Oaxaca BTO Bowl
JoAnne A.

First, yes, the food is excellent. Girl gang hung out for lunch and we all ordered the Oaxaca BTO Bowl. So Good. I mean grilled pineapple + sweet peppers, tender chicken, black beans and more. Great flavors in 1 big bowl! Second our server wad so nice and accommodated our group of chatty women. What a great atmosphere.

16 Oz margarita

Do not recommend this location ! If you still decide to go beware they will overcharge you and stand there ground that they are right and you are wrong. Always look at your reciet as the waitress mad it an option. Never again will this location get my business. Ordered a 16 oz to go margarita 14.99 and was charged for a jumbo margarita for 17.99 which is not in the to go section.

The food comes out real fast and they have a huge menu! I got the lime margarita- jumbo size and it was delicious. For my entree I got the combination dinner with enchilada, burrito and Chile Reno. It was all really good. They also give you free chips and salsa! Our server was also really nice.

Speedy Gonzales

Decent lunch option. Food comes out quick. Chips were fresh and salsa was good. I ordered the Speedy Gonzales and it was the perfect amount. Not too heavy.

Guadalajara special

Not impressed with the food. Tasted cinnamon in the base of the sauce which I wasn't a fan of. However, the rum runner was probably the best I've had. The 151 rum really makes a difference.

Disgusting!!!! Found a dead roach in the bag that my food came in! When I returned it to Mexico Restaurant, they acted like it was nothing! Took 5 min to cancel my order and then let me stand there until I asked if my money had been refunded. How are you going to have an attitude with me when it's your nasty ass restaurant that has roaches!!!!

Need to put gauc back on Chimichanga's. Already expensive enough to include it. Very pricey for average Mexican food

A must stop in the downtown Richmond area!…read more It's truly a speakeasy with the door posing as a bookshelf. To get in, you must know the password or tell the host a joke that makes him laugh. We were escorted in and quickly noticed that this was more than a speakeasy-it was a full restaurant. We stopped in for drinks, but it was nice to have tapas. I got the popcorn with the Tequilla lime butter, which was the perfect balance of salt. I had a mezcal drink which was perfect! I'm such a fan of mezcal and am excited when I see it on the menu. Our waitress was a delight-super attentive and also a bartender so she was able to answer all of our drink questions. It was very spacious with outdoor seating. Definitely a 10/10 experience. I would definitely go again!

The parking is a sh*t show around here. We walked here, so I can't fault them for that…read more Upon entering, we were greeted by an enthusiastic young man dedicated to his role. He asked for the password and we, unprepared, had to tell him a joke or an interesting fact. Luckily, my partner had one on hand. The atmosphere was lovely, very reminiscent of a 1920s speakeasy, or at least what you'd imagine it to be like. Our server came by within a few minutes of us being seated. She lacked enthusiasm, unlike the host, unfortunately. Her service turned out to be lackluster as well. We ordered the chicken pot pie and the filet mignon with asparagus. For drinks, the Grape Gatsby and Maine root beer. The food, like our server, lacked appeal. The saving grace was the host and the atmosphere. The view was lovely and the intimacy of the setting was a welcome experience. For dessert we ordered the bread pudding, and it was tasty, though nothing special. The burned odor that we smelled prior to its arrival turned out to be the bread. I can recommend Grandstaff and Stein as an experience, but you should not expect much in the way of culinary delights or exemplary service. We probably won't be back, but if you've never been, it's worth trying at least once.

My awesome girlfriend made us a reservation here and kindly requested a seat by the garage…read moredoor....and they did it!!! Literally so nice and cool! Food was fantastic and really made you sit back and wonder "how did I end up in the French countryside and why do I have an urge for a cigarette?" Can't wait to come back!

SO good, favorite spot of our Richmond trip!…read more My brother and I were looking for late night oysters. Sadly when we came in Wednesday night at 9 PM, we were told they were only serving drinks at that time. I emailed the restaurant and was informed that on most nights, they indeed close the kitchen and only serve drinks after 9 PM, but that on weekends they'll keep the kitchen open longer. I'm so glad we came back on our last day of the trip. It was a Thursday night at 7:45 PM and pretty full. Thankfully, there were some seats at the bar which we preferred anyways since you got to watch the oysters get shucked right in front of you. We ordered the bread service, and though it said house cultured butter OR whipped beef tallow, our kind server made sure to ask if we wanted one or both (the answer was both, of course!). We also got 4 Virginia oysters (appreciate not being forced to order in increments of 6 or 12), chargrilled oysters, and "dessert tonight" which ended up being the most perfect chocolate cake (I think it was describe as something else, but my memory fails me) with a white chocolate ganache-like topping and pistachios *swoon*. I tried the wine of the day which was an orange wine that it was a nice not-too-sweet, not too dry wine. I'd recommend it with a pasta or fish. Our server (didn't catch his name but he had a nice brown sweater and a beanie, receipt says Taylor so maybe that's his name?) was so nice! Great vibes all around from the interior to the bathroom to the service. Would definitely come back.
