    lunch with our group

I was looking for a tour primarily to see the Chichen Itza and saw this particular one also offered a City visit to Valladolid and a Cenote. The reviews were also good and so I went for it. On 7/14/23 we were picked from our Tulum hotel by our tour guide, Alejo and driver, Victor. Alejo was fluent in both Spanish and English and was very outgoing and pleasant. He was thoughtful enough to bring us a pastry and bananas as our tour started so early in the morning. Water was already included. We stopped by first at a souvenir shop which was clean and had good bathroom. Then we headed to our first site which was the Chichen Itza and Alejo was very knowledgeable not only about its history but in a lot of other things. And being that we were only a small group tour, he was able to interact with each one of us and vice versa which was great and made us feel some sort of camaraderie and safety with each other. Fast forward so this review isnt too long, we had a very good lunch at El Meson Del Marques which was one of the oldest Spanish houses there now turned to a hotel and had time by ourselves to stroll the city of Valladolid. Love the Choco story he recommended as I love sweets lol We saw the their park and the Church of San Servacio. Last but not the least, we then headed to Cenote Xux-Ha. A cenote wasnt really top of my list for some reason but after all that touring we were actually looking forward to take a swim and cool down. On arrival I was absolutely in awe! this cenote in particular was amazingly, naturally beautiful! My jaw pretty much dropped when I saw the place. I took so many photos and just basked in its beauty. It felt almost surreal. As I was floating on that still clear blue waters, looking at the up at the cavern, I just thought that this place is just breathtaking. I felt so blessed to be able to see and experience it. We really had such an awesome time and learned so much. Alejo knew almost every single answer to our group's questions and shared his knowledge to us enthusiastically! We all had an amazing day. I highly recommend this tour and our guide Alejo! thank you!!

We splurged and did a private cenote tour - it was 100% worth it. Pablo was an excellent guide, fun to speak with and knowledgeable. Totally recommend this experience and would book with them again!

My wife and I did the "Snorkeling with Caribbean fish and private cenote exploration" tour with Carlo. He was a great guide. There were 6 people on the tour plus the guide. Moderate physical exertion is required and there are some small confined areas to navigate in the cenote caves. Bring a day bag with light snacks and water to hold you over until lunch. Ziplock or water proof bag recommended for boat and cenote if you want pictures but you can leave everything in the van if you want.

We did the bike ride and 3 Cenote tour with Zip Line. It was our favorite excursion we have ever done! Highly recommended. Bug spray for the bike ride is NEEDED. Our tour guide was Pablo. He is the best!

My partner and I did the Cenote Trail Bike Tour while in Tulum this past August. We got really lucky because although we booked a group excursion, being a Wednesday in the offseason, we had a private tour with Luigi. During the tour, you visit 3 totally different Cenotes and bike to each of them, inclusive of a meal at this beautiful Eco retreat. I cannot recommend this activity more! Luigi was a wonderful guide, informative and patient, and he was enthusiastic about taking photos of us to remember our outing! It was wonderful to spend half of the day with him, learning more about Tulum, the underground river systems, the local lifestyle and the lot. When I return to Tulum, I will 100% be using Mexico Kan Tours again.

The second cenote!!!! You visit! A huge bridge that you get to jump off!

We did the Chitchen Itza tour with Luigi and it was such a wonderful experience! They picked up from our AirBnB on time and on the way there, Luigi explained some of the Mayan history and about the Yucatan peninsula. The weather wasn't great, but it served in our favor since Chitchen Itza wasn't that crowded. Luigi offered to take our pictures and was the best guide! Lunch was provided and was delicious and then we got some time to explore Valladolid. The last and best part was visiting Cenote Xux Ha. So beautiful and it was just our group too! Definitely worth it!

Cannot say enough good things about my experience using Mexico Kan Tours. Everyone was super friendly and I loved the people we met on our tour. I felt like we got to truly see a lot in one full day and was convenient being dropped and picked up at our hotel vs trying to meet at a random location like the other tour groups. This was the World wonder tour but would love to try some of the others!

it was such a pleasure to have Alberto as my tour guide . there were so many places I would have never discovered if it wasn't for him. found this place walking on the street so I had to read the yelp reviews. glad I purchased one of the tours. this was an experience I'll never forget.

