Tried this place out Friday night based on some overstated Yelp reviews. Total disappointment. So I am obligated to drop in this review. Ordered something simple, that I am familiar with how it is "supposed" show up. The three taco dish w/side of rice & beans. Meal was sub-standard to say the least. Cold steak, old (has been sitting) rice with similar cold beans. I guess you get what you pay for, huh? Then it took me two attempts, of standing in front of their register, to just get the bartender's attention to get a draft beer. They were "counting out" between shift changes while me and another customer stood watching for five minutes. Maybe their pizzas, "to-go" are better, but I'll never know. This place (franchise) is scratched off my dining list forever. Too many other quality restaurants to waste my time in a terrible experience such as this. I have been to the new location twice, had an amazing chimichanga and a few craft beers that are brewed on site the first time. The second time my wife and I split a wood fired white pizza with meatballs and a hand streched fresh mozzarella appetizer that was out of this world, the pizza was awesome as well. They have a good very good menu but the specials board is where you will find some high end dishes like duck leg confit. Not sure I like the fact there is no table service but if it keeps the costs down I am ok with it, plus no need to really tip accept for a few dollars at.the register. If you sit at the bar there is a bartender that will take your food order like a normal place so tipping is customary. Speaking of the bar the beer choices are varied and seem to change often. I really wish these travel and food review sites would have a column for out of town reviewers and locals reviewers. You are guaranteed that all of the 5 star reviews are from locals whose favorite restaurants include Panda Express and Applebee's. And most if not all of the dissenting opinions are from people who live in cities where good food is made; York,PA is not one of those places and I live here. It's a shame because an hour south and you can have great fresh food even if you do have to carry pepper spray and put your billfold in your socks (which York has that vibe too). If your typical " dining out " experience consists of slugging down multiple poorly made margs and Bud Lights before devouring previously frozen french fries and burger patties at "Tom, Dick, or Harry's Sports Bar" you might consider this delicious eccentric fare. On the flipside if you've ever spent enough time begrudgingly overpaying for food at an airport restaurant while waiting for your flight to take off, this doesn't pass the smell test for a brick and mortar. Mexitaly is a great location when your friends want Italian and you want Mexican. We both ordered burritos during lunch hour at the counter. The size was so big that I could take half home for dinner with the regular size. The burritos were good, but they were not out of this world. There are many different options to choose from and the menu is really large. Next time I visit, I would try the pizza and microbrews. The atmosphere is really chill. read more

The food (a buffalo chicken pizza) was decently priced and hot. Like a lot of buffalo heat hot. And it was amazingly delicious. As soon as they start selling beer I think this will become a weekly stop. One of the few places my better half and I agreed that we need to try everything on the menu. Highly recommended. This will be a compliment sandwich: something good, something bad, something good. The burritos are legit. The chicken quesadilla looks like it came from Taco Bell, only it's $8.99 instead of $1.99. It's generously appointed with barely enough chicken and cheese to cover the surface of the tortilla. With no space-wasting extras like onion, peppers or tomatoes to overwhelm your palet, the pinch full of chopped chicken and slightly burnt cheese is left to speak for itself! The beer was quite good and refreshing. The Rye IPA was well balanced and a pure pleasure to drink. I also had the Golden Ale that is a super easy to drink session beer. The daughter let me have a taste of the Bock and the Altbier that she had. I found them both to be dead on style and very pleasing! YUM. Ok I love this place, really. A few of my go to things to get I can't get anywhere else. Try the root veggie quesadilla with grilled salmon (TO DIE FOR) and the Jiamacha (think that's the spelling- it's a hibiscus tea). I can't get enough. Their guacamole is whipped and a bit spicy and their food is all unique recipes so you can't even come close somewhere else. My husband thinks their pizza is his favorite of any pizza joint, but he often gets the Mexican food because it's so amazing too. A lot of the Mexican food has a bit of a kick- not too much but if you hate spice at all, order the Italian food- oh and don't forget the root veggies!! They also brew their own beer, and serve sample flights. We found this place by accident a few years ago and it has consistently been a 5 star always! read more

Pretty good, not great, food. Dined here for the first time and had the chicken kabob with seasonal vegetables (it was zucchini) and potatoes. Everything was very salty and the zucchini was overcooked. That's my biggest complaint. It's also a loud restaurant. They do have an extensive menu of Mexican and Italian food, so I'll probably be back to try something else. My friends both had pizza, and they both said it deserved 4 stars. read more

