Great hotel located about 1 mile from Comerica Park and Ford Field and awesome views of the river and Windsor skyline.

This property is housed in the 1925 Metropolitan Building, a stunning Neo-Gothic "Jeweler's Building" that sat vacant for nearly 40 years. Seeing it restored to its former glory rather than being demolished is a win for the city.  The entrance lobby and the grand stairway to the second floor are phenomenal--the restoration team clearly put a lot of heart into preserving the marble and the ornate details. Because the hotel has to conform to the original historic footprint, the rooms are unique and oddly shaped. It was a refreshing change of pace to stay somewhere that broke out of the usual "cookie-cutter" hotel mold. My room featured a long internal hallway, a small kitchenette, and enough windows to provide a fantastic view of the Detroit skyline.  Check-in was seamless, and the staff were excellent throughout my stay. I initially considered subtracting a star because my room lacked a steamer, but the breakfast service won me back. The made-to-order omelets and the yogurt granola station were top-notch, and that high-quality start to the day made up for any minor room omissions. If you appreciate architecture with a history and a bit of character, this is definitely the place to stay in Detroit.

From check-in through check-out, the front desk staff was incredibly friendly, but above all they were attentive. They did a wonderful job of making us feel truly welcome. The room (two queen sized beds) was clean and aesthetically pleasing. We had no mechanical or plumbing issues whatsoever. The morning breakfast is not complementary. Although still a buffet, were quickly appreciated they had elevated the quality of the hot food items and added friendly table service that never left our coffee cups empty. Some food items could be ordered à la carte, which I thought was a nice touch for those who do not want the entire buffet. We noticed the hot food items were freshly made. The valet service was always friendly. The fitness center was two rooms that provided space to exercise. Overall, the property was clean--inside and out. Although we didn't participate in a conference the meeting rooms looked like a great place to meet. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

It has an old school vibe to the place and isn't your cookie cutter hotel. The lobby is beautifully decorated in Victorian decor. There is a coffee shop and speakeasy located on the first floor. The rooms are different and ours had a spiraling staircase that led to an upper level. The staff were great and friendly and room was clean and we had no issues at checkout.

The location is definitely the highlight, it's right next to Tigers Stadium, close to Ford Field, and within walking distance of the NBA arena, plus tons of great restaurants and bars nearby. If you're in town for a game or event, the location is hard to beat. That said, the hotel itself felt small and a bit cramped. The room was on the smaller side, and the bed wasn't particularly comfortable for a hotel at this price point (around ~$350/night). For that cost, I expected wayyy more space and comfort. One downside was the hotel bar,I couldn't even get a seat and didn't realize you needed a reservation, which was frustrating and took away from the experience. It's not a bad hotel by any means, and it has a cool vibe, but overall it feels overpriced for what you get. Decent stay, great location just not sure the value is there.

Had to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn the first night so in the morning, we thought we'd check our luggage. No need, room was ready! Beautiful room. A few observations: front desk clerk, though professional, was unfriendly/unwelcoming. The significance of this place is legendary and should have more the a few small cases of memorabilia. I would definitely recommend this place.

My Titanium status got me an upgrade to the 23rd floor and I was able to access the Westin Club there, which is what they call their concierge lounge. Free snacks and breakfast was available. My room was at the end of the hallway and supremely quiet except for one loud drunk bunch returning at midnight who were talking loudly and slammed their door. Otherwise all good. The room was comfortable and clean with plenty of space for spreading out my stuff. The bed was also comfortable though the "Westin mattress" is showing some wear. Sullivan's in the lobby is rather expensive. There's also a Starbucks in the lobby. I'll be back in Detroit soon enough. I'll be aiming for this hotel.
