Visited with a group of ~12 on a Monday afternoon and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Several of us ordered cocktails, including the Hibi-Coco. What arrived was essentially a pineapple-shaped cup full of ice with barely any drink. We honestly thought the drinks had been forgotten. When we asked about it, the waiter added maybe a shot's worth more--still nowhere near acceptable for a $16 cocktail. At that price point, the drink should at least cover the ice. Food presentation was also odd. One person ordered lettuce wraps and received what looked like half a head of lettuce--almost comedic, especially since it came after she'd already started eating. On top of that, we were charged for extra chips that are typically complimentary, which didn't sit well given everything else. Solid food, questionable service. We stopped in for dinner at around 5pm on a Saturday. It was fairly busy but not crazy. It took a good 10 mins for a waiter to come over. We ordered table side guacamole, which was good, but didn't see our waiter again until after we were done with it. It turned into a pretty long wait. When the food finally came, mine was nowhere to be found for at least 10 mins. The birria tacos came out eventually and were good, but they give you 4 little tacos for $24. Pretty pricey considering you can get the same elsewhere for around $15. It's a better restaurant for the takeout. read more

I love a good mexican restaurant with margs, so I thought I'd try out this chain while I was close by. First of all, the interior was so cute. Had some trendy light up signs but still artwork/murals that made it feel authentic, which the website claims to be. For my positives, the food was great. They served tostadas and salsa (I prefer chips, which they brought out later only because we got the Guacamole,) salsa was a bit hot, which I enjoyed, but not for everyone. Tableside guac service was nice, and it was a good portion for the 4 of my party. Served fresh too! I got the Guava margarita, which was DELICIOUS! I upgraded to a medium, which was not advertised on the menu, but it was $22, the small was $13. I also ordered the taco salad, which was a perfect portion and the cheese was freshly grated--tasted great. Now, my negatives. As said before, the guava margarita on the menu was $13, but the medium was $22. I asked our server how big the small was, and he said a little larger than the (very small) water cups we had, so I got the medium since I come to mexican restaurants craving a big marg. My second complaint is the service...my group said from the beginning that we were ready to order immediately. But after the server took our drinks, he said he will give us time. He brought back the drinks, and said he will give us more time. (That was fine with me since I wasn't in a rush, but it was a little odd. It was also memorial day with only 5 parties in the whole restaurant.) Once we got our food and finished up, we waited for our check. It took about 30 minutes altogether after we finished eating to get the check. I still tipped 20% but this service was a little weird. Overall, looking for another mexican place with this vibe but cheaper margs and better service. Let me know some recommendations! read more

Incredible experience! Service Ambience Food All above great!! Couldn't be happier. Here's the kicker I got the Prime Ribeye. Probably the best I've had and it's a Mexican Restaurant. Served to the table with its own grill still Searing away. Came with a corn dish with potato's and incredible sauce plus more. A large group of us gathered at Puerto Vallarta in Fairfield and we were accommodated nicely by the staff. The pollo union dish was delicious. It was wholesome and filling, equipped with rice, potatoes, salad, chicken, peppers, and onions. I would definitely order that dish again! Loved the complimentary salsa. *Brunch Review* The Fairfield and Danbury locations now serve brunch. So of course being the big brunch fan that I am I had to check it out. I was not disappointed! We started with the Mexican fried donuts "Dona's de Requeson" as an appetizer to share. They were excellent. I chose the tostados Jalisco with steak for my entree, and my fiancé had the Mexican waffle with grilled chicken. We were beyond stuffed and the food was amazing! The steak and chicken were both seasoned and cooked to perfection. We both loved everything. As always the ambience is great as the interior of this restaurant is so pretty, Instagramable if you will, with lovely murals, authentic decor, very clean and has an exceptionally friendly staff. I met a couple of girlfriends for an early dinner. We arrived to find that very few tables were occupied and so we were seated right away. The restaurant was still decorated for the holidays so it was quite festive. Our server was helpful and friendly however he disappeared quite often so we had to ask other employees for service a couple of times during our meals. Perhaps he was serving another table in another area of the restaurant. We all ordered different entrees after sharing a bowl of nachos and sauce. Two ordered shrimp dishes and I had the steak. My steak was well presented, was cooked perfectly and was tasty with the extra hot sauce served on the side. My dish was light on the vegetables with only three thin slices of grilled zucchini served with a generous portion of steak, black beans and rice. The shrimp dishes pleased my friends with one comment which is that they were not peeled so they had to work for the meat. And the normal chips and salsa to the table has been replaced with 3 pitas and salsa and it was truly awful. I had the taquitos lindos my husband the vegetable fajitas both pretty tasteless. My husband and I used to love this restaurant in the past 2 months we have gone and I have gotten severely sick. We went this past Saturday 8/9/25 I ordered the pollo asado burrito which came out cold and refried beans I ordered on the side tasted spoiled and cold. As soon as I got home I had to vomit the bit I ate as the thought of the food and how those beans tasted grossed me out. Unfortunately we didn't want to complain as we did not want to get our fabulous waiter Rafael in any problems. But we won't be visiting this place for quite sometime. Discovered Puerto Vallarta during the pandemic and had been regulars there ever since. Things had started slipping a bit so we stopped going for several months then tried it again a few months back. On return there was a new manager, named Amadeus and we noticed everything has been stepped up a bit. He is present, so friendly, and the whole feel of the place and staff seems to be higher moral since he's been there. Food order mistakes are limited, service is better than ever, and we love going again. Shout out to Amadeus and the whole PV team. Horrible experience at Puerto Vallarta in Fairfield tonight. It's understandable they're crowded due to Mother's Day, but it's wrong to be serving food that is cold and undercooked. I ordered a dish with shrimp, vegetables, and rice. The veggies were cold and undercooked and there also was a piece of cold butter left in my dish. Management didn't do anything about giving a discount or compensation for the food that came out so late. We waited over an hour for 5 dishes that STILL came out cold. They recooked my food slightly but it was still not good, now I have a stomachache. Also, there was no toilet seat in the Women's restroom. I made the manager aware of this as well, and he said it "broke this morning." Unbelievable lol. Like get a new one? And it was so dirty too! We will not be coming back. I have had better experiences at dive restaurants! I have been to other restaurants that have comped the entire bill for an inconvenience like this. read more

