Ordered an enchilada dish with pulled chicken that was very tasty and my wife ordered vegetarian fajitas which she really enjoyed. I thought that the red sauce that I ordered instead of the green sauce was a little more bland than I have experienced. Overall the food was good, the prices were reasonable and the service was excellent! I decided to stop in over the weekend to grab some lunch. I arrived around 2:00pm on a Saturday and was seated right away. My waitress/bartender was super nice. I decided to try a burrito jalisco. After I ordered, they dropped off some chips and salsa, which had some spice to it. I preferred that over the cremy white sauce, which tasted a bit sweet to me. The burrito was really tasty and had good flavor. It was served with a side of rice and was a decent size. Overall, I was really happy with my meal, as the flavors were more authentic than other Mexican restaurants I've tried. This Mexican restaurant gets high marks so we decided to give it a try on a lazy Saturday. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Broad Street just past Parham. Signage on the outside was nice! We arrived at around 12:30 and there were two other tables. Our server greeted us promptly and asked about drinks. We both got water then I ordered a cucumber jalapeño margarita and my husband got a vodka Rita. Both were good. For appetizer we got guacamole. On Friday-Sunday they offer half-priced apps so the guacamole ended up being $6. It was good and came in handy. For entrees we got shrimp tacos and chicken fajitas. The shrimp tacos were amazing, but the chicken fajitas were bland. I added salt and got a side of jalapeño and pico to jazz it up. It was weird that it only came with two small flour tortillas. I had so much meat, peppers and onions left over. They should serve the portion size with 3-4 tortillas. My husband told me to get more but I noticed they charge extra and I knew I wouldn't eat more at the moment so not worth it. My husband ate the leftovers after his soccer game that night. For me this was just a standard Mexican restaurant so really a 3-3.5 star review at best. The salsa was just okay and lacked a kick. I'll keep searching for that great Mexican restaurant with flavorful food. I realize fajitas are 100% an American thing but they could use more seasoning to amp up the flavor. Very solid mexican restaurant. I got street tacos of order three: tripa, lengua and birria. In my experience tripa was usually honeycomb cow stomach, here they use intestines. All three were great but I prefer the honeycomb. For non Virginians, the white salsa is a VA thing, it's a bit sweet and creamy. To me it was like they added some sugar to ranch. Apparently it's made with miracle whip it's OK but I prefer the regular tomato salsa. I got there in time for happy hour and the tecate comes out in the can with a lime on top. We also got the guacamole. I thought we ordered table side but it came out made from the kitchen. A very solid place and I would give it 4.5 if I could. read more

I got the burrito fundido, my wife got the shrimp fajitas, and I also got two tacos on the side to try. One was barbacoa and the other was ribeye. We have stopped here a couple of times now because it's the perfect midway point between DC and Durham for my trips. Everything was fantastic. I didn't realize Lalo's had a West End location until I saw someone post about them in one of the local Facebook groups. I saw the post just before I dozed off for the night, and thus dreamt of crispy tacos. As such, like anyone in their right mind would do, I woke up and placed an online order later that same morning. I ordered three ground beef tacos, queso dip, and one cheese quesadilla with a side of sour cream. My order was being bagged when I arrived 15 minutes later. I was warmly greeted and passed my food promptly. I loved my tacos and was glad I ordered extra cheese for them. The queso hit the spot too, and I was impressed that they gave me two huge bags of chips to go with them! I enjoyed the quesadilla the least, as it was pretty bland, but the salsa and sour cream helped liven it up. I wouldn't hesitate to return the next time a craving for crispy tacos strikes. read more

I went on a Friday afternoon around 5 and was seated right away. The restaurant is in a strip mall but there is plenty of parking and spacious on the inside. My waitress was really nice. I ordered coconut margarita and queso. The queso was really good and I am a queso snob so it met my expectations. I was not a fan of the homemade tortillas but they were okay. We went late on a Saturday night. Even though they were about to close, the staff was very accommodating. Can we start with the chips and dip! The chips were so thin and crispy. Loved them! The salsa was really good too. Just enough heat without being too much. I also really enjoyed the food. I got the three taco combo with pastor, carnitas and steak. All were very good. This modern Mexican spot specializes in street food and is spacious, has a nice bar area with tv's, a cool vibe and a killer happy hour every single day. We started with amazing margarita flights and birria eggrolls that were really good. I could've drank the consommé as it was so flavorful! For entrees, we tried a variety of delicious tacos, served with rice and beans. Their tacos are next-level delicious - so many options to choose from. And to top it all off, we had the most amazing fried plantains with ice cream and a sweet sauce drizzled on top yummmm I will be back soon to try the burrito fundido! Stopped by and the quesabirria was insanely good. Super crispy, cheesy, and the beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender. They also served a hot salsa that added to an already delicious meal. This is a great new addition to the neighborhood. There's a lot of Mexican / Taco restaurants in Richmond but they are not all successful. This restaurant has a strong original customer base from when they only cooked from a food truck. The restaurant is new, clean and fresh with plenty of parking in the strip mall. We were greeted immediately upon entering and shown to our table with menus. There's also an option to scan a barcode to access their menu online. There's a large variety of tacos available, I tried 3 and all were tasty and nicely seasoned. The guacamole is excellent and made fresh when ordered. There's many different margaritas available as well. So many that it was difficult to choose. I went with a premium margarita and it was made well with a good balance of tequila and grand mariner. The tables and booths are spaced out where you can have conversations with your party. There is music playing but it's not overpowering. One negative note to make is that the checking out process was confusing. The waiter mentioned that he would bring our check but never did. A manager eventually came by and asked if we needed anything. When we mentioned we were waiting for the check he just directed us to the register area by the door. So I'm not sure if that is the normal process. So I would clarify that on my next visit. This is a new restaurant so I suppose there will be a few hiccups in the beginning. The guacamole is made fresh to order and was hands down the freshest, tastiest guacamole I've ever had. When we commented to the waiter, he said " it's made fresh with love" Street tacos were a nice size, double layer corn tortilla! Pinches was a food truck for just about forever, most recently found in the parking lot of 2nd and Charles. When the owners of that property chose to part ways with Pinches, a new brick and mortar was born! Authentic Mexican flavors. Great street tacos and upscale tacos in many varieties, a few burritos, tortas, housemade guac. Who is addicted to housemade guac? We are! So guac and chips to start. I followed with three tacos -- steak, carnitas, and chorizo. There are 9 choices at 3 for $11.99. (and five others at 3 for $14.99, including lengua and cabeza.) The tacos were double-wrapped soft tortillas with ample proteins and great flavors. My dining partner had quesa-birria, "Three corn tortillas grilled with cheese, filled with birria, topped with onion and cilantro. Served with a side of consommé for dipping." The consomme had such well developed flavors it could stand on its own. There are other tacos on the menu at higher prices, including brisket, shrimp, tilapia, anaheim pepper, etc. The menu is much more extensive, you should just go look at it and know that there are no bad choices, so far. A lot to explore! The margaritas are potent and come in about 20 varieties. There also appears to be a full bar. The service was attentive. The torta was great the bread was very soft and held the torta together. The meat was well seasoned and fell apart in my mouth with every bite. There is a full bar with various drinks to choose from.
