Lamb shank
Stanley T.

There was an event across the street when I visited Mezzeluna on a Saturday evening. The restaurant just opened and someone was already inside eating but the front door was locked. My host opened the door and I opted to sit outside as it was a beautiful day. Lamb shanked is Mezzeluna specialty and that's what I ordered. Unfortunately, my hostess didn't bring me a wine list but said she will grab one. Despite the mixed up, she was really sweet and complimented me on my wine selection. The lamb shank was fork tender and cooked perfectly with a nice gravy over mash potato. If I'm ever back in Cotati, I will go back to try out some of their skewers and hummus.

Came here after work to welcome a new employee. It was fairly busy for a Wednesday. Luckily, they were able to accommodate the 5 of us. It has a nice, rustic vibe inside with a nice patio area. Bonus, they have their own parking lot. We ordered baba ganush, hummus, saganaki, grilled octopus and a salad as appetizers. I was pleasantly surprised that they have gluten-free pita. That grilled octopus was divine. It was so tender. Several of us ordered the lamb chops which, while very tasty, they only give you two for an entree portion. Another ordered the branzino and one the lamb shanks. For dessert we ordered the pistachio baklava and bread pudding. Everything was very tasty. I'll come back again just for the octopus.

We visited on a Friday around 5:30 during Restaurant Week. When we arrived, the indoor dining area was empty, but we were told we could only be seated outside without a reservation. I'm assuming all in door dining was set for later reservations. Our host made a comment that we may want to order soon "before we couldn't," which felt like an odd comment to me. As the evening went on, the restaurant did fill up, and we noticed other walk ins also being seated outside. Our appetizers came out quickly, but our entrées were a different story. There was some confusion with food being brought to our table that wasn't ours, and we watched several tables seated after us receive their meals first. After checking in around the 45 mins, we were told orders were coming out in order, although that didn't seem to be the case. Total time took an hour for our food to arrive. What we ordered: Appetizers Tzatziki served with warm pita bread ($10) Grilled octopus ($28) Entrees Alexander ($29) Lamb chops ($35) All of the food tasted good, fresh, and took me back to my recent trip to Greece. My only complaints for the food is that my main dish, the Alexander did not look appetizing. For dessert, I really wanted my parents to try kataifi but unfortunately they were out. They generously made up for it by bringing out complimentary baklava for the table which tasted delicious. Overall, the food itself was good but the service could use some work. I'd try this restaurant out again with reservations and hopefully on a weekday.

I brought my sister and her husband here for lunch as a thank-you for helping me move into my new home. I checked the menu ahead of time since they're vegan and saw a few items that appeared suitable. Once we arrived and confirmed with our server (who was absolutely delightful), we learned that some of the menu indicators were incorrect -- the pita and a few other items are made with butter. We shared this with the owner, who was very receptive and mentioned plans to explore butter-free pizza options in the future, which was appreciated. That said, the food was delicious. The falafel was perfectly crunchy on the outside and moist inside. The hummus was incredibly creamy, and I especially enjoyed the spicy version. My son loved his chicken kebabs. We didn't have room for dessert this visit, but I've had their baklava and Turkish coffee before and highly recommend both. The décor is lovely, and once the background music started, it really enhanced the overall dining experience.

Still excellent. I recommend the plates, gyros, and avgolemono soup. Delicious. The service and atmosphere are always on point.

Good food and service in a comfortable setting. Our server was friendly and helpful. We ordered an appetizer of spanokopita. It was one of the best versions I've tasted but it was a small portion. My dining partner ordered the lamb chops. She loved them but wished that she had been served more. She's not a big eater so that tells you a lot about the portion. I ordered the moussaka, which was tasty. It was a large portion. I took half of it home. We tried to order baklava but they had run out. We were comped an order of rice pudding. I almost gave this place 5 stars, but it seemed a little pricey for the portions.

We got the mezze platter with the first 3 spreads, chicken soup and spanakopita. All very yummy!! Gets busy at lunch.

The food was amazing and so was our dessert!! Our server was amazing as well and was very cautious about any allergies we had. The vibes in there were very nice and fancy deff would recommend

Five of us together for dinner. We came hungry. We ordered a LOT of food. A few appetizers and practically every main dish. We shared all around the table. Everyone got a helping of everything. Plate presentation was good, appealing. Preparation was very homestyle rather than fine dining and I mean that as a compliment. Rich and deep flavors. Unctuous mouth feel with the mezze, the braised meats. Even the pita was fluffy and wholesome. Even though the table was overcrowded with 8 platters we managed to finish almost every last bit of food. There was a 1/2 cup of braised lamb shank meat left which we brought home. Dining room is simple. Clean, bright and welcoming. Chairs are comfortable enough for a long sit down multi course, multi-hour meal. Servers are friendly, helpful and happy. We brought an expensive bottle of wine from home. Corkage is $25 which I think is an outrageous charge from a family run humble restaurant. All told with tax and tip we paid $79 each for the meal.

