This is a 2 or 3 star experience depending on the day I go. Mexitaly is a solid place for fast casual food and, as of recently, beer. I've been unadventurous and only eaten the plain ol' quesadillas. The quesos are decent comfort food, especially when paired with a side of guac. I've heard their other offerings, especially the Italian part of the menu, are pretty tasty. And my parents greatly enjoyed their tacos on our latest trip. I was excited to try the house-brewed beers they started selling a few months ago. Unfortunately, they were nothing to write home about. I got a flight (five 4-oz pours of your choosing for $7 -- not bad) and while they weren't terrible, the body on most was mad weak. I know the brewing is a new endeavor though, so I'll give them the benefit of growing pains. Gripe about my most recent trip, however: there was a really funky smell throughout the restaurant (smelled kind of like mop water?). It made it kind of difficult to eat my lunch. So Mexitaly is a bit of a mixed bag for me. But if you're looking to eat tacos or pizza with something other than Corona or Coors, it's not a bad bet. read more

It's a restaurant with an identity crisis, but I dig it. It's a fast-casual, Panera-style place with a craft beer component. It's a little confusing that you pay for your meal at the counter but have to pay for your beer separately. Other than that, the food is good and the place is big, clean and pleasant. read more

The good -- The sopapillas were great and the chips and salsa were fine. The waitstaff were pleasant and helpful. Everything else --- The bean soup is pureed black beans but was made inedible by the large amount of salt. The calamari are tough and thicker than what I've had at other places. The Breading was really salty too. These also have no tentacle pieces, which makes me suspect they are fake (go ask Google what fake calamari are made from). I had fish tacos and was not pleased with the flavor on the breading. The ladies bathroom was ok, three stalls and one had a broken lock. The food was good! We got our food for takeout so we got fish tacos, a BBQ burrito, and the pesto chicken pizza! All were very yummy. When we went inside to place our order, the environment made us want to stay and eat there but we came in pajamas but they were having trivia night at the time. We are from Virginia and the hostess (Sara, I believe), was so amazing and very sweet and patient with us. She gave us frequent updates while we waited for our food even though the wait was about 15 minutes only! read more

I play open mics and this place has a great one on Tuesdays at 8:00 pm. When I'm hungry, I get a good meal with a good value for the money. Usually, I take half home for my girlfriend. I love the Grande Nachos, the lasagna, and tacos. The burritos are simply too big for me to eat - I'd rather have other stuff I like better. If you drink beer (and I do), there in-house stuff is unique, love the blood orange beer. IPA's are good too. The music is what I go for primarily, but they satisfy an appetite quite nicely too. It's a great combination, live talent and dining! The pizza is exceptional - nice blend of quality ingredients in a fired oven. I won't eat cheap pizza and I like theirs. This place has a deep menu of Mexican and Italian deliciousness (Mexitaly....get it?).Their brews sounded fantastic, especially the blood orange hefe, but I was on business and couldn't indulge. Stopped on our way through York. Nice little set up. Food was excellent. I got the tacos platter which was more than enough. Wife got a Stromboli which she could only eat half. Got the flight of 9 beers which took me a short bit to get through. Can't recall which ones were better than the others but all in all, they were all very tasty. Would visit again. read more

