SCW and I stopped into King Falafel while driving through Sebastopol needing some lunch. We were greeted by the employees and looked over the menu which is available by paper or look overhead. I ordered the king sandwich which advertises 5 falafel inside with the ability to customize it with 13 different ingredients. I got all of them. It comes in a huge wrap. SCW got the green falafel wrap. It was a little smaller but a big portion. My wrap was delicious. Everything worked well in the wrap, great flavors and very filling. I didn't think I'd be able to finish it as it was huge but finish that monster I did. The interior was nice and clean. You can eat inside or they have some tables outside as well. It seems like locals really enjoy King Falafel as well. Great value, service and quality make it a great restaurant in my opinion. read more

Hubby had a King Falafel "sandwich" (really a wrap), I had a chicken "sandwich," with a side of Humus (some of the best I have ever had). The Chicken warp was excellent, and the serving was extremely generous (still have half in the fridge for another meal), hubby is still working on his sandwich too (it was twice the size of mine!) Service was good (we ordered for take out), not a long wait. We came here after going to the movies at the Rialto (a block away), and will make sure to come back soon! Prices were very reasonable. They also sell some pantry items: Olive Oil, Tahini and so on. Nice, clean spot, not fancy, but very comfortable. If you are in the area you should treat yourself to a special treat. The food is amazing! So tasty, fresh and clean! This is my new go to when I want Middle eastern/Mediterranean food. Today I ordered 2 vegetable delight shawarmas (one for later) :), lentil soup and French fries. Everything exceeded my expectations. Easy-to-miss storefront but so glad we happened on it. We almost thought it was closed since it was so dimly lit outside. Amazing food. Restaurant is older looking, simply furnished. Every item on the supreme gyro plate was delicious. Chickpea impressively came through the hummus. Baba ganoush was extremely silky. Tabouli was so fresh. Usually a forgettable intermission bite, the pickled radish was one of the most memorable elements. Falafels were also delicious and freshly made. Most restaurants around had waits upwards of 45 mins. This was the forth restaurant we stopped at. They were empty around dinner time on a weekend but it absolutely shouldn't be! read more

Friendly place with classic falafel stand food. The quality of the food is reasonable and sometimes excellent, which is good because it's your only option for Middle Eastern food in Sebastopol. There are some great pictures and artifacts from Palestine, which is great, though the ambiance gives cafetería more than cafe. I've been three times, and every time the service has been slow. A true gem. Family owned, fresh, delicious flavorful food. We had a falafel plate, swapped the tabbouleh for babaghanoush. Falafel was crisp and moist; dips were the perfect texture and rich with flavor. Had a craving for pickles midway through and ordered the pickle plate - so glad I did! It was a saucer of pickled cucumber, turnip, radish, and cauliflower, briney and spicy and a beautiful vibrant red color. We also had the lentil soup, which was a large bowl with warming spices and soft pita on the side. Loved watching how this place is truly a family affair, with youth members working front of the house. Next to us, there seemed to be a family party connected to the owners - at one moment, they brought out the most gorgeous cookie sheet of knafeh. I couldn't stop staring at it and finally asked what it was (it's a dessert of shredded phyllo, cheese, pistachios, and yummy syrup that has a hint of rosewater). It was so beautiful I was nearly moved to tears. The sweet family gifted me a piece, and then I actually did cry a little. It was the best dessert I've ever had. Order it! read more

On our way through West County, we got a little turned around trying to drive through parts of Sonoma County that have current protests, and we found ourselves in downtown Sebastopol. I was craving some hummus so I searched for middle Eastern and Mediterranean foods and found this place. Over 5 years ago I used to work in Sebastopol and I remember I tried this restaurant when it first opened. I don't remember what I ordered but it was not memorable. I reread some of the most recent reviews and someone mentioned that the restaurant had been taken over by new ownership and the food had changed so we decided to give it a try. When I walked up I noticed that they had some interesting covid distancing measures put in place including social distancing for standing and ordering and areas for wiping down with sanitation wipes and hand sanitizers. I placed my order for a beef gyro with fries and the king sampler plate as well as a side of two pieces of baklava and extra tzatziki sauce. As I waited for my order, I watched the gentleman at the register as well as the gentleman making the food, and I was pretty impressed with their keeping germs off of food skills. I also looked around the restaurant and noticed that the seating area was very clean and a couple times I was able to see into the kitchen area from the waiting area and it seemed very clean as well. Once our food was ready, the man behind the counter was extremely grateful for our order and he seemed super genuine in his thankfulness that we were continuing to support his business. The food smelled so good I couldn't even wait to get home to eat it. My hummus was smooth and flavorful, the falafel were amazingly crunchy on the outside and hot and fluffy on the inside. The baklava was luscious with crispy layers and not too much sweetness. The downsides for us were that the sides of tzatziki were really runny however the flavor was good. Also, the gyro was good however it didn't have any yogurt sauce on it, which is sort of the cement that holds the sandwich together and resulted in it being a messy to eat item. Overall prices were good, service was friendly and fast, and the restaurant was clean and I had no concerns with being contaminated by the other patrons or by the people making or serving the food. I would definitely return here for their friendly atmosphere and their good food. read more

Don't know how to do 3.5 stars. I wanted to love this place as I heard so much about it. The place was simple and clean and it had a small patio. We got takeout . The service was friendly. I ordered a beef kabob and it was nice to have it come with tabouli and hummus. I was expecting a cubed beef but instead I got ground beef (kofta). It was flavorful but a tad burnt. The hummus was a tad salty. We also ordered the king sampler and I enjoyed the babaganush and the dolma. The falafel was on the small side and it was quite dry.