Chicken Souvlaki Plate

Really enjoyed the meal. Everything was flavorful and served in satisfying portions. The chicken was cooked just right, juicy and tender. The Greek fries and octopus starter were highlights, both delicious and full of rich, vibrant taste.

Pic of menu on their own website which clearly states the price at $26

Very disappointed with the extreme hike in price here! We ordered 2 chicken souvlaki plates for LUNCH and it was TAKEOUT and the total came to $70.56 We were shocked at the price since the menu (not on Yelp) on their own website said they were $26 each. Thought it was a mistake and was overcharged. Called and nope, the price is wrong online and the dish is in fact $35 each. Absolutely outrageous for what we got as it wasn't that much food! The chicken was good but the salad was brown and dismal. The white rice it was served with was likely minute rice with no sauce or flavor. No tzatziki sauce either despite saying so in the description. Definitely not worth $70 FOR LUNCH!!!!!! This place was more reasonable when we tried it the first time but never again--we will not be back! Hopefully they don't price themselves out of business. For those looking for similar cuisine in the area, try the Real Donor in Petaluma. Been going there for years! Bigger portions and much more reasonable prices! Good customer service would have honored the price on their website (see pic) and refund us the difference. That's how you keep customers! Suggest they change their name to MEGALUNA to reflect their MEGA prices.

The seasonal menu's offerings were ideal for a rainy April day, when their cassoulet, bocadillo and other cozy options provided the comfort food we were craving. I loved the colorful tables and tasteful decor. It was clearly a regular lunch destination for many of the diners. The bar was packed during the rush, around noon, as well as the other indoor seats. My lunch friend mentioned that the restaurant is owned and operated by a husband and wife team: Annette and Brian. The regulars were greeted with familiarity. It wasn't the kind of place where you're rushed for your order, nor is it a dine and dash location. The menu - both food and drink - has tantalizing options, so it's best to come back repeatedly. My Turkish Coffee arrived quickly after I ordered it, despite Annette being the only server on the floor. I enjoyed the Bocadillo too, especially the pickled vegetables that accompany the sandwich. For those complaining that the portions were small or that the prices were high, the quality of ingredients and depth of flavor are worth the cost and my portion was more than enough to satisfy my appetite, plus I left with the other half of my sandwich as an offering for my hungry twenty-something at home. We ordered a rice pudding for dessert and dug in before I was able to snap a picture! It was delicious though, with the poached blueberries and almonds offering an ideal balance of texture and flavor to earn this simple dessert my esteem. Next time I want to try the beet & sour cream cake though!

Neat as a pin, tiny open kitchen cranking out some awesome food. Of course we ordered too much to try a wider of variety of things but the leftovers will be fantastic no doubt. Ordered a Dip Plate and the Dirty Fries and really could have sopped there. The Dirty Fries were very very tasty and the Baba Ganoush and Muhammara we ordered with the Dip Plate were excellent. Lots of Pita quarters to go along with those sauces. Service was very friendly and amazingly fast. I ordered the local style Lavash Wrap with Lamb Kofta and Tahini Yoghurt sauce and it was extremely good; took half home. The pickled veggies were all outstanding. The other three ordered Grain Bowls, two with Lamb Kofta and one with turmeric chicken with toum. All were delicious with plenty for the next day. The Moroccan red wine we ordered was very dry so perfect with the spicy (but not too spicy) food. A Sonoma gem for sure. Brisk takeout business. Parking is difficult unless you opt for the small public parking lot a block South which is what we did; underused parking lot so parking is not an issue. We will be back.

I've always appreciated the fresh ingredients and authentic flavors, which made me a regular customer. But here I am at 2026, shaking my head, wondering what happened to the original vibrant flavors and the restaurant's knack for impressing diners. I ordered the Mediterranean salad, hoping it would taste the same as it always has, with generous chunks of feta cheese, ripe olives, and a well-balanced vinaigrette. But I can honestly say I was extremely disappointed. They used to include large, crumbly blocks of feta cheese that I could crunch up and enjoy with the olives. This time, I received a salad with only about three small olives and shredded Parmesan cheese. I added my own vinaigrette, along with salt, pepper, and olive oil, but that barely enhanced the flavor. The taste seemed really off, reminiscent of week-old vegetables that had been sitting in the fridge too long, losing their freshness. I'm sorry, Nick the Greek, but this time I have to say you failed me. You did Sonoma County and me a big disservice, leaving me disappointed with a meal that fell far short of your usual standards.

We've also gotten a chicken pita, the mediterranean bowl, and the side salad. Fries don't really travel well so we've refrained from getting those unless we're actually there. The lamb/gyro bowl has usually been solid since the meat has been good. The chicken pita the meat was pretty dry unfortunately so we've ventured away from that one. I liked the mediterranean bowl for the crispy chickpeas. It'd usually be a lot of lettuce and rice though and not enough of the other veggies. There's different inconsistencies with the food and what you get on that end balance wise. Adding veggies or just the regular included veggies would not amount to much, but feels worse so if it's a cost. We've also gotten the sauce and fries on the side since usually the fries wouldn't be worth it delivery wise, and the sauce on the side makes things easier to control.
