Amazing place for a plate of pasta or pizza. The server stops at your table almost after just sitting down with water and a menu. There are daily fresh made soups posted on the wall,each very good. The entrees come out with a loaf of warm baked Italian bread and for 50 cents more you can order garlic bread.Whatever you cannot finish, you can wrap up in foil to take home. They brew their own beer on site. We had a small flight of IPAs and lagers which complimented the pizza we ordered. The pizza came out hot and crispy They also give you the choice of ordering your pasta, sauce and protein along with the loaf of bread. We enjoyed mussels in marinara and seafood primavera, both were delicious as was the garlic bread. We are so glad a friend recommended this place. Servers were quite friendly, and restrooms were pristine. The restaurant had a cozy feel to it, and was quite popular. I also appreciate the advice from a manager to let the server know I have sensitivities to digesting land animal ingredients, so they can make accommodations, like not using a splash of chicken broth to finish the primavera. Our friend had a stromboli, which we will definitely have to return for, it looked so good. We also enjoyed the oatmeal stout and the Western IPA. We always hope brewers will consider keeping a house-made stout or porter on tap for those who love them all year long and not just during the colder months. Should have brought a growler! I called in an order for delivery. The lady who answered the phone answered the phone "Hello" and I had to ask if I was calling Genova's pizza. After providing payment info over the phone, she didn't share the total. I let that go and then the delivery guy came with no receipt. The delivery guy said he asked receipt and he was ignored. Always get great service with quality food! I always loved the soups the serve. Pizza and wings are the best. The shrimp pasta was fabulous. I have always ordered to go, never dine in. My friend asked me to dinner here. I was surprised how nice it is inside. Bar area, just enough tables. Our waitress, Kelly, was awesome. She was genuine. Very nice, fun, smiling. She made the dining experience. We ordered garlic and cheese bread- oh my my favorite. I could eat a loaf for my dinner. I had a bowl of cream of broccoli and my friend ordered chicken marsala that came with soup and fettuccine. I sampled hers; such flavor. Chicken was tender. Sauce was amazing. The food is usually good, but I would caution anyone against ordering through their website. We ordered through their website, waited longer than the estimated 70+ minutes for delivery, and at the 90+ minute mark (and closer to 2 hours,) called to ask where our order was. They told us it must have never gotten through to them. We ended up waiting almost an additional 20 minutes while they checked their computer for the order, which they said wasn't there. We reminded them that this issue of orders not coming through several times in the past. I mentioned that they know there's a problem, but it hasn't been resolved. The resolution was to order the subs over the phone and accept still another 30+ minute wait. It's 9:10 PM and we've been waiting since before 7:00. If they can't fix the website, maybe they shouldn't have it. I'm sure that they have enough business that they don't care if they lose me as a customer, but I'm done giving them chances, good food or not. I can't give a full review because this was ordered in for a birthday by Austin's parents! However, the Gluten Free pizza they got me? It was good, it wasn't like 5 stars good but that's totally okay. I was pleased and surprised that anywhere in York, PA would even serve Gluten Free pizza. A local place about 5 mins from where our son lives. We are visiting to play some golf, drop off his cat and see him for the first time in quite awhile. This restaurant faces the street with parking out front. It has an unmistakeable sign announcing "free marinara". Not sure if they want it to be free or if they want to free her. I forgot to take a pic. Anyway the place was empty it was about 4pm on a Sunday. Service was prompt and pleasant all staff were masked. We chose a table facing the street at a large window. The menu is quite extensive more than anticipated. You can get just about anything. I chose a Margarita Pie, medium. My son got a crab dip and cheese steak. My wife got a veal parmesan sandwich. All the choices were uniformly very good. My son eats here regularly and they deliver. We really enjoyed the food. Ambiance is day to day Italian restaurant. Comfortable and certainly not pretentious. As we had our meals we noticed the parking lot was filling up and around 430p the take out service was heaving. Many other diners began arriving. I guess 4pm on a football Sunday is a busy time. Always a good sign when the locals flock to a place. We drank water and couple of sodas. Total was $41 with tip. My son had a $5 coupon . Mistake made on the 5 subs I ordered. No onions on any. So they gave a container of onions. These 5 subs were going to workman on a construction job. There was no way to have them put onions on them, I guess they thought with their fingers. They would not remake them. So wrong subs, I had to take. Such a shame that this restaurant is allowed to carry the Genova's name. They certainly do not live up to the standards of any of the other Genova's locations. They tarnish the Genova's reputation. This evening we were seated for dinner when we were told by one of the owners to move to another table. We stated that we didn't wish to move. Mind you, it was my partner, myself and my 85-year-old mobility-challenged mother. Our drinks and salads were served. The salad plates were cleared and we were provided bread plates. It was now 6:00 and a large party was arriving to take over this section of the restaurant. The other owner of the restaurant came to our table and told (not asked) us to move to another table. We explained that we are in the middle of our dinner and not moving. At this point, he said "Get out of my restaurant, you disrespected my wife by not moving, get out." I pulled him aside and explained to him that it is difficult to move my Mother and his response was "I don't care, get out." We left the restaurant to go elsewhere. We have been loyal customers of this restaurant for years. Even thru several times of being disrespected by his wife as well as dealing with her condescension, we still came back. We were very impressed with this place. It doesn't look like much from the outside but it is very inviting inside. The windows are so clean. Our server, Rachelle was impressive. Ordered here once and was really good! This time i ordered 2 small pizzas an hour before close and the pizza was clearly rushed. The cheese pizza is over cooked and the cheese was burnt. I ordered a margarita pizza and it was semi decent. However, i did arrive 10 mins after closing time and left a 20$ tip which was equivalent to my total...for the inconvenience of me arriving late and i definitely regret it. I hope the tip was at-least split between the coworkers that stayed late. When i went to pay the women at the counter had her hand placed out waiting for me to hand her payment even before i said hi and walked in. My fiancé and I went here when we were visiting York for a wedding. We picked up take out for a group get together. Two of us ordered meatball subs with the sauce on the side. They were very accommodating with this modification. The meatball sub definitely had all the sauce on the side. (We wanted to ensure the sub didn't get soggy.) My fiancé ordered a cheesesteak sub and we also got a pizza and a salad for our friends. We also had to hold the croutons due to an allergy. They made sure to double check the salad before they gave it to us! It took at least 20-30 minutes to get our food (we did not order ahead). The subs were okay. The bread was almost like a focaccia bread which was interesting but didn't exactly go with the meatballs. I can walk out my front door and hit a pizza shop with a rock, but Genova's has become my go to pizza shop. The pizza is great, reminds me of slices I used to get on the boardwalk in the summer. The crust is amazing, soft and chewy, it holds up to heaped on toppings. Good stuff. Subs are a little small but the rolls are homemade which kinda makes up for it.
