Yelpers, here is a review that some might find helpful. We have a little Tacoma pickup that suffered a windshield pock from a highway stone. This pock mark began to creep and crawl its way across the glass, assuming the proportion of the San Andreas Fault. So, my quest for windshield replacement began. I called three repair shops, and left the recommended email for a fourth (recommended on their website) searching for 1) the most reasonable price, and 2) the most expeditious. Believe it or not, the first three gave the exact price for the repair, leaving me with the thought that perhaps there was some collusion in pricing here...(kidding). The fourth shop, by the way, never returned my email for an estimate for the repair. Of the three that I contacted, there would be a 2-3 day delay in scheduling, and the repair time for one shop was over 4 hours....they recommended I leave the vehicle for the repair. And by the way, the heralded shop that will take the windshield to wherever you may be...well that is an additional $50.00 for that convenience. I was underwhelmed with the pricing, with the delay in scheduling and in completion of the job..remember...I have a developing chiasm on my windshield. So, what to do? Check the Yelp site, Einstein!! And that is how I happened on Meyer Glass on Popular and Zarzamora. Some may consider the location, shall we say, edgy and a bit "rough". And while I now reside removed from the area, I grew up in the neighborhood. And when the Meyer estimate beat the competition by $120.00, and the job could be completed in an hour, same day, well friends, I had Scotty beam me up and energize me there, like yesterday!! So, this shop is a family business, actually started by the father of the present owner almost 80 years ago!. This is not the slick, shiny operation some may have seen elsewhere. The structure is, well, decades old. There are only 2 bays, and I counted only 4 employees. Small, no frills building, small no frills waiting room: an older, established working business. Upon arrival, my vehicle was promptly moved into the bay, and as I waited, several other customers arrived for window panes, mirrors etc. The other customers were working men and women by appearance, workers needing glass to complete their jobs. A couple offered that they had been customers for some time, and offered that this had been their "go to" glass shop above all others. The install on the Taco truck (aka Tacoma) was completed, as promised in an hour. As the proprietor was completing my bill, I mentioned that I had grown up in the area, and we reminisced about the neighborhood mechanic that both our families had patronized, the remarkable donut shop down the street, the laundry and cleaners...well, this was a walk down memory lane for me. So Yelpers, would I recommend Meyer for windshield repair? For the competitive pricing, the efficiency of the work, and the very good cheer of the proprietor...I would recommend in a New York minute! read more

A rock hit my windshield this past weekend, leaving a dime-size crack on my windshield. I was told that I needed to get it repaired ASAP, before the crack spreads. I did some research on Google and Yelp. There are a handful of windshield repair shops that had 5 stars on Yelp. Unfortunately, they were all very pricey, considering the crack on my windshield is tiny. Meyer Glass provided a much more affordable quote, which was half the price of what the others were offering. I called this morning and asked if I could bring in my car last minute during lunch. They were able to get it fixed by noon. When I arrived, they took care of my car almost immediately. The repair man assured me that the crack isn't going to completely disappear, but it's going to stop the crack from spreading. I waited in the lobby area for less than 30 minutes before they were done with my car. They sealed the crack pretty quickly, and it is a bit smaller than before. It totaled up to be $34.95 but if you pay cash, they give you 3% off! The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They even provided a quote if I wanted to replace my whole windshield. I highly recommend going here if you have any issues with your windshield. read more

My truck was broken into by some POS. The low-life smashed in one of my windows. I decided to call Meyer because they did a great job on replacing my windshield in the past. The woman who answered my call told me they didn't have my glass in stock but was able to have it delivered to their shop in 2 hours AND they could have it installed same day AND the price was more than reasonable. When Chris looked at my door, he noticed the scum had broken my power window regulator in the process of smashing my window. Another L for my wallet. Found this place here on Yelp and it was one of the few that was able to get the glass I needed for my vehicle in a reasonable amount of time and took my insurance without any issues. Dropping my vehicle off was easy enough and they do have a gated area behind the shop where they store your vehicle when it's finished (for those worried about the area). My only issue was post-install something is "off" about my replacement windshield. The heads-up display reads at a weird angle and is significantly blurry whereas it was crystal-clear prior to the install it just had a crack going across most of it. I guess between the two trade-offs the un-cracked, distorted heads-up windshield is safer than the one that was cracked 96% across (especially with all these crazy weather shifts - that actually caused the crack to spread significantly) and although many may not like this location, it's ultra convenient and close by to where I live so not having anyone to drop me off and pick me up, this was only about $10 each way with an Uber. read more

This place is great. Out of nowhere our car windshield was smashed and we had no idea who or what did it. We needed it replaced and didn't want to pay and arm or a leg so I got on yelp and did some research. We were going to go with safelite because there were convenient and a trustworthy name but when I gave Meyer's a call they said they could do it for over $100 less than what safelite has quoted me. Even better is once we showed up they pulled the car in right away, and everything took about $ 15 minutes from start to finish. Plus they have big windows in their waiting room so I could watch the whole process, which I found interestingly anyways, these guys are great and offer honest prices. Check them out! read more

So I asked myself, "why haven't I asked Yelp?". Shame on me. The price quoted was lower than Safelite's web-quote, and my service was outstanding. There was a scratch on the first windshield delivered for my car, so they fetched another. They asked if I had time to wait, and I did - in fact I was enjoying my wait, visiting with a longtime customer of theirs (replacing glass on his '51 Ford truck; he said his friend has a glass company, but he still goes to Meyer). The only edge Safelite might have is they'll come to you. I didn't ask Meyer's, so I can't say whether they'd be willing to do it. If they aren't, they might could recommend someone who would. There's no problem with their neighborhood; it's just an older part of San Antonio. People who are weary of the area musta spent their whole lives in suburbs (no offense, Chris L.). Personally, I prefer the way the well-kept old building speaks to the care they put into their work. This place is what Yelp's all about. Local. Quality. Stuff. P.S. Had a rock chip destroy a cheap windshield that was installed by Safelite. In a last-minute desperate attempt to find a replacement windshield that fit my budget before a long trip I'm making out west, I decided to give the guys at Meyer Glass a call and see how their pricing and service measured up compared to the 2 others I was considering. After calling and requesting OE Equivalent with the sound barrier like my original OEM had, they came back with an AWESOME quote followed by awesome service. Over $100 cheaper than my next choice and BETTER quality than anticipated upon my arrival. They managed to get me a windshield that is the same brand as all the rest of the glass on my 2018 Tahoe, minus the GM OEM stamp for $245 OUT THE DOOR! Thanks to the apartment groundskeeper and his lawnmower that must have thrown a rock to my car, I woke up to a shattered passenger window. Luckily, he did the right thing and offered to pay for the damage. He did his best to set up an appointment with plenty of glass repair companies. So, what I did was look up the reviews on several glass companies but did not find any appealing and convincing feedback for any of them.
