In an expected space just off of Freedom Boulevard is some authentic Guadalajara eats. The building is understated but the interior is bright and cheerful. For starters, the rice and beens, which are often a throw away part of the meal, were amazing. We were loving the tacos dorados, crunchy and super yummy (the wife). The asada burrito was really good with flavorful meat, healthy cheese pull, and tasty tortilla (right up there with our burrito lover's favorites). Liked the chicken enchiladas, queso birria, and relleno. But again, the rice and beans are and worth ordering if they don't come with your entree. The staff were cheerful and helpful. Back in college my best friends and I would come to this place every single Monday. The food is that good! We were all back in town for Christmas break and decided to eat here for old times sake. It's still just as delicious! The carne asada tacos are very flavorful with that perfect amount of crispy-ness. Same with the Pastor tacos. The add ons are always very fresh. The service is consistently so kind. When we graduated they actually gave us all Mi Lindo swag which was very fun. The vibe of the restaurant is great and it's fun to be able to see them cook your food. Provo/Utah is known for its tacos/Mexican food and this is seriously the best I've had. Stopped by last night cause I had a coupon and was pleasantly with surprised the set up inside!! It was so cute and they had this taco bar cart they refill with all kinda toppings like salsas, onions, veggies, jalapenos, you name it!!! So as you walk in you order at the register then they bring it out to you and it was so delicious!! we ordered the two combinations. The first being the plate of carne asada which came with rice, beans and corn tortillas. The second combination being the chilaquiles (which are like breakfast nachos) and came with a side of beans and eggs!! Honestly they were both so amazing!! the carne asada was so juicy and the breakfast nachos were my favorite. So just buy both. I'm Mexican, and my mom always makes tacos dorados, so I was a bit hesitant on how good these were going to be. But to my surprise these are AMAZING!!!! The chicken was seasoned perfectly, the rajas were just the right spicy, and the potatoes heavenly! They were garnished with a light red sauce, cabbage, sour cream and cheese. I have been in many mexican restaurants in different places, Salt Lake, Las Vegas, in Mexico (different states), California, etc., and among them all, this is the worst that I visited. My son and I ate there. I ordered some chilaquiles, those are made with pieces of tortillas, in this case those were burnt, my son ordered a "menudo" pretty bad, no taste, the "caldo" seems like water, not flavor, the meat was not properly cooked. At the time my son paid for the food, he was charged more for every plate, like he was going to pay with a credit card and he paid cash. Funny way to charge for the food every dish has two prices, one if you pay cash and the other if you pay with credit card. Great Guadalajara style food! We went Saturday morning and it was half full. I had the barbacoa style tacos which were stuffed with barbacoa, dipped in a chile sauce and then lightly fried on the griddle. Really yummy! I put the standards street-style taco fixings on them and ordered a side of creamy refried beans and rice. My wife got a carne asada burrito that was pretty big for her. She loved the meat in hers. The food was really good! We had the pastor lonche and the carne asada huarache. The meat was tasty and the portions were decent sized. It was also nice that there are some really spicy salsas. The only reason I took off a star was because service was really slow (there wasn't even a ton of people there either) and my torta had the end/butt/stem of the tomato in it which is annoying. On my way home from picking up my wife from work I was too hungry to make it home for her crabcakes, so we decided to shelve the meal for the next night and pop in here instead. The staff was pretty nice and my wife ordered 10 tacos, while I ordered the Torta Ahogada. Very interesting and tasty flavor, fairly different from anything I can remember having before. The closest thing I can think of that would describe it would be a stew sandwich with pulled pork, but that obviously doesn't do it justice. My wife thought her tacos were amazing too. The hype is real folks; this is about as authentic as its gonna get around these parts. I read most of the previous reviews and decided to head over here with my partner who's a chef and is really really particular about his food; basically you know if he says something is good it is really really freakin good. Based on the reviews I had him get the Birria. He had no previous notion of what he was getting into, but as soon as the food entered his mouth he was practically moaning, nodding his head with his eyes closed. Pretty much I won the lottery with this place. Now, on my end, I'm a vegetarian. And that's not really uh common among Latinos/ Mexicans as far as I've been able to tell because when I ordered my burrito w/o meat it came with meat lol. I speak literally no Spanish so I did a little googling, figured out how to communicate that I literally meant no meat, no beef chicken etc. And they got it right the second go and were so apologetic and understanding and holy cow. This burrito is like a brick. It is HUGE. like imagine the biggest heftiest burrito you can and then double it, literally. I swear this thing has to weigh over a pound. But it is SO GOOD. Sooooooo gooooood. It really is kind of a hole in the wall as others have said. Parking isn't *terrible* but obviously not ideal. The ladies behind the counter are so lovely and welcoming even though we had to be the only non-Hispanic people in the whole building. This place is not very visible from Freedom, which makes it a rare find. The menu had no prices. So one has to pretty much ask about each item. I went ahead and ordered the Molcajete ($25) plus six tacos ($1.50 ea). Everything was more than delicious. The molcajete could easily feed 2 to 3 guests, depending on their eating habits of course. It was extremely fulfilling, tasty, and at a great price. The waiting time was a bit drastic, but everything that tastes good takes its time. The service was decent and the sitting area inside the restaurant is just ok, which made my second visit an order for take out instead. P.S. beans and rice aren't as authentic, but beats out any of the other Mexican fast food restaurants. read more

For me, negative reviews​ fall into two basic categories. The first is the lost opportunity. A restaurant that has potential that goes unrealized. The second is the "it is what it is." A place that achieves its goal, but that goal is unappealing. Mi Lindo Guadalajara is firmly in that second pile. I ordered the stewed beef, and my special lady friend had the pulled pork; both came with rice and beans. Neither had any veggies of which to speak. While we waited for our entrees, we sampled the onions and carrots on the salsa bar. The onions were pretty spicy, and the carrots tasted fresh. My wife's carnitas came first. She thought it was average and a bit fatty. She did like the beans. My beef was served on a styrofoam (!) plate. There wasn't much beef there, and what there was seemed fatty and kind of off-putting. The flavor was nothing special. Likewise, the rice and beans were nondescript. I had intended to order the Chile Rellenos, but they were out. I also tried to get beef enchiladas; alas, they offer only chicken and cheese. My other gripe with this place is the atmosphere, for lack of a better word. It's strictly cafeteria. A bunch of cheap tables and chairs. Some TVs. A dessert counter that looked rather unappealing. That they offered no opportunity to tip on the card we payed with was just as well, as we bused our own table. Not recommend. read more

I rediscovered this place and took my Mexican friend with me. We had birria de res. It was delicious! We then went back another time. I noticed that the food is made fresh but not sure how many times it's heated and reheated. I've gone back a several more times and each time I find things that I don't like. Today was the last time that I will be going there. They left out a container of raw chicken and put it on the fresh/sandwich prep area. Also, one of the cooks was clearly chewing gum - not a huge deal (I was still hung up on the chicken in the fresh toppings prep area). The flavor is there and I know everything is authentic.
