Colony Grill is CT Pizza Royalty. Especially in Fairfield County. I've had Colony at family functions in Stamford. This is actually the first time I've been inside a Colony Grill before. I have to say, with its woods and bricks, the Milford location is gorgeous. I'll come clean. Colony's very thin bar style pizzas is my least favorite pizza crust type. I do love one CT bar style place that absolutely nails the toppings, but I've never connected with Colony in that way. In any event, I ordered a few pizzas for a nearby function. I tried the pepperoni one, and a bacon and onion pizza. It was executed well for what it is, but I prefer a thicker crust that can support more sauce and toppings. Before you walk into Colony Grill you should know that they only serve pizza... thin crust pizza. You cannot rate them expecting more when that's not what they offer. We were in town at FTC for a show and came to Colony Grill for dinner. The buffalo chicken pizza was great and beer came in a frosty glass. I'm awful at ordering cocktails but when I shared with Lucas my desires, he made a perfect cocktail. One of the first stops I always make when I come home to CT and to visit my friends in the area has to be Colony. Last night I went in and as always it was PACKED! We waited about 20 minutes to get seated. It's always a little loud because of the amount of people that are always there, but we LOVED the Christmas decorations. Our waitress was great she took our orders immediately and the food came out in a timely manner. I ordered a pepperoni black olive pizza and my friend ordered the hot oil pizza. I tried the famous Colony Grill pizza and I have to say it was interesting. The sausage was great, the sauce was on point. There wasn't much cheese on the pie, but in this case it wasn't needed. The spicy hot oil added a little kick, which was nice. My only complaint was the dough itself, it tasted like a crispy saltine cracker. With that said, I think Colony Grill's pizza isn't really a pizza, it's just a cracker with sauce and cheese. It's in a category all it's own. It's definitely not one of the best pizzas in Connecticut, but it may be the best cracker I've ever eaten anywhere. Three stars, that's a review. read more

I haven't been to colony grill in years and for some reason I remember the food being good. I decided to treat myself to a solo date and this pizza is not good. It reminded me of frozen pizza that they heated and added meat/veggies. Service was quick. My server did not check on me once which I'm assuming was because I was on a solo date and had an AirPod in my ear but either way she could've made her presence known. Finally made it to the iconic Colony Grill for their Hot Oil pie! It was perfection! Honestly, more like a cracker or flatbread than a traditional pizza. Good for snacking on during drinks with friends or a pre dinner happy hour. The pies are small and one alone could feed one person. I loved their stingers and thought they brought a great amount of heat. My favorite was pepperoni, stingers and hot oil. I haven't tried it in years but did last week and everyone I was with loved it. On and on about how good it was. A friendly downtown joint that serves pizza later than most making it a great spot for after a show at MAC (the Milford Arts Council) or picking someone up from the train station. My all time favorite pizza. I stop into Colony at least twice every time I visit Milford. My favorite pie is the hot oil with chopped stingers but I have also enjoyed the cheese and onion & sweet peppers. The hot oil is oil infused with jalapeños and the stingers are the jalapeños. I've only ever done take out but the interior looks cozy and welcoming and there is an outside patio. My pies are always ready when promised and prepared as ordered. Staff is always pleasant. They are open 7 days a week for lunch and dinner. They only serve pizza but there is a salad pizza. Parking in the adjacent lot can be a challenge on a busy night. I recommend a visit to Colony Grill in Milford or any of their other locations in Connecticut, NY, Virginia or Florida read more

This is a great pizza place for date night or a family night out. Their menu is simple which I feel validates that you know it will be perfection. Choose the topping(s) to your pie and BAM you're all set! Feel free to share with another person or get a personalized pie for yourself - they only come in one size (6 slices each). There will be a wait on the weekend (they do not take reservations, and just have a waitlist you are added to upon arriving) but I do feel like it is worth it. If you love thin crust pizza then you will certainly enjoy this. The crust is crispy and the cheese and sauce are both fresh and delicious. My family and I found out about colony a few years ago. We live nowhere near Milford or the other locations but we've made road trips purposely organized around their pizza. It's highly unique and highly delicious. Story has it it all started many years ago when they were only a bar and the patrons would complain while they were drinking about being hungry. Finally the owner or staff member said I'll make something for you to eat went to the kitchen and made this pizza. I've been coming to Colony Pizza for years, especially the Milford location. I prefer this location as it's located in downtown Milford and has an abundance of parking. Service is always friendly and there's hardly ever a long wait for a table. If a table is unavailable you can always try your luck with bar seating. Colony is the quintessential bar pie as folks would like to call it, a thin crust pizza. In fact, pizza is the only food item you can even order on the menu. I came here recently on a Friday and I am disappointed to say that it missed the mark. I ordered my staple which is the hot oil pie. On this day the pizza was over cooked, had the crunch of a cracker with no hot oil in sight. For some reason even the stinger wasn't spicy. Super delicious!! As a general rule, I typically don't love thin crust pizza. So many places make it and it just flips all over the place when you pick up a slice. Not so much here. Thin crust pizza, just the right amount of sauce, and lots of cheese. And no flopping!! We tried both the plain cheese pizza, and then on the other we got half with meatball and half with pepperoni. So I will admit this was my first time having a colony grill pizza. I was really looking forward to it. And I have to say... ehhhh. It was good but won't be running back anytime soon. Very very thin crust pizza. And I admit I really don't like a thick crust pizza but this would be a bitter pie with a little thicker crust. Topi g are very sparingly on the pizza. I went for the meatball with hot oil. The hot oil is what they are known for. Was expecting it to be spicier than it was. If I go back I will ask for double toppings of any meat that is added on. For 2$ a topping I have to say I expected a bit more meatball. That and it needs more cheese. The place it's self is bustling with customers in and out. Great space. We sat at the bar and service was good. Bartenders weren't very attentive had to get attention to ask another drink. Overall it was good but it might be a been there done that for me. read more

In my 27 years of living in CT, I have never tried the infamous Colony Grill until today. I went on a Saturday and expected a wait-- at 5:45, the wait time was only 30 minutes and we were seated in 20. This place is in a great location which allowed my party to walk around downtown Milford for a little bit to waste some time! The staff is super friendly and made ordering very easy. I love how simple the menu is. The smaller the menu a restaurant has, the better the food IMO. The food came out quickly which explains why the wait time seems to be quick! The thin crust is so delicious. I was impressed that when I folded my piece like a taco, the crust didn't even break! I split one pizza among two adults (includes myself) and a young child. We also ordered a salad pizza because it looked so interesting. Both items were SO yummy and I highly recommend dining here if you're looking for great, unique pizza. This isn't the dark interior with velvet clown paintings of yesteryear Stamford, but even Stamford Colony Grill isn't the same as it was, and this location is in the same vein as the original. Happily the wonderful crispy crust and stingers are still consistent and perfect here in Milford too. This is the same pizza every brew pub is trying to craft, but Colony has been making for decades. If you've never been here it's a simple menu: there's no bar/grill food, just pizza, though I don't think I've ever heard the word 'pizza' here or in any Colony location, so call it pie then pick your pie. Sausage, meatball, and onion and all reliable. I should only give three stars since Colony Grill hasn't landed in Hartford County, but I won't blame one location on that, and Milford is closest location to Hartford. Here you'll find a shorter drive than Stamford, cleanliness for a pizza place, and a friendly staff, and moderate beer list to boot. read more
