My boyfriend's favorite spot for Mexican is Mexican Village in SW Detroit! I met him here for lunch! Of course I had to have a margarita!!! I think that's a prerequisite for dining in a Mexican restaurant! lol We both ordered off the lunch menu and the food was good! Our waitress messed our order up a few times but quickly made it right! There are so many great spots in the area...you've gotta check them all out!

We were seated immediately on a Wednesday evening so that was great. Staff was nice sometimes a little busy so we had to flag them down but still nice nonetheless. Food wasn't bad. Salsa wasn't as seasoned/tasty as I would have liked or accustomed to. They are very generous on giving additional condiments on the side of your choice.

The 1st 2 pics are from years ago. This review is for cinco de mayo '25 Came here specifically for seafood chimichangas, but they arent sold here anymore, so im extremely disappointed in the beginning. Ordered shrimp fajitas bc that's the closest I could get. Complementary serving of chips and salsa were delivered after I ordered. I assumed (correctly) the dish w/ the spoon was spicy. No napkins available. Waitress was actually running quite a bit back into the kitchen. Fajitas brought out sizzling. I forgot to say no beans & guacamole (they weren't listed as sides), so beans were touching my rice, but the guac was in a separate container. I could only make & eat 2 fajitas before i was full & i ate all the rice. Everything tased good.

This restaurant has been in this neighborhood as long as I can remember. The dining room is nicely appointed and clean with some nice decorations throughout. Went here for lunch on a Friday afternoon. We were seated right away and the server was quick to the table for our drink order, which was Modelo Negra on tap, very nice. Ordered the flautas, soft tacos and seafood enchiladas. The meal came with free chips and salsa. The food was adequate, not great, but all were satisfied with their meals. This was a good value as lunch with drinks for 3 people was only $35.00. I would definitely recommend trying Mexican Village in Detroit.

Came across this place while looking for somewhere to eat in the area and the big parking lot drew me in after driving down Michigan Ave and finding no street parking in front of those restaurants. We got seated right away here. The menu had a lot of great options, including a some vegetarian ones! The portions were pretty big here and we all enjoyed our meals!

Your food is always good and service is fast. We go there as as a family at least once a month just to socialize and comfortable with children a great family place to take someone to eat.

Mexican Village is a classic Mexican restaurant located on Bagley. We opted for some tasty margaritas & some appetizers. The service and ambiance brought me right back to Mexico.

Everything was perfect! My friend and I didn't get there until 8:30pm and they close at 9pm. One young lady wasn't happy but our waitress was cool and the woman that was cleaning up and sat us was sweet. The food was delicious!!! The fajitas walking by looked amazing!!! Everyone was enjoying their food including us!! Great service and yummy food even at the last minute!!

Chicken quesadillas. You won't miss the cheese you're expecting here: the chicken, onion, and peppers are that good.

I used to think that all the restaurants in Mexican Town were basically the same. It's not true. Some places are about what you would expect to find anywhere. But, Mexican Village has a big edge in quality over those places. The first indication of the quality in store is when bowls of spectacularly crispy chips are set down, along with hot and mild salsa. Free refills are also allowed. You will want to buy a bag of these to take home with you. They are far better than anything you can get at the supermarket, and better than most Mexican restaurants. I ordered chicken quesadillas, which were not what you expect. Instead of massive amounts of cheese pressed between tortillas with a few flecks of chicken, this is fresh chicken with substantial amounts of fresh peppers and onion. No cheese. Did they mess up my order? No...a traditional quesadilla has a variety of different ingredient options. This was truly outstanding. Service was amazingly quick, prices are reasonable, and it's always a treat to have a meal in such a beautiful setting. Take a close look at the bricks along the wall as you walk in. Each of the hundreds of bricks has a pattern or a picture or a name carved into or painted on it. Just one of many things to love about Mexican Village.

What can I say! If you are looking for Mexican in the Detroit area... this is the place! Always a great meal and service! It can get busy but the wait moves pretty quickly! I highly recommend this place for some great Mexican in Detroit !!

As an old time standard, it's remarkable how this place is up kept. Still very fresh and clean and friendly. It was very busy, but the waitress was still very helpful and kind. So many times in a rushed atmosphere the wait staff get frustrated so they must be treated very well, because our waitress was a joy. The food is always plentiful hot fresh and delicious. I'm so glad that this place never loses it's appeal.

Enchiladas My friend liked this a lot I didn't ask him for a bite :)

Ate here for the first time in several years and I thought to myself this place used to be better! Is that true or have I since then have tried other places that are better? Either way, I'd give them a 3.5 but I'm rounding up to a 4. There's nothing special about this restaurant TBH. The chips and salsa are average (too small of a bowl tho), my a la carte items were good but not drool worthy, my friend did really like his enchiladas and my other friend liked his botana. I do have to say their margaritas were pretty good tho! The service was decent too. This is not the place I'd die to come back to but it's good enough!

Great food! The fried ice cream was amazing. 2 close parking lots. The building has a lot of character. The staff was attentive and helpful. Will be back. PS: Great iced tea!

Heads up; it's cash only (atm with $3 fee in the building) and 1 bill per table. I ordered 5 quesadillas to sample the different meats. I'll go from best to worst. The cabeza was rich, but not too overpowering which I've experienced before. No fat either which was great. The asada had a nice flavor and was perfectly tender. The pollo was equally flavorful and tender. All 3 get an A grade. The carnitas was pretty good, but not as tender as the others. Solid B. Finally, the pastor was a bit underwhelming. Simply too saucy to fully enjoy it. A C grade on that. Only negative would be how greasy they were. The tortillas were absolutely drenched in grease which wasn't great. Overall, a solid experience. Wish I would've degreased the tortillas more.

The restaurant is small and unassuming, the star of the show is the food and service! The food was standard, the portions were nice and the prices are very reasonable, but be prepared to pay cash. I've been in the restaurant business for more years than i care to admit and i must say the staff were amazing! I was really impressed with how well they all worked together. You could tell they enjoy supporting each other and it was so refreshing to witness, and that tells me about the "culture" of the establishment. The leadership is doing something right! Thanks for a wonderful experience!

The food here is amazing. The birria tacos were packed with flavor, and at $2.50 each, they're an unbeatable deal. But the real star for me was the burrito--this thing had to weigh at least a pound! It wasn't just massive; it was packed with huge flavor. I went with al pastor for my protein, and it was absolutely delicious, perfectly seasoned and cooked.
