The restaurant its self looked very vintage and dark. But once we got our appetizer I was surprised. The food was delicious and made fresh. The bread was warm and soft. Service was on the slower side but this made for a very calm dinner and made you kind of relax and enjoy the company you were with. The main entrees were delicious and we got stuffed fast! So.. I visited this place about 10 months ago. Let me start off by saying place was clean. Beautiful banquet hall. Seating for everybody. Chef Tony prepared our meals quickly and to our liking with speedy precision. He takes his time but his time is short. He cares about giving you the highest quality meal you have ever had. Every time I eat at a restaurant I think: this isn't as good as Chef Tony's. I still talk about this place to friends and family almost a year later. That is the effect it will have on you. Place was clean other than the men's bathroom, But, what can you expect from people constantly exploding ( insert bodily fluids here) in there. My wife and I were staying in Gettysburg and wanted some good Italian food for dinner. Saw the glowing reviews for Buon Appetito and decided to make the drive over for a late Sunday dinner. I saw reviews by Jenna and others suggesting the atmosphere needed some updating. The exterior is not what you'd expect. It is a little dark inside and could use sprucing up in areas. However, I'd still call it fine dining. It has a huge dining room (and a new patio) with white linens under glass tops. It was not busy when we were there and Tony the owner and chef was also our server. He was very friendly and attentive and gave great advice on food selections. The mozz sticks were creamy. Marinara was bold and flavorful. I had the cannelloni and wife had meat ravioli with a meatball. Flavors were great. The pasta was fresh, cooked perfectly and had just the right amount of chew to it. I was really hungry for good Italian food tonight. This place did not disappoint. The calamari was fresh lightly breaded and seasoned. The best I have had that I can remember. Their style Italian wedding soup is the best I have ever had. I m a very spoiled Italian dish person. I ordered angel hair pasta with, Bolognese sauce and meatballs. That not did disappoint. I went here with my family, group of 4, for my birthday dinner. It was our first time dining here. I had made a reservation for 6 for 5pm on a Sunday, when a reservation wasn't even necessary due to being the 4th diner in the restaurant. The restaurant isn't what you would expect for fine dining. It was very old looking and outdated. It was very dark inside and was kinda depressing. My fiancé said he felt like he was at a funeral. My mother in law made a few comments about the lack of light. Despite this, service was very good despite it only being one guy (I think the only other worker was the chef?). He even brought over a cannoli for my birthday. I was particularly excited to have the Penne Smirnoff, and to look at the wine cocktail list. They had a separate menu for liquor cocktails and wine cocktails, which is very nice for someone who's picky like me. I got a sparkling wine mixed with cranberry juice, I forget what it was called. The group all seemed to be happy with the menu, there were plenty of options so everyone could find something. Everyone seemed happy with their meal. I loved the penne vodka, but was not a huge fan of the plentiful sun dried tomatoes in it. There were at least 3 spoonfuls left of tomato and sauce mixture left, and all pasta gone. My father in law also said that he ran out of spaghetti before he did sauce, so he still had a bowl left full of sauce. Besides it, the experience was good and we all left happy and full. So glad we found this place because the food was fantasticcc! The house bread was hot and came with a great fruity olive oil. Service was attentive as well. We ordered the veal picante, penne with sun-dried tomato pesto, and cannelloni. My partner didn't love the cannelloni but I think it was more a matter of personal taste, as I tried some and enjoyed it. The veal and pesto were both 10/10, flavorful and prepared well. The portion size of the veal could have been bigger but was acceptable. Overall, I'm glad I found this spot and will definitely be back. read more

Well worth the stop! We were out with friend and heading back to there home in Spring Grove Pa, first we started out in Harrisburg it was over an hr wait at bone fish grill so we figured we'd head to Gettysburg and omg it was packed probably cause holiday weekend. So we were going to head to the house we drove by this restaurant and turned around man are we happy we did! First they bring you a lot of yummy HOT bread, then we had crab balls for an app, I ordered the Homemade lasagna and it was well worth it, my wife ordered the Alfredo fettuccine man that was yummy also. Truly authentic italian food and I'm strongly considering the 1.5 hour drive may be worth it to return. Plenty of vegetarian options that are sure to please even the pickier eater and they will customize an item on the menu if you have dietary restrictions. My wife was happy with the vegetable napoleon and I loved the jack daniels cheese tortellini with sausage (substituted chicken instead of sausage). Tony, the owner, came out to check on us and make sure everything was delicious. I responded with this is the first time I've had really great tortellini. None has come close to how good this was. There pick 4 beer flight was a great addition to our meal and they brew everything in house. We had the oatmeal stout, the pilsner, the kolsch, and pumpkin stout. The pumpkin stout was good but was more sour/tangy for my taste but perfect for my wife. Grilled cheese was on point for the kiddo! It's a very humble looking building, but go inside for a special treat. Ambiance is what you'd expect in an Italian restaurant. Menu is very comprehensive with good descriptions of what you'll be getting. Man who served us (owner?) was very kind, very patient with our questions, and very knowledgeable. We had the creamy tomato crab soup to start and honestly with that and the wonderful bread I could have called it a meal. But do yourself a favor, get your abundant entree and make room for dessert. It's all just so very good! We'll need to find reasons to drive the hour to get here, loved it that much. Highly recommend the Chicken Alla Rose and the Jack Daniel's Tortellini and Sausage. I was leery of the place because the outside looks very unappealing. There's a beat up, sad, unprofessional sign. There's beer posters hung on the side of the building. There's a broken barrier in the parking lot to prevent people from driving into the building itself. Overall, it really looks like a sketchy dive bar from the outside. I posted a picture of the signage outside and the interior. Night and day different. I really hope that Buon Appetito invests in changing their exterior to match the interior because I am sure it would increase their business. Our food was exquisite. Our service was perfect. My mother was thrilled. We each had a bowl of wedding soup. I like more pasta in mine but the taste was there. They used a lot of spinach. It was definitely homemade and high quality. The lasagna with meat sauce was excellent. The bread is baked fresh and brought to the table warm. The tiramisu was good and the cannoli is a real cannoli cream like you get at the best Italian bakeries in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, or Boston. This establishment also brews its own beer, offers beer flights, and has a variety of wine cocktails. They even offer Sunday morning brunch with prime rib. Don't be afraid of the sketchy exterior. Go in and get some fine Italian food. I wish this place was closer to York, but it's worth the 30 minute drive over to Spring Grove. read more
