Came here for a work dinner with a large group. It was early enough in the evening that it wasn't too busy. We did have a large party which I know can be a lot of work however the overall service was extremely slow-- from ordering our drinks to our food order. The food was pretty good, but again unfortunately the service was extremely slow.

Great Food, Great Vibes! Always a great experience at Mi Buena Vida! The staff is always so warm and welcoming. The restaurant is quaint and full of character. The food never disappoints and the salsa bar is truly unmatched! My go-to is always the octopus & cheese tacos. The octopus is always cooked to perfection! My husband is a huge fan of the fajitas. Truly our go-to spot for date nights, dinner with friends or family, etc.

Mi Buena Vida is officially my new favorite Mexican food place. Every dish is so delicious! I ordered one serving of enchiladas which comes with three filled with cheese and topped with molè sauce that was so good. Perfectly balanced! The team was super friendly and made sure my order was perfect before giving it to me. I also enjoy eating at the restaurant as they have a great patio and the best, most extensive salsa bar I've seen. Portions are generous and staff is super kind and efficient. Highly recommend.

Liking this place a lot more than I used to but possibly for the wrong reasons. The Mexican food is still pretty mid in my opinion. However, it's easy to jazz up the flavors with 1 or 6 of the outstanding salsas available at their salsa bar. I rarely order the Mexican food here, with the exception of the shrimp ceviche, because the Baja burger is divine. Seriously, this burger is easily in my top 3 in the whole city. The weird, but awesome fries that come with it are so different and truly outstanding. The cocktails here are also legit and don't leave me wanting. Service is excellent and the vibes are amazing. If you haven't tried this place in a while, give it another shot. I'm glad I did!

The salsa bar is what sells it! So many fun options to pick from. Of the ones we tried I most enjoyed the ranchera and berry ones. I also enjoyed my sangria margarita. The cauliflower taco was good but still can't hold a candle to the cauliflower taco at a certain Holladay taqueria. The citrus dressing on the salad took the simple salad to another level. The waitress had informed me that both the black and pinto beans as well as Spanish rice offered as sides were not vegetarian. Overall was good but would like to see more vegan and vegetarian options.

Proof that good food + great service + ambiance still exists. We loved our night at Mi Buena Vida in Sugarhouse. This jalapeño margarita was delicious, the cauliflower tacos and spicy camarones (shrimp) felt elevated for the price and were so good, the salsa bar was fun. When we arrived the restaurant was half full and the server blessedly did not seat us right next to everyone else but in our own little corner - a small gesture that makes a difference. Attentive and friendly service proves dining can still be fun. @mibuenavida_ut you're a star

At the recommendation of a friend we celebrated my birthday at Mi Buena Vida. The restaurant was welcoming to our party of 7. The staff was friendly and took great care of us from apps, drinks and our dinners. We all choose something different and everything was delicious. My only thing was the sauce on my dish as well as others was waaay too much. It seemed to drown out the dish. If we return, I will definitely ask for either the sauce on the side or ask them to use less than 1/2 their normal.

The pork rib tacos with sweet potato. Yum!!

Such a wonderful, delicious dinner here with friends! The atmosphere was perfect on a warm Spring day. I got the pork rib tacos and they were absolutely divine. Even the house salad was incredible! And the salsa bar is amazing! Our waitress was so patient and kind.

Mi Buena Vida's queso is the best thing I ever had! I got the cauliflower tacos, which are always delicious, but I dipped them in the white cheese, queso. My taste buds were dancing! You can always visit the sauce bar for a variety of different salsa. The service is always fast, friendly, and high-quality. The restaurant is atmospheric and fun. They have a side for dining and a side with a bar. They have tables and partial booths that can accommodate parties of almost any size.

My fiancé & I loved the Nachos the first time we went there and were really excited to come back with our family. Unfortunately last night the service was very disappointing. I understand that it was very busy and chaotic however ignoring or neglecting certain tables is frustrating. Our waitress was hard to flag down. I felt really bad about another customer that walked in and tripped into our table walking down the incline. The food was good. The ambiance was laid back. It was very loud, crowded, and surprisingly warmer than last time we went. They do have the best nachos in the valley and a very generous portion. This may be a take out spot but I don't think we will be dining in again.

Service was super quick and polite. The food was good and portions are massive. Good value for the price. The restaurant is a bit loud and I couldn't hear my date across the table so that was a negative.

    Nachos!!!! Huge and fantastic!

Haven't had a bad meal here, in fact everything has been amazing! The salsa bar is killer and has tons of flavors in a wide range of spice. Margaritas are super tasty. I tried the habanero and it was really good! Not super spicy, great habanero flavor. Cauliflower tacos are bomb, same with the fajita skillet. Get the nachos but share them!! They feed an army!