Alberto was a very knowledgeable tour guide when it came to the history of the tour, it added a lot of value and interest! The lunch was an awesome, unexpected in terms of the vibes and quality. I loved that Al played podcasts relating to the history of the tour while we drove. It made the drive so much more enjoyable. The only constructive feedback would be that the tour could totally skip the "shopping" portion. The specific area just didn't offer anything noteworthy. Loved the cenote and ruins, a must see! The AC is never cold enough for us spoiled Americans, so I think including some reusable ice packs during the drive to cool the skin would be awesome.

The tour we did with Mexico KAN Tours was by far one of the most amazing tours we've done...and if I had more time I would of done many more tours with them! . This tour was small with myself, my husband and one more guest. Our guide, Said, picked us up at the hotel in the Zona Hotelera of Tulum right at the time we were told the pickup would be. His car was cozy and his driving was fantastic. He would tell many stories about where we were going and what we were going to see. He also spoke about the importance of preserving the local flora and fauna and brought fresh fruit for snacks, homemade granola bars, and aluminum water bottles for everyone so that we would not use plastic anything to harm the planet. He encourages us to buy souvenirs form the Mayan families instead of the tourist zones so that the money would go back to the people, which we 100% agreed with and did. Our fist stop was the Ancient City of Cobá. We brought in our water bottles with us with cold water and began walking with Said. He gave us the history of the ruins, the Mayan people, the ball game, and the hieroglyphs there. Once inside the city, there are bicycles you can use to get to the rest of the ruins which would of been a far walk. He rode with us to make sure we didn't get lost and continued to stop along the way to Nohoch Mul to tell us about the sites we were looking at. Once we got to Nohoch Mul, the largest Mayan temple/pyramid in the Yucatan, Said told us he would meet us again at the front in a little over an hour to head to our next destination, and told us where the most beautiful view of the jungle would be once we reached the top of the temple. Climbing the temple was not easy, but not impossible. It is hot! And very steep. But once at the top, the views were undeniably the most amazing jungle views ever seen. Coming down, I recommend sitting down and grabbing the rope as it is very steep and very slippery at some parts. From there, Said took us to our next stop, a family owned area called Otoch Ma'ax Yetel Kooh and Punta Laguna. We saw many spider monkeys up in the trees and were explained the importance of what is done here to protect them. We then got geared up with a harness and helmet and walked into the jungle with Said towards the freshwater turquoise lake of Punta Laguna. The only way to get to the canoes is by zipline, and Said will go with you! Along with the 2 guides walking with us. At no point did I feel unsafe. Said even took one of our phones with him to record his travel across the lake and to catch our arrival to him on the zipline! Once at Punta Laguna, we canoed across the lake, Said told us the type of animals in the water, including alligators if we could find one, and how the Mayan's needed this lake for freshwater. Once we got to the other end of the lake, we were walked into the Jungle again and participated in a Mayan Ceremony to be given permission to enter the sacred Cenote. Said then took us to this private family-owned cenote that had changing rooms and bathrooms. We refilled our water containers and got ready to swim! The cenote is underground in a cave, had fish and turtles swimming, and had hundreds of harmless fruit bats flying around! From the top of the cenote, the water is so deep that you could jump, and the three of us took turns jumping waaaay down!!! Said took pics and videos for us and told us we could spend as much time cooling off in the cool waters before heading towards the Mayan family home for lunch. After cooling off, we drove to an area in Nuevo Durango to a Mayan family's home. At the house, we were treated to delicious food made fresh in their home as the tortillas were being made in the patio fresh by hand, I even jumped in and made some! After lunch, we were toured around the grounds of his animal preserve! It was HUGE! He had deer and agouti's and birds! As well as many different species of bees. Him and Said explained the importance and history of the bees and their efforts to save them all. Said truly had a connection with all the people that we encountered, it was not just a business deal like you feel in most other tour groups. He truly cares for the people and wants to pass that feeling onto the guests. It was an unforgettable experience with memories that will last forever! It won't be our last time in Tulum! And when we go back, I will be using them for other Eco friendly tours!

