Ollies has the very best blue cheese dip I have ever eaten from a restaurant or most people's home. The wings were smoked and they were excellent. Service matched for food. Delicious sandwiches, but slow. We were greeted right away and asked to choose a table. It took a little while to get a menu and then place our order. The meal took 27 min. to arrive at the table. The sandwiches looked simple with grill marks from a panini maker. The meats and ingredients were what made the sandwiches amazing. The bag of potato chips was ok, but I would prefer to have something better. My favorite was the Turkey Tuscany. We stopped in for dinner while on a long drive just hoping other yelpers weren't going to let us down! They were clearly short-staffed and the food took a while to come out. When the sandwiches hit the table, I'll admit my first thought was that I would endure it because I was hungry. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised when I took that first bite. I ordered the Roast Beef Melt, and it was full of flavor. I also tried the Tuscan Turkey and Chicken Cordon Bleu from others at my table, and they were just as tasty. Very disappointed in the quality of the food. Way over priced for the sandwiches they are serving. I ordered a club and got a ham, cheese and bacon sandwich on regular bread like your mom makes at home! The two paninis ordered for my husband and son were small, smashed super flat and very plain in flavor. All three sandwiches were supposed to come with chips and a pickle, but we only got chips. They forgot the pickles. Paid $40 for 3 sandwiches that were smaller than what you make at home. I could have gotten better sandwiches for less money at Jimmy Johns, which is where we went after only eating half of these disappointing sandwiches. Three stars because, really, this is a deli that serves pretty standard combinations involving boars head meats. It might get more stars based on the experience and atmosphere, but I can only judge the food, which I got to go while passing through the area. It was a roast beef sammich on sort of multigrain, with cheddar, tomato, and a horseradish sauce that I realized as I ate it was probably mayo-based, so not my fave (I would have been happier with some actual ground horseradish). The ingredients were fresh, and it was a good sandwich, on regular sliced bread. But in terms of all the sammiches in all the world, it's not exciting -- compared to say a zingerman's or ike's. They care about sourcing, which is nice. A sign says the coffee is roasted in fort Wayne, the gelato comes from Michigan, and some other stuff. The staff were very nice and welcoming, and they made my food quickly. It did seem like a good place to hang out. It has several different rooms for different uses. And I saw signs about pasta night, so maybe the food at that pops a little more. There seemed to be plenty of parking on the street. I don't know Plymouth, but it looked like a prime main street location. read more

Opie's is great and adds some charm to downtown Plymouth. Their Chicago dogs are huge! The gelato is my favorite part! One scoop swiss chocolate, one scoop creme de mint! An awesome aspect to Opie's is that everything is quality, and they try to support the local community and the health of the people by buying natural items. Wouldn't have found this place without Yelp. It smelled delicious when we walked in the door. They had an area where you could be served or you could just order at the counter. We ordered at the counter and they said it would be a few minutes because of a large party in front of us but we waited less than 10 minutes. One of us had the weight watchers vegetable soup and another white chili. They were both very good. We tried the Italian Panini and Farmer's Market sandwiches and they were excellent. The chef salad was large and everything was fresh. a great atmosphere. Not inexpensive, but worth the price. They also sell deli meat and cheese by the pound. Time to get off your "High Horse." I stopped in today for lunch and was met with a rather crabby guy who took our order. This was my first time here and only decided to stop due to the reviews on Yelp. The gentlemen taking our order could care less that we were there and made no effort to assist us in answering our questions or making us feel welcomed. We waited outside for approximately 10-15 min (at 2pm). Our Club sandwich arrived with no dressing or spread on dry bread. No offering for condiments or can I get you anything else. $19.50 for two sandwiches + chips and 2 beverages = I'll go somewhere else with no attitude and better service. Friendly, old-fashioned feel and exceptional/attentive service without hovering. We had the cheese filled ravioli and spaghetti for dinner. The ravioli was a bit bland for my taste, but the homemade meat sauce saved the day. My wife's spaghetti had real good flavor and texture. The homemade Alfredo sauce was delicious. Very nice side salad with the house dressing. Can't remember the name of the homemade cake we had for desert, but the piece was large enough for us to share...and deliciously rich. I keep mentioning "homemade" because that's one of the great things setting this place apart. No apparent prefab items on the dinner menu. Both were really good and served with a bag of kettle chips and pickle on the side. We also had ice cream, which was pretty good, too. Opie's lists where it sources their ingredients--usually locally or regionally. Service was pretty quick, and we sat outside at a bistro table in the shade. The Plymouth merchant district is lovely with vintage shops, an art gallery, pottery studio, history museum, etc. A surprisingly nice break on our way from Chicago to Kokomo. read more

