Bigoton Taco plate with side of Piña

There are certainly a plethora of places to eat in the Provo area; but this is one you should definitely visit! The food stands for itself as authentic Mexican cuisine. In addition, they had a nice selection of help-yourself drinks including sodas from the heart of Mexico. My only [small] complaint is that there wasn't a mild Pico de Gallo choice on the salsa bar. Most of the selections there were of the spicy variety. The friendly young man who took our order let me practice my Spanish with him. The kitchen was set up such that you could see the cooks preparing the flavorful dishes. My wife and daughter both had the Bigoton and they were impressed with the amount and taste of the meat on their tacos (2 tacos each of 2 different meats). I had the Al Pastor Burrito with sides of beans and rice. We also shared an offer of fresh pineapple. All were delicious!

As a Southern California native who was told many times that there isn't good Mexican food in Provo, this place surprised me. I love the flavors and that you can control the toppings that go on whatever you get. I always get excited coming here I feel like the service is always wonderful!

Good place! Very authentic. Husband and I got 6 tacos and 2 orders of rice for $16 which is a great price these days. The tacos were rice but the rice unfortunately was a 5/10. It was kind of crunchy and not what i wanted. It was pretty busy for a Sunday night at 5 but they were very fast on getting orders out. Will be coming here again next time I crave tacos.

Solid choice for street tacos. The rice could use some more flavor but adding the sauces is perfect. They have good sauce options. The place is busy at lunch time and is self service.

There aren't many places open on Sunday in the Provo area, but luckily we found this spot. My husband and I shared: - Al Pastor Quesadilla - Al Pastor, Campechano, Asada, and Chorizo Gringa Tacos The quesadilla was so good that we ordered a second one. The tacos were pretty good, but I would probably get regular tacos next time. The cheese covered up the flavor of the meat.

The food was good and the service was great. The ambiance is fun and the interior is inviting. There are traditional options like carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, suadero, and chicken. All of the options for meat can be had in tacos, burritos, or gringas. If you have not had a gringa it is a taco with cheese melted into it on the griddle. Super tasty and not much more than the $2 tacos, they also have a special that is 4 tacos and a drink for $9. We enjoyed our food and found the meat to be flavorful, abundant, and well seasoned. Not too many fatty pieces either. The tortillas themselves are very fresh. We opted for corn with the tacos and gringas as that is the traditional method of serving. The carne asada or steak is well seasoned. The Al Pastor is on a trompo or spit and served with grilled pineapple. The salsa bar is also great and well positioned to add toppings to your tacos after you get the food. The guacamole salsa was amazing as well as the others. They even have a pineapple habanero slaw to add as well as the traditional limes, cilantro, radishes, and onions. All fresh and delicious! The soda fountain also offers Jarritos on tap. This is unique and really awesome. On the weekends they offer menudo and other specials. The space is clean and welcoming. We were impressed with the value for the quality of meat served. We will be back in the near future. Parking is easy as well.

A solid choice for authentic Mexican tacos located in Provo. Don Joaquin has a variety of options from tacos to burritos to menudo. They have a daily meal special to choose from as well. There is also a salsa bar that has so many different salsas and side dishes to choose from. You can flavor your tacos however you like them best. The El Pastor tacos were full of that rich meaty flavor that I just crave in tacos. Tasty homemade tacos. Definitely will be back!

Authentic street tacos! I had the carnitas taco, an asada gringa, and a side of pineapple. Everything was excellent. Will definitely eat here again next time I'm in Provo. Counter service was quick and friendly, ambiance was busy and very casual. Perfect sort of "dive" vibe.

Gringas tacos are on point. But my favorite--and my wife's favorite--was the al pastor quesadilla. It was so good, we ordered a second one after we finished our meal. The service was blazing fast so be sure to attack the salsa bar as soon as you finish ordering. If you're not fast, your food might be getting cold while you're waddling between the salsa bar and your table.

It was super easy to find and because of the time of day, I found parking without a problem. I do suppose it is harder to find parking when the businesses in the area are busier. I did have a bit of trouble opening the door so the guy had to come let me in. I saw a few other people have the same issue as I was eating--it seemed to be stuck. The guy ringing up my order recommended the burritos but I had already made up my mind before I arrived: Birria Tacos and Elote on the cop...but in a cup. They also had Jamaica which I thought was awesome because I have only been able to find Jamaica in more southern areas like Houston...so I ordered a glass of that too! The food came out super quickly. The Birria Tacos were a bit small but they were also less than $10 so I still consider that a win! They were packed with flavor and I loved the consume on the side as well. Now, the whole reason I came is because I have seen the trend of Mexican Street Corn and wanted to try it for myself. Not a lot of places I have been to offer it so I was excited to find a place that did offer it. I like all the ingredients within the dish so I thought I would love it...but I didn't :( I really didn't like it at all. I rarely don't finish my food and I didn't finish my cup of corn. One thing I will say though, is it seems like I just don't like this specific food and it has nothing to do with the way it was made. It was presentable and exactly what they said it would be. I am just not sure why I didn't like it. As for everything else, it was awesome. I really really really got a kick out of the decor inside. It is more than cute and you can tell they put so much effort into the design of the place. It is also very spacious--there is plenty of seating for you and your friends. I drove from Lehi just to go here and I recommend people in the area do the same!!

I wanted to love it but it was a little dry and bland. When I added sauces it tasted a little better. I'd say like a 2.5/5 Gringas pastor- 4/5 I wished there was more pineapple I felt like it paired well with the meat. For there being cheese on top I expected it to be a little crispy but it wasn't. I still thought it was good. Gringas asada- 5/5 the asada meat was good Birria tacos with consume- 3/5- I felt like the Birria was a little bland and needed more salt. Still enjoyed it but didn't hit the spot. I did however wish I tried this dish as the QUESO BIRRIA- which there being cheese on it I think makes the taco a little more solid. So maybe I'll try that next time. Esquites - 5/5 it was delicious. All the sauces they had though were delicious so anything you paired it with tasted a little better. Overall this place I liked. They have such a variety in their menu that I wouldn't mind coming back if I'm in the area and trying other things out. Staff were really great and friendly. The ambiance there is super cute and mellow.
