Service is terrible! We ordered delivery and the staff "forgot" to include our tortillas. We called and my woman asked if they would throw in a couple extra tortillas since we now have to drive to fix their mistake. They refused, and did so rudely. Look as someone who grew up eating authentic Mexican food. Finding it up here especially in a sit down restaurant is hard. This place is definitely much better then hacienda that everyone keeps trying to get me to eat at and i refuse because it's crap. The food here actually has flavor and you can smell how good the food is when you walk in the door. Service was really good, got chips and salsa right away and food out pretty decently. I got the burrito verde and it was really good how ever i believe there definitely oils of been more verde sauce not just on top of the burrito but inside as well. We came here on the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving, which may explain some of the issues we ran into, but in the absence of other experiences I have to base my review on this visit. The restaurant is attached to a Red Rock Inn in Plymouth, though I don't think there's any formal relationship between the two businesses. Nothing about the entrance feels welcoming. Changing the lighting and updating the interior would go a long way to improving the space. We were seated right away, and that was about the last thing to go well for us on this visit. We were brought chips and salsa. The chips appeared freshly fried, which was positive, but also grease soaked. I didn't have any of the salsa so I can't comment on that. My food order was wrong - I ordered a vegetarian combo that should have come with a quesadilla, an enchilada, and rice. Instead, it came with an enchilada, rice, and beans. I don't eat refried beans so this was kind of a bummer, especially because our server never checked back in on us. The rice was fine, nothing special. The enchilada sauce lacked any real flavor - it tasted like canned tomato soup. My husband ordered fajitas and when our food was brought out, they brought him the plate with lettuce, sour cream, etc. It took almost ten more minutes to get the actual fajitas and those were delivered by someone other than our server who basically dropped it on the table and left. I'm not sure if our experience is typical or if they simply weren't expecting to be this busy on the night before a holiday. Overall, not a good experience and I would be hesitant to go back. read more

Being in your third trimester of pregnancy you pretty much will eat anything but I'd rate this place a 2/10 and that's being generous. *Tacos from the dinner were damn near American. * Enchiladas , Burritos had a funky taste to them and left with zero flavor. * Chile Con Queso was a soggy soft taco with just beef and queso. * We got two extra tacos that tasted decent but weren't anything special. read more

We just want to commend one of your staff members by the name of Christian. Christian was our server on Saturday, 4/1/23 in the afternoon. Christian was such a wonderful young man. lWe've been to Mi Camino Real several times before, and this was the first time we were greeted so politely. Christian didn't rush us regarding our order and answered all our questions we had about the food. He was very attentive to all tables. I walked in and stood at the front for a couple minutes. Someone finally came up and I could tell she was over her day. I asked if I could sit in the bar. She just pointed. I sat there alone for 10 minutes. I was about to leave when someone came over to serve me. Place wasn't very clean. Creepy but I've been to worse. Food was good. Liked the salas. It was sweet. Two stars for the nice waiter , the rest bad for food accuracy, not wanting to sit us outside after repeatedly asking them, but then we magically saw people on our way in and on our way out sitting outside.....!!?? Can you say dirty bathroom in a creepy old building that screams shady as hell hotel?? Then there is the meth lab lighting in the entire restaurant!! Over priced! They've really gone down hill. The last 2 times we've been here, the food has been bland and the bill has been expensive. Expensive bland Mexican food is enough, but rude is unacceptable. The LAST time I got a bill, it just said the amount. No rhyme or reason as to how it got so high. No tally of drinks, plates, or appetizers. Just a number on the bottom, plus tax! If you want a dirty place to eat, expensive for what is offered, and rude people, this is your place! Food is good, very colorful booths, great atmosphere. Only issue is there drinks are very pricy! A rum and coke cost $8.50! You can go anywhere else in NW Indiana and never pay that much for a drink. Some staff are polite and good and others are not so great. read more

Honestly staff was rude seemed genuinely mad every time we spoke to them, with the one exception being the man who seated us. Food tasted mediocre. I accidentally knocked a drink off the table and when I asked for something to clean it up the girl got mad I interrupted her texting and then only gave me 3 napkins. Wow, I didn't think I'd be writing a negative update on this place. My husband, daughter, and I went there last week. At first everything seemed the same. We were seated, brought the chips and salsa and then ordered. Our favorites are the chimichangas, with the chicken strips kids meal for our daughter (which she dips in their still awesome salsa). That's where the goodness ended. Prices haven't really changed but the food shrunk. The chimichangas which you could eat half and take the other half home are now tiny, smaller then taco bell burritos. My daughter was not served her normal chicken strips (which are nice sized) but she got four (yes four) chicken nuggets instead. For 4.99 I could understand the changes in the adult entrees but it would have been nice to have it noted somewhere that the portions had changed. But four chicken nuggets that you can get at mcdonalds for 1.00 and charging us 4.99? Service was so-so after seating, but nothing to rave about. I don't know what prompted the changes here, we ate there the beginning of last month and everything was as it always was and now this. We might go back again sometime but it's definitely not going to be our go to local mexican place anymore. I see us eating here once or twice a year after this instead of monthly. Pity as they used to be awesome, I would rave about them to just about anyone. Not anymore unfortunately. read more