I used to live in Connecticut and this was my favorite restaurant for Mexican food! Then I moved to Florida and visited CT again this week and couldn't wait to try this place because I love their arroz con pollo. It's great to see that even after so many years, this place didn't disappoint! Their arroz con pollo is the best I've ever had! (And I've tried plenty of Mexican restaurants). Arroz con pollo is their signature item on the menu and you should definitely try it! It comes with chicken prepared with mushrooms, green peppers and onions served over rice with melted Monterrey Jack cheese topped with their special tomato sauce and served with avocado and tomato. It's their tomato sauce that truly adds the unique flavor to this dish! See photos below. Another thing I loved about them was the fact that their dinner portions are huge! We also ordered the chicken carnitas and those were equally delicious! Chicken carnitas also come with their homemade tomato sauce, topped with onions and green peppers. It comes with rice and beans on the side too. Their margaritas were great! I totally enjoyed the whole meal because from start to finish, their service was excellent. I sent my boyfriend in there to pick up my uber eats order (chips and guac ONLY) and it estimated 10 minutes. He gets there and greets the people at the host stand who tell him "HOLD ON" rudely while they were playing around with something... they acknowledge him a few minutes later, he tells them he's there for the guacamole pickup... he waits 25 minutes in store. I had a fantastic experience when I visited Puerto Vallarta in Fairfield the other day with friends. The food was delicious, and our amazing server, Jackie, made the experience top tier. You can't go wrong with any of their margaritas - I had the one pictured and it was perfect. I ordered the medium size (they offer small, medium, and large) and I was very impressed with the size of it. All you need is one and you're all set for the rest of the night. TRUST ME. I ordered my vegetarian burrito without cheese and it was delicious. The beans provided a good amount of protein and it was filling. We visited Puerto Vallarta on Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) and had quite the celebration! They had some really great specials, and all of the food was so flavorful and fresh. I really appreciated the presentation on all of the dishes and margaritas too! Our favorite was the Molcajete Tonala, which was just breathtaking when it came to the table. We love their tableside guac, and their desserts were awesome as well. We couldn't believe how big the cotton candy was! The Mexican flag shot that comes out on fire was a highlight of the night too. read more

You wouldn't think such an amazing spot is located on horrible Black Rock Turnpike. Honestly, I avoid that madhouse at all costs, but now that I know Puerto Vallarta is here and how wonderful it is (better than the Danbury location, IMO), I'll take a breathe, grip the wheel and engage in the chaos of the turnpike. This chain use to be amazing. My family use to go at their original location in Newington. The food was so good. We moved to Norwalk and have visited the Fairfield location on occasion. We went the other night, and let me tell you boy has this place changed, and for the worst. First, the whole menu has changed with exception of the fajitas. They use to give you chips and the best fresh salsa. Now they trying to force this really bland plate of 3 flour tortillas and some really bad spicy chipotle mustard. NOT GOOD! And we were not the only ones, everyone around us rejected this offering. The have ruined their menu, they use to offer some of the best pork tamales now their just cheese... Boring. Because if they I got the chicken fajitas. My wife got the chicken enchiladas in mole sauce. The chicken was boiled with no seasoning. Placed into a tortilla with NOTHING. The Tortilla was that was half chewy and half crispy and over cooked... so microwaved? Both of our dishes came with rice and beans. The beans were watered down and flavorless and the rice... the rice, oh god, I use to strive to replicate this rice at home... well it was god awful. It tasted like soap. We got the Mexicans street corn.. yea it was frozen corn, dry, flavorless absolutely not fresh. This place got too fancy for their britches and have absolutely started cutting corners since they opened the Stamford location. Not only will I not recommend this restaurant I will never return... such a shame this place use to be epic.. all I will have are old Memories, and those will be better than what they offer now. read more

Update- 5 months later The restaurant is still very beautiful and hip. Atmosphere is modern and inviting. Food still tastes really good and portion sizes are filling. Reason for losing a star is because of the wait time. From the time that I was seated to the time my drink/food order was taken was about 25 mins. This time around it was in for lunch the restaurant wasn't so busy, 7-8 customers so I thought the timing was really off as opposed to the last time my waitresses were eager to serve us. All in all I still recommend trying this location out, hopefully you don't have to flag down a waitress. read more
