Mi Café continues to be one of our favorite spots in Puerto Vallarta. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The Asian chicken soup was deeply comforting and flavorful; light yet incredibly satisfying. The tuna poke was beautifully presented and spot-on with flavor; fresh, bright, and perfectly balanced. Then came the chicken Alfredo... and wow. Rich, creamy, indulgent, and honestly one of the best we've ever had. Do not skip the hibiscus agua fresca (called Jamaica in Mexico); refreshing, slightly tart, and the perfect companion to the meal. My hubbs even said that if he had to choose one restaurant in Puerto Vallarta as his favorite, Mi Café would be it for its consistency and value. If you're feeling increasing guilt about your intake of fish tacos and margaritas, you might consider coming here for breakfast. It wasn't a place that would indulge your weakness for gluttony. That was fine by me and Jamie W since we were looking for something tasty but not excessive for breakfast. We were in luck because we found such a place in Mi Cafe. We thought we'd have to wait a while for a table, but fortunate for us, a table opened up just as we entered what looked to be quite a popular restaurant. Jamie went for the MX$165 Popeye Eggs, a pair of scrambled eggs laid on a bed of fresh spinach leaves, ladled with ranchero sauce, and presented with avocado, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and crispy bacon strips (Photo 10). The freshness of the ingredients really enhanced the flavors of the dish. The same could be said about my order, the MX$165 Vegetarian Omelette which was a fluffy two-egger filled with zucchini, red onion, spinach, and sliced mushrooms accompanied by seasoned potato wedges and a fresh fruit cup (Photo 9). No toast needed as the plates were quite satisfying on their own. Located outside the less touristy, east-end area of Zona Romantica. Gorgeous interior and the decor is chic. The restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, with no dinner service. Cash Only. I ordered Chilaquiles with 2 eggs over easy and cecina-beef. The food was good, but not great. It's was too much salsa sauce, it made the tortilla too soggy. I prefer mine with a crunch. One of my favorite breakfast spots. Delicious food and coffee. Sometimes a bit of a wait so go early if you're hungry.

The old man greeting you which I think is one of the owners needs to wake up on the right side of the bed. Always Cranky! The servers are also very rude and it's most likely because of the nasty owner. AC barely works and they have no vents in the kitchen and so it smells awful. Food has also declined. My family and I visited Mi Cafe while on vacation last week. We were there sometime 11:30am-12pm and the wait was only 10 minutes for a table of 5. The inside is so cute and inviting. They had a simple, clean interior. Now onto the food. Everything we ordered was delicious! We had the Pan Frances, chilaquiles verdes, and hotcakes. Everything was fresh and authentic. When we took a cooking class in PV, the chef mentioned that this was his favorite breakfast spot so when a chef says that, it must be true! Especially since we've been burned many times by tourist traps with 5 stars.... This place is off the beaten path but so good! Highly recommend the Mi Cafe breakfast and their omelettes are good too. Mi Cafe is fantastic, time after time! The indoor venue is super comfortable, and adorably decorated with photos, and is usually pretty busy. They are a morning and lunch time spot with breakfast items available all day long. We've tried several items here and everything has been wonderful, both breakfast and lunch items. Some must tries are their fantastic breakfast plates, very generous portions, eggs cooked just the way you like (bacon too if you ask for crispy!), the pancakes are heaven, the crispy potato wedges also a yummy crunchy treat! The steak sandwich is my favorite, I ask for it medium, it's so so good, and the meat is tender and so flavorful, Caesar salad is fresh and very good, the green juice and orange juice prepared to order, service is always great, this is a perfect spot to meet up for a lavish brunch or lunch with something for everybody. Our whole experience at Mi Cafe was nothing short of amazing! Upon arriving we were seated right away. The place was very busy so the host gave us two available options to choose from. The coffee was delicious! I would opt out of getting cold coffee unless you're down with iced diluted coffee (def not a cold brew) but nonetheless my husband enjoyed his cold refreshing drink. Our food was brought out about 8-10 mins after we ordered. It was flavorful, fresh, and crispy. The waiter was very observant and went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. If you're a variety kind of gal get the mi cafe breakfast pictured. It gives you the choice of pancakes, waffles, or French toast. You then have the option of choosing how you like 2 eggs, fruit and yogurt, bacon, & potato wedges on the side. It's a balance of different textures with sweet and salty. It was all so delicious and well cooked. My husband ordered chilaquiles divorciadas which were also a hit but the green salsa was better than the red. My experience was 5/5 his was 4/5 because of the coffee but his food + tasting mine made up for it. The bathrooms are nice and clean and everyone is all so friendly. What a great find. We were tipped off by a local and we are much appreciative for that. We've had breakfast here every morning since we got here and it just gets better and better. We haven't had anything that wasn't delishioso lol great friendly attentive staff that understands English whew lol zero complaints here. Yesterday, I ordered French toast after envying it on friends order in the past visits. Light, Texas toast thickness slices melted in my mouth. The staff are very friendly and efficient. Granted it was our fault we walked 30 minutes to get here.. their hours online say open till 4pm. We arrived around 1:45 and they said they were closed. Returned the second day and just as good!!! Happy to report the quality control of the Fraaanch toast or Pan de Frances is up to par!!! The crusting on the toast sooo good. Several locals were there as well always a good sign for me. I wish I had a few more days really want to try the molletes and chillaquies. It was nice that both waiters remembered us and smiled. I have had some great breakfast experiences in Puerto Vallarta, this is hands down my favorite. Not being a fan of the high humidity, Mi Cafe leads the competition by having air conditioning, not really cold however, just enough to take the humidity out. It's a subdued interior, with a little more space between the tables and larger tables. A small change making the experience a lot more comfortable. Three of us had the French Toast, I was the only one able to finish my meal, the two others brought their leftovers home for a snack. The bread is a little sweet, flavorful, thick and soft without being soggy at all. The fruit side is something that is more of a conscious choice than just a small accommodation. Several different fresh fruits and there were nuts and berries on top of the French toast. The orange juice seemed even more tasty here than other places which is hard to imagine as it is all fresh squeezed. The serving seemed to be a bit more generous than most and that made me a happy man indeed. While I had considered ordering an additional side of bacon to complement the three strips that came with the meal, I'm glad I didn't, it was a lot to eat without it. Our fourth companion had the divorced eggs (two eggs anyway you like, one with red sauce and the other with green. While not over over the top of heat the green on particular was pretty close to the limit for his sensitive palate. Overall he said delicious, great presentation and filling. I do not think you can improve on their combination of food quality, quantity, level of service, comfort, environment and price point. Typical for many of the better places I've been in town, the owner is there, closely overseeing the operations, jumping in to make sure nothing is missed and yet never to busy to talk with you. If you are looking for an American style breakfast this is your place. The atmosphere is very nice it is clean and all seating is in door with AC which many may prefer while siping their hot coffees. I had the breakfast sandwich and was only able to eat half of it so you can totally share these meals if you are not a big eater.