Let me start by saying I have been a customer of Mexitaly for roughly 4 years. I have even had a surprise birthday party there. Went in today, like most Tuesdays for taco Tuesday. I was told by owner that he is switching up happy hour to require that you buy alcohol. What this means is at a family friendly restaurant my 9 year old son can not enjoy taco Tuesday. Interesting brewery with a variety of food options. We only stopped in for drinks but the food looked pretty tasty, as well! I had one of the local canned vodka drinks (wasn't my favorite) and my date had a flight of beers. The RBF beer was a yummy sour. Would recommend as a stop if you're coming through York. read more

This used to be one of my absolutely favorite spots in York. Ever since they moved and started brewing beer it's gone down hill some. Their food is still good but not great anymore The service is mediocre at best. The cashiers are typically not very personable. At the old location my family was greeted happily and recognized as familiar faces. The ordering has also become restricted. First visit this evening. This place is unusual in several ways. Food: Mexitaly, true to its name, offers Mexican & Italian. I had my doubts about their ability to pull this off but I confess the Italian was tasty. I had spaghetti w clam sauce and a garden salad. Both were spot on delicious. I wanted a Margherita style pizza advertised as their special for $9. but they claimed to be "all out." What? You can make every other pizza offered but not this one? ( star drop by 1) I didn't spy anyone eating Mexican but if it is prepared as competently as the Italian, the results should be equally rewarding. Having said all that, the dining experience is unique. After a short 15 minute wait in line to order food ( no wait staff here) we received a flash card to let us know when to pick up and went looking for a table. None to be found but we did find seats at the bar. It should be noted that Mexitaly is loud by design. There were 2 DJs spinning music and simultaneously playing an offbeat guessing game with various tables full of patrons. Apparently one would troll the internet for obscure information and together they would fabricate questions for groups w self selected team names to answer. The layout and funkiness of Mexitaly reminded me of a college campus eatery in a strip mall. If you are looking to relax and enjoy a quiet meal, this is pretty far from that. BUT, and it is a good sized but, the (Italian) food was quite good and that is why I go. Unfortunately, I had worked a long day and I was not in the mood for loud and self serve, so I lopped off another star. I could see adding one back if the "special pizza" was available next time, or the noise level was reduced. Oh, and $14. was a wee bit steep for spaghetti but as I said, it WAS tasty. I've been visiting York for many years as my in-laws live here. It is so nice to see more food offerings and varied choices, not that pork and sauerkraut isn't fun sometimes. We LOVE this place - great staff, super bartenders, amazing house made food - no convienience, processed food items here! If you enjoy a good beer, you have to try their craft beers. They are made on the premises by their head brewer Rick, there are usually 9 unique offerings that rotate often. Our fav is their Blood Orange Heffeweizen. We are also fans of their locally made Meads...yes, Mead! Some of our favorites: Fish Tacos, available in hard or soft shells, we get the soft shells - delish the slaw tops them off perfectly! California Steak Burrito While the selection of pizzas is incredible, we also order pizzas with sweet peppers and roasted garlic, it is our "make your own" special! :) Chicken Pesto Stromboli - ask them to deep fry it! Hands down best Caesar dressing in town! So creamy and peppery and delicious. Highly recommend the Salmon Caesar. On top of the incredible dressing, the quality of the fish is great! Mom: "So where did you eat?" Me: "Mexitaly" Mom: "Mexitaly? So... is that like Mexican and Italian? Me: "EXACTLY." Two of my favorite types of cuisine, all in one location! Unfortunately being a Celiac leaves a lot to be desired at a place like this, but they had a couple Gluten Free options. I wound up choosing the (3) hard corn tortilla tacos, with the beans and rice. Beans, a bit bland. Rice, pretty good, but kinda dry. The Tacos, pretty on point. Overall, I'd give my food a 3 out of 5. However, my fiance ordered the Italian Stromboli, and although it took almost 40 minutes for it to come out of the oven, it was fresh & amazingly delicious 5 out of 5 (for sure). Honestly, if I went back I think I would rather sacrifice myself to the gluten pains I am going to feel after eating myself one of those strombolis. Apparently they have deep-fried strombolis and while I don't think its absolutely necessary to deep fry a stromboli, they did look pretty good. Overall, I recommend the Italian side over the Mexican side of the food menu... but I will most likely be back. I'm gunning for that gluten-filled Stromboli! read more

We have had three dining experiences here: the first one was delicious. Fast service, good food. Second time, takeout. Everything as ordered. Today, takeout again (we went in and ordered)- orders were wrong. I'm careful about ordering bc I don't eat dairy or wheat, and I got cheese all over everything. My husband ordered quesadillas which had the wrong meat. Disappointing for $40+ meal... ***UPDATE! Management has more than made up for past missed orders; great customer service today.
