We had already eaten, so we kept it light and ordered the chicken flautas. They were deep fried, nice and crispy. We also had two rounds of drinks. They were good, but at $20 each drink, they felt a little overpriced for the location. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience. There are free chips on their sidebar but they are greasy and fat and not the same as the ones that came with the dip. We asked for The chips that came originally because we had lots more cheese It charges $10 more for the chips. There was no sour cream with our quesadilla They charge us six bucks for sour cream. We purchased a margarita Which tasted more like a mimosa Too much orange juice So we ordered one more with cuervo It was better but the orange juice was just too much Walking out of there with three drinks one order of queso and a cheese quesadilla Cost us $120. First time trying and unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning for another try. I was initially a little shocked by how pricey the food and drink was for a typical Mexican restaurant, and sadly the food did not live up to the price. All four of us found our entrees to be bland and lukewarm. Also very strange that they up-charge for black beans, but I digress. It was pretty empty for a Saturday lunch hour, which may be typical for them since they only had two waitresses working. First time dining, we tried lunch. The restaurant is lovely with plenty of seating and a nice patio for outdoor dining in warmer months. The bartender quickly sat us at a two top table in the bar (he was the only server for the restaurant). We didn't see him again for apx 10 minutes and he took both our drink and lunch order. We asked if the restaurant had a spicy salsa as the "samples" were mild or sweet and only half full little plastic ramekins (see picture) so attempting to dip a chip was quite the challenge. The waiter returned later with a ramekin of tapetio bottled sauce not homemade salsa lol. I ordered the lunch fajitas (steak) with flour tortillas and Johnny had the chili verde. Our food arrived promptly and visually looked pleasing. The steak fajitas were ok, but the "steak" had a few larger pieces visible upon arrival but not much under the green peppers and onions and just pretty bland. The meat was tender and the onions caramelized nicely but the green peppers were large sliced so very al dente. Johnny enjoyed his chili verde but there just wasn't a lot of flavor. Oh, we didn't receive the flour tortillas, we got corn). On a plus, the corn tortillas were thin and tasty. You aren't given any more salsa to add to your meal and when we asked for more of the first ramekin because it had a slight spice, we were given the wrong one. I can't tell you what it was because our server didn't tell us even though we shared it was our first time lol. After receiving the wrong half full ramekin of sauce I asked for the right one, sadly it never arrived. Johnny went to the car and grabbed some tabasco (green) for flavor. The restaurant is so cute, has a good lunch menu, served 11-3 M-F and a great happy hour (pictured), but has some opportunities to improve. Another weird note for November, there were a couple flies in the bar area and three in the ladies room and outside the bathrooms which seemed odd for fall. Our server was nice enough, but didn't ask about our meal or offer refills. I can't recommend them at this time. We will give them another try and I hope the experience is much better. When this place first opened, I thought we had found a hidden gem. The food was good, drinks were solid, and service didn't make me want to age ten years in an hour. Sadly, that golden era is long gone, and now every visit feels like a new episode of "What Can Go Wrong This Time?" Spoiler alert: it's always something. Let's start with the margarita glasses. One time I had to wait because apparently they didn't have a single clean glass in the building. No problem, I can be patient--until the "clean" one finally arrived hotter than the plate my enchiladas came on. Nothing like sipping a margarita from what feels like a mug fresh out of the dishwasher sauna. Refreshing. But the real highlight was the service. I asked if they had a tequila menu--wild request, I know--and was told flatly, "No." My wife, who has a medical dietary restriction and can only have certain tequilas, politely explained what she needed. The server's grand contribution to this delicate health conversation? A shrug and, "Well, I only drink 100% agave." Cool story. Exactly what we needed. Then, to really seal the deal, she returned a few minutes later and triumphantly offered... a house margarita. With who knows what mystery liquor floating in it. Perfect. This place has become a parody of itself: lousy service, careless mistakes, and a complete disregard for customers who ask even the simplest of questions. I never leave reviews, but this restaurant had me wanting to leave one because of the poor service and food. Our drinks were given in plastic cups, we're expecting a premium experience -- glassware, proper table settings, and ambiance. Plastic undermines that. It comes off as cheap and seems like the restaurant is cutting corners. Then our straws were just tossed onto the table unwrapped and unclean, as you can see in the