My husband and I were in Tulum on our honeymoon in March 2017. I knew we wanted to do a tour or two, since we didn't want to deal with the hassle of a car (we took cabs in and out of My My husband and I were in Tulum on our honeymoon in March 2017. I knew we wanted to do a tour or two, since we didn't want to deal with the hassle of a car (we took cabs in and out of town). I did some research and decided that Mexico Kan Tours sounded like the best option! I'm so glad we found them. On our third day in Tulum, we did the Sian Ka'an Muyil private tour. Our tour guide Alejandra picked us up at our hotel around noon and we drove to Muyil. In the next few hours, we explored the ruins of Muyil; learned about Mayan history and culture; climbed a watch tower for a great view; took a boat ride across Laguna Muyil, through a mangrove channel, and across Laguna Chunyaxche; and floated a lazy river. Through most of this tour, we were completely alone (Alejandra didn't even float the river with us - so it really was JUST US), which is rare in the Yucatan. This tour was so wonderful - beautiful, peaceful, tranquil, informative. After the boat ride back, we enjoyed a light dinner with Alejandra. Alejandra was kind, fun, interesting, and certainly well-informed about the region, the Mayan culture, and the Yucatan ecosystems. We had booked two tours (the Muyil tour and the Chichen Itza day trip tour), but we had such an amazing time at Muyil and Sian Ka'an with Alejandra that the next morning when we were in town for breakfast, we stopped in at the company's office and booked a third tour for a few days later! On our fifth day in Tulum, we did a group World Wonder Discovery Tour. Alejandra (this time with a bus and a driver, since we were about 10 people) picked us up at our hotel around 8/9 in the morning. She dropped us off in town to get a coffee when she gathered a few more of our fellow tourists. (We had a great group of people from a variety of countries - Italy, Germany, U.S....) Our first stop was in the city of Valladolid, where we toured a former convent. The architecture was very interesting, and the stop allowed us to learn about the history of this beautiful colonial city. From there, we went to Valladolid's central market. We wandered and tried different local and regional fruits from various vendors. From there, we drove to Cenote Yokdzonot, which was one of the highlights of our whole trip. This cenote is not crowded and has a great story (I have a whole review just about this cenote if you're interested). And it's just beautiful. We swam in the cenote for a bit before we enjoyed a delicious lunch cooked by the women of Yodkzonot who organized the cenote and opened it to the public. After lunch, we went to Chichen Itza, which is a crowded (obviously), but is certainly worth a visit. We learned lot throughout the day and honestly enjoyed every moment of it! The very next day, we did our third and final tour with Mexico Kan Tours (this time not with Alejandra) - the Mayan Underworld tour. We began this tour in the morning and drove in our small SUV with two other couples to Yal-Ku Lagoon in Akumal (near Tulum). We snorkled in the lagoon for a bit before we drove to some secluded private property that opens to allow tourists view its gorgeous cenote. It's private property, and they only allow one tour group in at a time. This was a completely amazing tour. We climbed down a rope ladder into a cave and waded (and sometimes swam) through cold cave water until we got to the cenote. You witness completely fascinating rock formations and it's simply beautiful and tranquil. At the end of exploring the cave and swimming in the cenote, we had lunch with our group and our very nice tour guide took us back to Tulum. All three of our tours with Mexico Kan Tours was amazing. They took the pressure and stress off us so that we could just relax and enjoy some of the culture, landscapes, and ecology of the Yucatan. The tour guides we met (especially Alejandra) were wonderful - kind, information, intelligent, multi-lingual, and never tired of answering my endless questions! I would absolutely recommend this tour company to anyone going to Tulum or Akumal who wants to see more than just the hotel zone and town without having to deal with cabs or rental cars! Two thumbs way up for the work this company does every day!

Alex, our guide; was super knowledgable explaining to us how cenotes form and also the cultural importance. He made us feel right at home, especially since I'm not the best swimmer. I've had issues before with snorkeling equipment malfunctioning on other trips but everything worked great this time with Alex's tips. We explored 3 unique cenotes and had plenty of time to relax and enjoy exploring them. Alex showed us how to free-dive (it's important to equilibrate your ears) which came in handy when he showed us hidden spots in the mangroves and even had us explore some underwater caves fully submerged (only if you felt comfortable). In between swims, he had ice cold sweet pineapples and water for us. Although you could technically do the cenote swims yourself, I believe it's worth the little bit extra to have a guide show you how to use the equipment properly (nothing worse than a water-filled snorkel mask) and also the hidden spots (all of the other tourists that came on their own to the grand cenote just stayed attached to the buoyed lines that were laid out). Well worth it in my opinion.