It's a joy to discover a small, independent restaurant serving good food when on a long drive. All of the franchises serving the same, predictable food whether you're in Phoenix or Portland or Palm Springs don't provide that kind of satisfaction and bit of adventure. In NW Indiana, Opie's fits the bill. They offer a variety of well-assembled sandwiches and salads using good quality ingredients. My wife and I enjoyed an Italian and a club sandwich, both generously filled. I'd only suggest that the two staffers there be a wee bit cheerier. One other thing: Interstates and highways generally go around towns and miss the downtowns, and Plymouth has a surprisingly lively and thriving little downtown. I'm sure it's the envy of other small towns! It's about three blocks long, with old buildings on both sides of the wide main street. There were a number of attractive gift shops, antiques, restaurants, in other words, nice stores, and I don't recall seeing any vacancies. It's another reason to get off U.S. 30 when driving through for a stop at Opie's. read more

We ordered the Smokehouse Stack, a custom sandwich, two sides of pasta salad, and a side salad. The service was awkward and slow as we waited at the counter for several minutes for an attendant. The sandwiches were good but pricey. The side salad was large and fresh. The pasta salad was tasty but smashed into a small cup. We dined in the front of the store since it was confusing how we would eat in the back of the store. Opie's had an interesting flare for a downtown business. I would recommend that you try it once. Sometimes we all need a good sandwich and/or a strong cup of coffee. Opie's will do you one better, offering great sandwiches for breakfast and throughout the day, tasty soups, better-than-good coffee (honor bar), gelato, exotic sodas, and the occasional surprise dessert. Opie's isn't content to simply use Boar's Head high quality meats and cheeses; they cater to customer whims while also inventing all kinds of different sandwiches and soups, including some terrific daily specials (which folks can have emailed to them daily). The staff is the friendliest I've ever met, yet not overbearing. A classic, wood-heavy atmosphere and a variety of seating options make Opie's just right for a lunch date, group meeting (a large room in back can be reserved), informal lunch, or just slurping coffee and taking advantage of the free wi-fi. As a local college instructor, I've held numerous student conferences (and independent study sessions) at Opie's, and the students are always impressed -- some even becoming regular customers themselves. Sidenote: while Opie's Deli is its own great spot, they also provide "Opie's Office" -- a comfortable, casual little bar area that's the only place anywhere nearby to serve local brewery beers and other options besides the standard cheap domestics as well as fairly decent wine and a full bar. In June '09, Opie's also opened a back outdoor patio dining area for weekend evenings, serving a variety of grilled sandwich options for very reasonable prices. My wife and I dropped by for the first night, and it was already impressive...yet another addition to the list of reasons Opie's is definitely one of the best spots in Marshall County. read more

What a great venue to host a party at! We had my sister's bridal shower here and I can't rave enough about the food, the service and the atmosphere. They were very accommodating to our needs. We arrived about a half an hour before the party and I was very happy to see the room was all ready set up with the plates, silverware, tables and chairs. The art work was a very nice touch leaving the room feeling cozy and not so much as a "meeting room". I didn't really know what type of food to have so I just said we would like ham, turkey and cheese sandwiches along with egg salad sandwiches. As good as that sounds some very good suggestions where made to "give the table more color" so we had egg salad on croissants, turkey and cheese with lettuce, tomato and a slice of bacon on a multi grain roll and a plain white roll, a salad with toasted walnuts, blue cheese and sliced pears topped with a nice amount of dressing and then on the tables were plates of their delicious cheese dip with pretzels YUMMY. The service was outstanding! I had asked that the food be brought out about five minutes before the party started and it was (the sandwiches were made fresh), we had carafes of water on the tables and those were always kept full. After the party ended we had left over food and they came in with containers so that we were able to take home the left overs. I would like to say Thank You to the server that helped us take out the gifts to the car. He truly didn't have to do that :) I will definitely host another party here at Opie's Deli!
