You walk in and there's a clothing store on one side and black curtains straight ahead. I just stood there confused for a second until someone suddenly appeared and escorted me through the curtains, down a long dark hallway, and into this intimate, dimly lit bar. Turns out, I had accidentally stumbled into a speakeasy. The space is tiny--maybe 6-8 seats at the bar and a long banquet along the wall for 10-12 more people. No menus either. They ask what you like and don't like, then craft a cocktail specifically for you. The pours are generous and the bar is stocked with top-shelf liquor. About a drink and a half in, I realized I needed actual food immediately and had to leave. The staff was friendly, personable, and chatty, and because the space is so intimate, you naturally end up talking with the people around you. Definitely more of a solo or date-night spot than a group hang. Such a cool, unexpected experience.

Ambiance: I have to say, most hookah lounges do not pay much attention to their aesthetics but this establishment has kept it minimal but appealing. They have brown & black leather chairs and marble top tables. The place was filled with clients (both female & males) - this may seem like an odd comment but a lot of hookah lounges seem to attract an older mostly male clientele. My friends and I were very pleased to see a lot of female as we just left another hookah lounge after feeling out of place as it was a sausage fest (excuse my language). The music was on point as well! The hookah it self came with variety of flavors. They had a large selection of drinks (alcoholic & non alcoholic). Points for great indoor ventilation which appears to be lacking at most hookah lounges. It would have been great to have food options. A lot of customers seem to be ordering pizza and eat there.

The peach mint didnt pull well, meaning no billows of smoke. If you are going to make a hookah, you need to ensure that you are putting out the best product. Also, why would this establishment serve Puck coals rather than cubes. Then again no one in MTL knows how to make a Hookah.

But it's definitely in a good location, walkable to Old Montreal. I booked the Mega Guest Room, which was very spacious and came with a bathtub in an open bathroom layout. The FH&R benefit also comes with free breakfast and a $100 property credit, which we used to dine at the hotel restaurant (see my Restaurant Tbsp. review). Rather than a buffet breakfast, we got up to $50 credit per person and ordered à la carte. Overall, the service was great and the room was clean and spacious. Definitely a good use of the Amex FH&R benefit.