Came on a Friday night to celebrate a bday. Ordered the fettuccine Alfredo w shrimp. They make their own sauce. It was delicious! We also had the taco salad, steak salad, salmon on salad --special request that was no problem, and a chimmichunga. I've been here multiple times, and it just keeps getting better and better. The pizza's especially incredible, the staff's terrific, and the overall atmosphere is quite pleasant. My wife and I went there tonight (Friday) with three of our children. Food was decent but it was entirely too loud and not conducive to holding a conversation. The music was less blues and more screaming banshee. When my wife tried talking to the owner about it,he said his other customers enjoyed it. Funny how we saw three different people approach him with concerns and saw only a handful of people actually conversing. I was supposed to go there tomorrow night for a party in the back room. The owner told my wife that the music is even louder back there. I won't be going back. Very unfortunate because they have a microbrew that several of my friends recommend. I have been here once before and really enjoyed it. I can say the same for this visit. Both times I ordered off the "mexi" part of the menu. I think next time I will have to try the pizza even though I have a semi strict "no pizza outside of work" policy. I say this because today we got the "mexiboli" and the dough was absolutely superb. It may have been some of the best dough I have ever had--nice and crunchy on the outside but soft and actually BAKED through on the inside. We also got the nachos which were very delicious. I'm not a beer fan personally so I don't know much about the brewery part of this place but from what I understand they have some really good beers. This is the perfect place for someone who wants Mexican AND Italian food or when half the family wants Mexican and the other half wants Italian. It's technically fast-casual so you order at the register and pick up your food when your buzzer goes off. Everything is made fresh to order, they have excellent pizzas and great burritos. What a horrible experience! I explained to I believe the owner after he treated me as if I was bothering him...this is my 1st time here would u give me a minute to look over the menu I ordered and he just continued being rude. So after I placed my order I sat and this buzzer went off my food was left unattended and I walked up to get my food I asked for sour cream and the owner said it was already on my tacos I said could i have more he rushed over and put the sour cream in a small paper cap after the girl was about to put the sour cream in a regular side container as if he was trying to save sour cream or just continue to be rude. I said let me get my food to go he say why I explained of course he denied I said this environment is not friendly at all! I really like this place. The master brewer makes some AWESOME beer. A small but great selection that changes regularly - not just a bunch of IPAs (I know some people love them but they are just not my favorite). The blood orange Hefeweizen is so good!! Their burritos are huge and delicious! I also recently had a Stromboli and I could only finish half of it. My husband was excited about the different hot sauces and they were all great. Mexitaly is my absolute favorite restaurant in the area. I have never encountered a staff that is more accommodating to food allergies than the good folks who work here. I have a nightshade allergy, and my partner is celiac - it makes it incredibly difficult for us to have a night out. The employees at Mexitaly are always helpful with information about dishes and will happily make substitutions where needed. The food is excellent - they actually make everything themselves, from the hot sauce to the beer! (...so they actually know what the ingredients are!) The tacos are delicious, with the meat made in-house. I'm not a guac person, but friends I have brought have raved about their chunky guac. The pizzas are the best brick oven style I've ever had - thin crust, toasty, with fresh ingredients and just the right amount of cheese. I can eat an entire personal pizza here and not feel gross. They have a wide variety of non-standard pizza options. I highly recommend the buffalo chicken pizza :) The beers I have tried have been excellent, and the variety is constantly changing. They also carry local seasonal ciders from Wyndridge and Big Hill, which are both gluten-free and low-sulfite. There are a few evenings during the week when the restaurant can get very crowded, such as nights when they host a band or open mic. Trivia night is also very popular. If you're not a fan of crowds and loud music, you might want to choose a different time to go. On a side note (and I realize this might not be the biggest detail to everyone) I truly appreciate that the employees here seem genuinely happy, and that makes me happy. Everyone is friendly, managers are constantly stepping in to help, the owner is regularly in house and working, and the pizza dude makes pizzas like they're works of art. I'm giving Mexitaly one star because however delicious their food may be, they definitely have bigger problems. First of all, when I was there last night, I got food to go so I waited at the counter. I watched my burrito ("tacoritto") being made. WITHOUT GLOVES. The guy making my food had NO gloves on! I saw this guy reach for several different items without gloves on (a bag of crushed nachos, etc.), therefore contaminating those products. I looked around and saw no easily accessible or read lilt available boxes if gloves, which was unsettling. Especially with an open kitchen, things like that should be a main priority to put a consumers mind at ease, whether or not they are watching their food being made. But maybe that's just me. Anyways, I did go ahead and eat my food for 3 reasons: 1. I was hungry and in a hurry 2. I'm not easily grossed out by those types of things ( until I kept thinking about it) 3. I'm not one to complain and ask to have my food made over again So I started eating, and it was great, until my mind kept going back to his bare hands ALL over my food. Whether or not they were freshly washed, ( I don't know, or care) that's gross. Needless to say, what I had already eaten came back up, and what I hasn't went in the trash. Isn't it common sense (and a health code MUST) to wear gloves when preparing someone's food? Secondly, while this seems trivial compared to my first point, the service is not good. Basically, fast food type service at a casual establishment. Over the phone is even worse. I won't go into detail because this review is already getting really lengthy, and this is not my main point.
