One big complaint though, the pitcher of margaritas were not much more than sweet and sour mix. When we asked the waitress if there was tequila in it, she asked if we wanted more. I don't know if it was a language understanding or what, but it seemed like a properly made margarita was available only if you questioned the initial order. Will we go back? Probably not make the 80 mile round trip on purpose, but if hungry and in the area, sure, we will try 'em again. read more
