We decided to try something new. I wanted Mexican, kid doesn't. So I looked up on Yelp and found the reviews. I got the small portion of the tacoritto with ground beef. I liked the flavor and portions. I couldn't eat half. It was served on an 8 inch tortilla and was about 3-4 inches wide. The spice level was just right for me. Bf had the 3 Tacos platter-2 hard, 1 soft with steak. Plate came with spanish rice. Fairly typical mexican meal. The steak was tender. The kid had pizza... Brick oven cheese and sausage. 8 inch. He inhaled. It was really good. The pizza crust was really good. Crispy but not dry. We got nachos supreme for app. But it came after our food. They were good. The cheese sauce was good hot but nasty cold. The Italian fries were good. They looked like handcut fries with parm cheese. Yummy. So definitely, an eat again place. The presentation of the food look very good.For my taste i did feel that my tacos were dry and could of had more flavor.I liked there menu for the most part. I was disappointed that there was no lunch specials. $12.00 for my lunch meal was enough l thought.Service was above average with everyone. Love the burritos, taco salads and Pittsburgh steak salad. But my very favorite is the black bean soup that they can no longer get right with my order. Sometimes they forget the sour cream, cheese and onions. This time the take out container was maybe 2/3 full. I don't get why this simple item/order is almost always wrong. read more

First time here and we loved the place. It was a little different walking in almost like a cafeteria setting. But once we got our seat at the bar everything fell in line. The bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable of their beers. We met the owner who was just as outgoing. Beers were excellent we sampled a few but my favorite was the Lightweight. UPDATE from 12/6/20: Just came back to Mexitaly after quite a while away. And the food has seen vast improvement. I had provolone sticks, their $4 flight of five housemade hot sauces, and their seafood chimichanga. Everything was exceptional. Great variety in sauces; I especially like the smoky sauce. You get enough in the flight that you'll be taking most of each home with you. The same goes for the chimichanga, and then some. It is HUGE. Great taste with scallops and crabmeat, perfectly paired with crema and salsa verde spooned luxuriously over top. Service was good; food was superb. read more

I really wanted to like this place but that just was not possible. It's really unique inside with an open kitchen view and a large bar area as well as huge brewing tanks. We waited around 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge us eventhough it wasn't very busy at all. Overall the server was decent once she got to us. The food however was not very tasty at all. The nachos had an odd gummy queso and some microwaved ground beef. The open view kitchen was a blessing and a curse. We both got burritos of which neither were hot or delicious. My first bite had that yucky bite of chicken that clearly wasn't fresh. The burritos are very big and heavy but after 4-5 bites I was done. The chicken was rubbery and the barbecue sauce overwhelmed every bite of rice. There was supposed to be cheese but I never saw or tasted any but there was tons of lukewarm rice. My friend's pork burrito was ok at best but far from great. It's clear they don't make the tortillas fresh since they were taken from a visible bag. The food was mediocre at best but thankfully not overly expensive. It looked like they baked the pizzas and Italian stuff but the Mexican part looked to be mostly microwaved. read more

Let me say the combination of Mexican and Italian are in my wheel house. Plus it is a micro brewery, I enjoyed a great lite beer. The pizza and tacos were ok, now I did get carryout but it was an interesting place. I am used to more bam flavor for my pizza and tacos. I recommend you give it a try. read more

we have been going to Mexitaly since they had a place on Haines Rd. They are consistently great, something we appreciate. Even though it's rare I sway from the fish and ground beef tacos, I love their chicken pesto pizza, lasagna, pastas, been soup and all the goodness. I found this establishment, as a restaurant, to be very subpar. The quality of the basic food ingredients was low, and the final dishes were a mixture of being both burned, and cold. The food was genuinely unpleasant. I will not return. I did not try their microbrew beers. read more

This was a first time for us. I prefer Italian food and my date was in the mood for something different. I had a gift card so, there we were! We enjoyed the Chips as we waited for the Stromboli. She had Pico de Gallo and I had a Chipotle Ranch for the chips. Both had great flavor , but the Chipotle Ranch could've been thicker. Stromboli was delicious and the Sangria was excellent. I ordered the monster burrito with chicken and the chipotle sauce. For $9 it is totally worth it!! Literally double the size of a chipotle burrito. I also got the Mexican fries which in my opinion wasn't that great so I wouldn't get that, kinda tasted like less seasoned old bay fries. My brother got the steak enchilada, for the price and amount of food it was alittle too expensive. Other than that I would go back for the burrito again! read more

Today I tried Mexitaly for the first and likely last time. I am underwhelmed and surprised by the experience. When my wife and I got to the restaurant, we were told that it is mostly self service except at the bar. OK, I can live with that. We order our food with high hopes for culinary excellence. Our hopes were quickly dashed. I ordered the supreme nachos, hoping for some amazing cheesy meaty goodness. What I got was confused. My meal arrived on a big tin tray but it was mostly cold. Hungry from an 11 hour day at work, I dug in anyways. Disappointment soon set in. There was no cheesy goodness, instead there was this mush resembling a watery porridge that sported a texture like porridge as well. Any resemblance to cheese seemed very coincidental. The taste was not offensive but it wasn't cheesy either. The food was cold not because it wasn't heated but because it was covered with lines of cold sour cream, lots of white goopy stuff, everywhere. The look of disappointment must have been obvious. I don't know how anyone could like that when across the street, Taco Bell beckoned me with cheap but not quite awesome nachos. My wife got tacos with steak on a soft corn tortilla. They were excellent and she devoured them except for a bite she shared with me. That was the best part of the meal for me! My wife got beans and rice on the side with her tacos and they were not good. The rice was insanely salty, a very bad trait for rice. My wife's comment on her beans was that she wished they tasted more like beans. Mexitaly tends to get mostly favorable reviews and my review is based solely on my wife's and my experience. I do not like what I tried there. I did not have any issues with the service, I just really disliked the food. YMMV on your experience there. read more

It's a nice place and the staff are friendly. I do not like leaving bad reviews. I will say it like this. It is not my personal preference. This being said others really enjoyed it so I would suggest checking it out for yourself. I can say they give generous portions so plan for that. read more

Not a fan. When I first saw it I was thrilled. I loved the idea of getting Mexican OR Italian at the same place, I couldn't get there quick enough. I don't think I'll be going back. Granted, I think I'm a bit older than their target demographic. I think if I were still hanging out with friends, drinking beer and listening to music, I'd probably like it better. Instead, now I'm drawn more by the food than the atmosphere, and that wasn't exceptional. It wasn't horrible, but I prefer a quieter atmosphere while enjoying a mediocre meal. read more
