We finished visiting the Cape May Zoo and wanted to find a chill place to eat with booze, food, and good times. Ludlam popped up and we made our way over. This place has a great vibe to it. You walk in and there is a large bar, plenty of tables, and a stage where musicians can jam. You can also head outside (which is what we did) to sit at picnic tables and enjoy the weather. We had our kiddos with us, and being outside was a perfect spot. They had a little sand pit area where all the kids were gathering, playing with one another. There are clearly marked off spots where you can order your booze and order food. There were SO many different types of beer to try so I ordered a flight. Every single beer I tried was absolutely delicious. From their fall beers to their shandys and sours, they were ALL amazing. I brought home their chocolate pumpkin beer and their pink lemonade shandy. I wish I brought more home with me to be honest. The food was really good as well. Lots of BBQ options with different sauces. I had a pulled pork sandwich which was delicious! My friends and I all shared some sides - from the sweet and sour carrots to the spicy shaved broccoli salad, everything was so good. Not a single crumb was left behind. My son had the mac and cheese and my daughter had the chicken tenders. Everyone was happy and left full. That's my idea of a great time!

One change from their former spot is that leashed and friendly dogs are now only allowed outside, but with a good reason: they now serve food! The outdoor patio is spacious with 3 areas: a sunny spot on the patio with corn hole games, a tented deck with more tables, Adirondack chairs, and some shade, and also an outdoor bar. Have someone go inside to order and choose from a huge beer menu full of variety. We tried all of their featured beers: Oktoberfest, and 3 different pumpkin flavored beers. Did somebody say pumpkin spiced latte beer? You must order the "Becky!" 'Tis the season after all. Uniquely, they also offer cocktails using liquor from local distilleries. For wine lovers, there is a nice selection of red and white from local vineyards, and they also serve up non-alcoholic options. We love having so much to choose from. Food is available with an onsite kitchen serving up BBQ and sandwiches. They have a great merchandise area with t-shirts, beer glasses, and even doggy gifts like a water bowl, bandana, and treats! The staff could not have been more welcoming; special shoutout to Lorraine for being so sweet and helpful.

They did a nice job of remodeling and making it their own. It's a really cool, small building with a small merch area, a small stage area for live music, a few outdoor seats out front, a small private parking area, and a small beer garden out back. One of the few breweries in NJ where the brewing tanks and various equipment are not prominently displayed. Most importantly, the beer is excellent. I was very impressed by the variety on offer and the quality. Some breweries will have an entire taplist made up of different IPA's and lagers that all taste similar, and a stout thrown in for good measure. At Obscura, no two beers were alike, and all very well made. The standout for me was The Earth is Breathing which was a very interesting mashup of a DIPA and a west coast IPA. Extremely unique flavor and unlike any beer I've had before (which is saying a lot considering how many breweries I've been to). We really enjoyed Obscura and will definitely come back next time we're near the shore!

My girlfriend and I came for the first time shortly after opening on a Friday afternoon in August. There were only a few other customers during our time there. The beer was pretty good. The two standouts for me were the Wah Wah Watch butterscotch ale, and the hard birch beer. I've seen plenty of NJ breweries that make their own root beer but never a hard version. They seem to be known for their seltzers and have quite a few on tap, many more than I've seen at other breweries. The staff were exceptionally friendly. One of them asked us if we could be his guinea pigs and let us try half a pint of some sort of strawberry concoction. Later when there were six of us sitting at the bar, he let us all try a full taster of their soon-to-be-released pumpkin beer, complete with a cinnamon sugar rim.

Nick greeted us and introduced himself when we walked in and sat at the bar. Super nice guy-so friendly and personable! We noticed they had hard sodas before we got there, which we were both curious about. I decided to try a latte which is a mix of their coffee porter and vanilla soda. SO GOOD!! We wound up chatting for a while with a couple about music and beer (two of our favorite things) because the music playing was so good! Overall a great time! We enjoyed ourselves and next time we go we know that we'll be ubering there and staying a while!