You know this type of restaurant. Every town, no matter how small, has this type of "authentic" Mexican restaurant. Free chips and salsa. Mariachi music in the background. Murals of burros and sleeping agave farmers. While I typically enjoy these restaurants, Mi Camino Real leaves a lot to be desired. Based off of numerous dining experiences, I've noticed the following: The chips taste burnt and the salsa is bland. The soda is watered down and their water supply has too much sulfur in it. The service is pretty slow, with no remorse. The restaurant generally feels dirty, menus sticky, bathroom partially in order. On top of all that, it's connected to a very sketchy motel. I typically give restaurants the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the server was having a bad day. Maybe the cook made a few mistakes. Maybe the busboy didn't clean the table well enough. But eventually a pattern surfaces. I would go elsewhere. Hacienda and Yolanda's both offer better food and a better experience. read more

We've been coming to Mi Camino Real for years. We were very excited to hear they reopened with Covid-19 going on. We've never ordered carry-out from there until yesterday. We picked up our food and when we got home, we were missing the fajitas from our order. We got rice and beans without the meat. My husband called the restaurant, and spoke with Rene. Rene told him to come in with the whole order and it would be corrected. When my husband gave him the food, he had a terrible attitude. Rene opened everything and said, it's missing. Obviously. He then told my husband it was probably given to someone else. Rene told my husband he'd have to wait until they made the order over again. There was no apology, no coupon or discount for Rene's error. He told my husband he handled the order. Nothing but rudeness from him. This is a first time we've gotten rudeness from the staff at Mi Camino Real. Everyone else has been very professional. We've referred several friends there instead of sending them to Hacienda Mexican Restaurant, Las Palmas Mexican Grill or Yolanda's Bar and Grille. Very disappointed. read more

Brought my extended family in, and sat in the booth for over an hour. Asked if I could just take the food to go and had to wait another 15 minutes. Also, ordered carry-out through door dash and waited 30 minutes before leaving to pick it up. Staff was just siting outside smoking when we arrived, and when they asked what we were there for they said that it was being packed up. However, we had to wait another 15 minutes before we were even handed our food. Terrible service. They do not care about their customers and will make you wait without any concern for discounting for poor service. Will also lie to your face, and tell you your food is ready then will take another 15 minutes before you even get it. read more

This is okay Mexican - somewhere between 3 and 4 stars. It's not exacly your typical Mexican fare, but they have a wide variety. I was a little put off by the interior as the fluorescent bulbs and bright paints gave me a headache (you'll likely think I'm exaggerating, but see for yourself - particularly the electric blue). They serve margaritas, which is nice, and the salsa was decent. The guacamole wasn't impressive. My boyfriend had a grilled fish dish that was fantastic. My quesadilla rellena (which is my standard wherever I go) had high quality meat and veggies in it, but was really, really greasy - so much so that I couldn't eat the bottom of it. I tried this place on a whim one day with my wife and I must say it was one of the best decisions for dinner we've made. I like to be in and out quickly and every time we are in and out within 30 minutes and the food is terrific! They currently dont have their liquor license but when they get it back the place is even better. The location is some what off putting but the service and food more than make up for it. Mexican restaurants often swing in one of two ways: they're either SO authentic that some customers will swear they hear chickens clucking in the back (not necessarily a bad thing!) or they're trendy, overly glitzy, heavy on flair and basically just an Applebee's with an accent (even if the food's good). Mi Camino Real manages a modern, authentic Latino atmosphere even in a roomy, comfortably semi-lounge set-up where big-screen TVs glow right next to paper-mache parrots. Pricing, especially for lunch, is incredibly reasonable. Most importantly, the food is spot-on. MCR offers a somewhat wider variety than most Mexican restaurants, many of which seem to basically just offer variations on 3 or 4 basics...all dolled up, but essentially the same. Here you get different kinds of dishes made in multiple ways, like the numerous fajita possibilities and flexibilities. For example, the veggie fajita isn't just the basics sans meat -- they provide all kinds of vegetables, and regular customers will note that they experiment depending on seasonal availabilities or perhaps just the attempt for perfection. Another example: the tilapia comes full, head and all, very traditional. Miss breakfast? Try the huevos (eggs) -- never a disappointment for me. Those less adventurous can pick from a variety of standard dishes that always seem to come out just right. read more
