Why are the delivery charges so high? I like the food but refuse to be robbed. And why do I need 85 characters for a review?

We tried Mexico on Forest Hill for the first time tonight and it was great. We sat outside and the patio was cute despite being on the parking lot (nice umbrellas, string lights, fountain). This was nice because we brought our small dog. We ordered from the vegan menu which they don't have printed, so you just read it from their online ordering site on your phone. They should print one though! The homemade salsa they put on the table to start was AMAZING. We got beyond street tacos (beyond steak, spinach, pico, avocado, black beans) and vegan potato taquitos. Both were lovely. We also asked for extra spicy sauce which did not disappoint. It would be great if they had a vegan cheese or queso but over all this is a stand-out vegan option in this part of town. read more

My food today was extremely poor. The taco salad was very small with very few, limp ingredients. The chili relleno was okay although it was cool, not warm at all. The churros were hard and impossible to eat. While I've ordered from here several times in the past, I won't order from this restaurant again. A total waste of money. read more

I stopped in at The Mexico at 11:15am Thursday, March 26, 2026 (today). I bought lunch to go with an extra bag of chips and salsa. I got home only to find the oil the chips were cooked in was very rancid. I had to throw away the chips. the lunch was ok. The rice was waaay too orange in color but otherwise edible. Used to love this restaurant, but the last few times we have been in the food was very disappointing. Today, to the fajitas were warm, not sizzling hot, and full of grease - two large napkins full of grease. When mentioned to the server, nothing was done. I've been to this location for lunch and dinner many times. The service is always good. The wait staff always greets us with a smile, and are always prompt and courteous. The food quality is very consistent. Reading the reviews, I understand that tastes differ and this location may not meet everyone's expectations for Mex food, but I have always been impressed with the consistency of the food quality, both here and all of the other Mexico locations in the area. A lot of the more critical reviews seem to be focused on takeout orders. That makes me laugh. So much of what you pay for at a restaurant is the atmosphere and the ambiance. Given that, I suppose you can't help but be disappointed when you get home, your lettuce is wilted, your chips are soggy and your food is cold. This place is usually good. I had the shrimp quesadilla which was delicious. I also ordered the quesebirria tacos. This is where the low rating comes in. It really didn't have much flavor at all and the meat could have been much more tender. Also, there was something in one of the tacos, and when I bit into it, something stabbed me in my gums causing my mouth to bleed. And I couldn't eat anymore for the rest of the day. I never thought a taco could cause so much pain. It felt like a sharp needle, but whatever it was I couldn't find it. I had lunch here today with some coworkers and must say I won't be back because the food was very blah. I love the fact that I was outside on the patio and the weather was beautiful. I ordered shrimp tacos and got 3 medium shrimp in a flour tortilla and some sort of slaw in a takeout container. The plate was super super hot, which makes me think the food was sitting under heat. Monday night is family night here. There was a balloon artist going to each table making balloon characters. It was a very pleasant diversion for our son. Service was warm and timely. Very bad experience, from the start when we called to place an order the guy had a very snappy attitude and hung up very quickly after I told him that that was all for my order. We picked up the food and the enchiladas were dry , Lack of seasoning/salt. My husband usually orders a quesadilla which again was lacking seasoning. My husband and I treated my sister to dinner at the Mexico Restaurant while visiting family and friends in Virginia. Our service was fast and friendly and the atmosphere was nice, other than the vapor cigarette sitting next to me (not the restaurants fault). My hot plate filled with a burrito, taquitos, beans, rice, chips, salsa, etc. tasted fresh and like authentic Mexican food and my husband enjoyed his meal as well. Too bad my sister only had a few bits of her own meal, as I am sure she would have enjoyed it much more than her vapor cigarette. Shrimp taco salad was good but a lot of lettuce. There was no beans and really big sizes of shrimp ! Shell was really good but overall there wasn't enough seasoning. Veggie fajitas were bomb! I love Mexican food and don't mind trying different restaurants. We went here on a Tuesday evening. There were 2 of us. There was someone at the Hosts area, he told us to go in a find a seat anywhere. We noticed whenever someone of color came in they were told to seat themselves while others were led to a table by a hostess with menus and silverware. The waitress finally came over and gave us our menus and asked for our drink orders. She was not friendly at all. The salsa was bland and tasted watery. Another waitress bought our food.