photo. Not something you expect when dining out. It felt careless and unhygienic. My carne asada's meat was very little and so thin. That is not how a carne asada is supposed to be. I would suggest that you don't come here. This is so disappointing and the food had no flavor. "Some food just isn't worth the service" Mexico Tipico is a great establishment but you have to be ready to dine-in for at least 2 hours. The servers are friendly, but extremely slow. We waited to be seated for 15minutes, sat, waited for a server for 15minutes, ordered drinks, waited another 20 for our drinks to come, then waited again for our order to be taken. It was a never-ending loop of waiting. After an hour and a half we finally received our food- which I must say was delicious!! The guac was phenomenal! Honestly I don't even need to leave a review because it looks like by reading previous reviews I am not the only one complaining about this place. Overpriced food for what you get in quality and flavor. The service is horrible because God forbid you have a complaint they will argue and gaslight you to make you feel you are wrong. Adding charges behind your back to the bill for requesting an empty plate for sharing is insane and literally theft. Ordered Fajitas w/chicken peppers onions. Last time I ordered that there it needed more peppers and onions so I ordered extra. The menu said there was a charge for extra so I thought maybe $3-5. Got the check and I was charged $10! for peppers and $10! for onions!!! Twenty dollar charge for a few extra veggies. I asked how they come up with that? The MANAGER said "they are hand sliced"!!!!!!! WHAT? She refused to give me even $5 off! It's their policy to charge for extra food. Visited this place twice. Their hours are good, the place was clean and the wait staff is friendly. The food is god awful. I have tried the nachos and fajitas and both were just tasteless and the nachos were burnt. The vegetables in the fajitas were off-tasting and undercooked. My main gripe is with the salsa and chips situation. They WILL NOT give you just a little bowl of salsa. They give you this wooden board with three ramekins (little cups) where one is salsa and the other two are beans...or sugar/vinegar water, couldn't tell but they were gross. When I asked for a little bowl of salsa they told me they didn't have little bowls. I got two house margaritas and a nacho appetizer. With a 15% tip, it came to 70 dollars. I need to update this review in an unfortunate way. We went back and I was so excited to take my family. For starters, they charged for everything...soda refills, asking for included items to be put on the side, etc. The even had cut the napkins in half to make them smaller. Here's the kicker...2 people in our party who ordered the same meal got sick after eating it. I brought it up to management and they were so mean about it. They told me to pay or they'd call the police (I didn't even ask for a free meal). Then they accused me of making up excuses to get a free meal (again, I never even asked). I was so nice to them about the whole thing and told them how much I loved coming here. They basically told me to deal with it and that there's no way their food could've made my party sick. Wow, I have driven past this place for years and today Ai stopped and grabbed lunch. It was great! I ordered Arroz con pollo and it blew me away. A bed of rice topped with loads of chicken, mushrooms, peppers smothered in a sweet tomato sauce. The portion size is huge and the flavors bright and delicious Service was very good as well. I'd def come back. The only thing I didn't like was the really loud Mexican music that was just too much. They actually had two music systems playing at the same time. read more

I usually come to Mexico Tipico from time to time with my kids, and in the past, I've had good experiences. However, the last two visits have been very disappointing, both in terms of food quality and customer service. During my most recent visit, I ordered a ginger ale, which turned out to be flat. When I brought this up, the waitress mentioned they were out of the carbonated version -- something that should have been communicated before I ordered. As for the food, the birria tacos were extremely fatty, with very little actual meat. The spicy sauce came completely frozen and was served on a hard taco shell. I pointed this out to the waitress, who then brought over the manager. Unfortunately, the manager did not present herself professionally -- her makeup and lipstick were smudged all over her face, and she lacked empathy. Rather than offer to fix the order, she simply said "it comes like that" and mentioned she would tell the chef to use less fat and more meat next time. She made no effort to remake the dish or even offer a replacement sauce. To make matters worse, our waitress spent more time flirting with a male customer sitting near us than actually attending to our table. I had hoped that coming at a different time might give me a better experience, like the ones I had a couple of years ago, but sadly, this was not the case. Service and food quality have both gone downhill. I hope management seriously considers improving staff training and food consistency. We've been to this restaurant multiple times, but our Cinco de Mayo visit