We are visiting from San Diego, and so our expectations when it comes to Mexican food are pretty high. We loved the ambiance and outdoor seating area. Easy to find parking and so cute! The drinks were fabulous (see jalapeño marg) and our appetizer of corn ribs delish! We shared the enchiladas as a new experience - choice of four sauces and four fillings. Such a cool option! We tried the carnitas, shredded beef (our personal favorite), and chicken. Went w traditional tomato sauce over enchiladas. Another cool idea- healthy (and yummy) side salad instead of rice or beans for no additional cost. Also shout-out on the chips w seasoning and salsa! We would absolutely recommend and come again. Also this is the play for a first date -- the service and food was SO fast! You can get out fast if you don't like your date!

The staff was friendly and welcoming. The restaurant was very clean. First of all, Muertos Cantina is a total vibe! The inside is so cool with fluorescent lighting, colorful decor and bottles displayed beautifully behind the bar. Even the bathrooms are worth mentioning! Each one is decorated differently with tons of bright colors. Seriously, each bathroom is like its own little fiesta sanctuary. Now for the FOOD! They start you off with fresh tortilla chips and a trio of salsas, and the chips were AMAZING (especially the flour chips). Each salsa had its own completely different flavor. The Red Chile Arbol had some heat, the Chipitle Lime Crema was smooth & creamu, and then there was the milder Tomatillo Verde, which was my favorite. Soooo good! We also tried the Agua Frescas. They were refreshing, flavorful and really pretty to look at. The watermelon was probably our least favorite, but to me anything watermelon flavored can sometimes taste a little watered down. The pineapple was definitely the winner because it was way more flavorful and satisfying. Then came the Elote Corn Dip. YUMMY! It had fire roasted corn, cheese, spices, crema, pico de gallo, cilantro and Tajín. It had so much flavor and texture. Definitely one I would order again. My daughter chose the Birria Ramen, and I think this might have been her favorite part of the meal. It had slow cooked beef birria, consommé, melty cheese and ramen noodles with cilantro and red onions, plus lime and radishes on the side. It had a little spice to it and was absolutely packed with flavor. She loved it! My husband ordered one of their burritos with a side of tater tots. The kid in him was VERY happy that tater tots were an option. And FYI the burritos here are HUGE. I ordered the Smothered Spicy Chile Verde Burrito, and OMG. It had braised pork in chile verde sauce with rice and refried black beans, wrapped in a flour tortilla and then smothered with MORE chile verde, melted cheese and chipotle lime crema. It was MASSIVE and SO GOOD! I honestly have yet to find anything in Reno that compares to this one. I would order it again in a heartbeat. And whatever you do, SAVE ROOM FOR DESSERT! We got the churro beignets, and they were fantastic. Covered in cinnamon sugar and drizzled with caramel and condensed milk... seriously, what more do you need? They were the perfect way to finish the meal. Muertos Cantina ended up being such a great first stop on our Utah trip. Fun atmosphere, really good food, huge portions and so many different flavors. Again the atmosphere set the entire vibe for our meal. Yelp came through for me again!

The food is still very good here and some of my previous gripes are no longer an issue. I can now order tacos and burritos à la carte again. While there is still no way to go pick whatever salsa I want and the options are still more limited than before, at least they bring out 3 of my favorites with the chips now. The drinks are still just okay , a shadow of their former selves and I will never be able to accept the loss of my beloved watermelon margarita, the way they used to make it, but I will concede the drinks are decent. Service was fine. Parking is a hassle but that's just Sugarhouse. ‍ So yeah, I guess I'm back to "willing to eat here once in a while", from "I'm never eating here again". They even have a nice taco Tuesday deal which I may hit up in the near future.

Unfortunately, our experience with our server, Letty, completely changed our opinion of this restaurant. There were two main issues that made our visit frustrating: 1. We did not receive our drinks until after our food arrived, and we actually had to remind our server that we were still waiting on them. When Letty brought out our food, we politely asked about our two cokes and were told, "Give her more time." We felt we had already been very patient and only asked after our food had arrived. Waiting for drinks while eating a meal was frustrating, especially since the restaurant was not busy and was actually starting to slow down during the last hour we were there (around 8-9 PM). 2. While we were eating, Letty refilled our water and the table next to us, then continued having a long conversation with the neighboring table while standing very close to us. It felt like we were being completely ignored, and the lack of awareness for our personal space made it difficult for my husband especially to comfortably enjoy his meal. We understand that everyone has busy shifts, but the level of attentiveness and service we experienced was disappointing. We left feeling frustrated and unlikely to return after this visit and would NOT recommend this place to anyone.
