Pupusas de frijol con queso de arroz

En lo personal las pupusas están buenas, solo la música muy fuerte la tenían y el baño estaba sucio

Yo no hablo inglés. I was so confused and I couldn't truly understand why a restaurant wouldn't have one English speaking individual on staff! Like really, I shouldn't have to struggle to order breakfast. I started off asking for pollo when I should have been asking for huevos! I honestly didn't think they had eggs and breakfast until I saw the woman's half-eaten plate sitting behind the counter. While trying to order the woman would just stare and shake her head sheepishly like I was the problem. But I was determined to eat at this restaurant. I thought of google translate but I kinda enjoyed fumbling through my college-level Spanish from 2000. I finally settled on pupusas they are a traditional Salvadoran dish of a thick corn tortilla stuffed with a savory filling. It is typically accompanied by curtido, and tomato salsa. Pupusas are also a popular dish in Honduras. It took a really long time for my food to come out and I ordered it to go, but when I got to finally eat these pupusas I could have kissed somebody! They were fresh, authentic, and flavorful. I only subtracted stars for the language situation and the ungodly wait. I'm sure most people would have just left and they would have been pleased with that outcome. But I was in the mood for something new and new is what I got! I would bring back my translator or brush up on my Spanish if you come here anytime soon. The food is more than worth the hassle.

The most delicious authentic spot ever!! I was around the area with my family and we didn't know what to eat nearby. We were reluctant at first but after our meals and the tacos we were dying because it was soo sooo flavorful. We all will be back next week with the rest of our family. SO GLAD WE FOUND THIS PLACE

$2 for those beans? IN A MELTY KETCHUP CUP.

Horrible experience. Food sucks. Service sucks. I ordered one $2 chicken tamal, side $2 rice, $1 tortillas and $2 beans. The side of beans was placed in those tiny ketchup plastic containers!!! $ 2 for a teaspoon of beans? I waited over 15 minutes for one tamal . It was noon, not even busy. What really pissed me off was when she forgot my tortillas I had to turn my car around. Never coming back.

The restaurant looks like a cozy hole-in-the-wall restaurant, so it was a very casual atmosphere. I ordered a Guatemalan-Style Chicken Tamal and a Chicken Pupusa with a Fruit Juice Drink (Ensalada de Fruta). The Fruit Juice Drink was full of cubed apples and was on the sweeter side, but it was refreshing for sure. Now onto the food... Guatemalan Chicken Tamal - This has to be one of the best tamals I have ever had! I am used to the Mexican tamales that are on the dryer side, but their tamal masa was gelatinous almost like a custard, and there were big pieces of chicken meat inside. And the plus side is that the chicken was 99% meat and 1% fat! They did not skimp on the meat in this one. Chicken Pupusa - I am used to greasy pupusas, but their pupusa was significantly less greasy, and that is a HUGE plus. Also, these pupusas were less than $5.00 each and came with a huge side of cabbage. The cheese-to-meat ratio inside was also pretty decent; I would say 60% cheese, 40% meat. My husband absolutely loved all the pupusas he ordered and even bought some to take home to our family. We were served by one of the owners who was very sweet and spoke to my husband in Spanish and me in English; this means a lot to me because in other places, I tend to be ignored while they speak Spanish to just my husband. When we are back in Virginia, this will be one of our go-to spots for Salvadorean food. We are used to pupusas being over $5, but these pupusas were less greasy AND much more affordable.

I wasn't feeling up to the big chains and places I wanted to try seemed to close early. Luckily this place was open and I had been wanting to try it for a while. Definitely it let a hidden gem! There are some parking spots right in front, although not many. There is a decent amount of seating, but it would be tight if you had a large party. My partner did note that the bathrooms weren't that great. You immediately get served complementary chips and salsa. They were pretty basic, but not bad. We ordered the following: + Papusas (Pork and Cheese & Loroco and Cheese) - Decent, although I prefer the Loroco (an edible flower bud). + Pollo à la Primavera (chicken dish) - Yummy, especially the sauce which mixes well with their hot/spicy sauce too! I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. It did take a while for the staff to swing by so that we could get boxes and the check. Note that credit cards and mobile pay are accepted. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again to try more items on their menu.