was extremely disappointing and has likely made it our last. To start, the service was subpar and the chips were noticeably stale. Without warning, the server took the standard menus out of our hands and replaced them with a "special" Cinco de Mayo menu. It became clear why when we saw the prices on the bill. We were charged $29 for a single 8-10 oz margarita that tasted awful. When I asked for pineapple juice or anything to make it better, there was no solution offered--and the drink wasn't comped or adjusted. Even more shocking, the "Cazuela de la Muerte" cocktail, which is normally around $30-35, was priced at $70. Our food order came out wrong, and instead of fixing it, the staff blamed us. We were also charged for sides like cheese and sour cream that should've come with the tacos--$12 for a tiny portion. Once I complained, they removed the side charges and admitted we had been mistakenly charged for two margaritas. Even after the correction, I was still charged $20 for one, when they're normally $14 on any other day. Price gouging, poor service, and no accountability. Absolutely unacceptable. For starters, it was busy. They seemed very understaffed. It was also freezing inside (AC was blasting), fortunatley my BF had a hoodie for me in the car. I ordered the chicken fajitas. My bf cheese quesadilla. It took an hour and half for our food to come! My BF's quesadilla was cold. My chicken fajitas were tough and looked like someone cut the butt ends of a pepper and threw them in there with some cuts of pepper and onion. I only took a few bites of the food. To top things off, when we paid our check we were charged for someone else's bill. The waiter apologized. We won't be back. Do yourself a favor and don't come here. read more

They installed a large outside patio area during COVID which could be upgraded with some ground covering the asphalt, plants and lighting to make it more comfortable for diners. The bad news is that the food was mediocre at best. I knew we were in trouble when the waiter brought a dish of tortilla chips and the 4 sauces accompanying them were in little plastic cups like you would get in a takeout order. The water was also served in plastic cups. We ordered Mexican basics, fajitas and tacos. We gave this place several tries, and each visit was more abysmal than the last . It's hard to say what was worse... the food, the drinks, the wait times or the prices. We found the food to be over-priced, and over-salted. Overall, everything seemed to have an "institutional-grade" taste to it. Beyond being consistently mixed incorrectly, the drinks we had tasted like they were made using the cheapest mixers available, and each one had a distinct chemical aftertaste. Horrific. I take absolutely no joy in having to leave a negative one-star review. As a matter of fact, I hate it. I actually want to see local small businesses thrive by providing positive experiences at reasonable prices to the local community. Given our experience, I'm guessing that Mexico Tipico's ability to thrive for as long as they have is due to its proximity to I95 and little else. We won't be back. read more

I didn't look at a drink menu or the prices. But.. we'll get back to that later. The drink was really, really good. Golden color and perfect taste, garnished with fresh pineapple. The chips and salsa were OK. Good portion for one diner. Salsa arrives in a little ketchup container. Looking at the menu, and hay-soos it's expensive. Appetizers over $20. $30 for 3 tacos? The old me would have gotten up and walked out but the new me decided to stay the course. I picked the carne asada and was not disappointed. The presentation was probably the best I've seen at a Mexican restaurant. Sizzling steak topped with grilled little onions with the greens still attached. Generous heaps of refried beans and rice, and in the center a grilled jalapeno in a little bowl of guacamole. AND it was all delicious. I have zero complaints about the food, service, or facilities. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. I've traveled the world and have never had a restaurant refuse to "make the customer happy". My wife ordered an unusual burrito after asking what the ingredients were. Turns out there was a distasteful spice included that neither of us could stand. They refused to make any accommodation and said that you ordered it, you eat it. My wife had one or two bites so clearly she wasn't trying to get free food but wanted a substitute item from the menu. When paying the tab the manager became abusive and chastised us for complaining. Furthermore, the service was terrible. Do not patronize this establishment. I have a viral TikTok series called "Does it Deserve the Hate?" where I go to the worst rated restaurant in town and see it it deserves the hate. I always try to remain optimistic! The ambience was nice and the staff were friendly, but me and 2 others who ate here all got food poisoing from the fajita. We all split the fajita because the portions were large and the menu was kinda pricey. We ate here on Saturday Feb 3 at 7pm. I was throwing up from 3:30am to 1pm on Sunday. I vomitted the fajita in the first 2 rounds. And then threw up green yellow bile 7 more times, with a fever and bloody stool. I'm sorry but this place 100% deserves the hate.
