Everything has always been wonderful with the food and service. They also have some very nice entertainment at times.

I ordered chile relleno to go and got back to our hotel only to find the cheese still in a chunk--it had not even melted. The peppers were hardly cooked and lacked any kind of heat. This was the blandest chile relleno I have ever had--and more expensive than most. read more

It is cute and all, but the food was not at all what I was hoping for. The enchiladas were covered in an orange cheese, where's my Chiauaha (sp?) cheese that I live for when visiting a Mexican restaurant? I loved the chips, but the salsa was very bland. I ordered chicken tacos for my kids and they were tortilla and chicken. My kids weren't impressed. Even the rice and beans weren't great. Maybe I'm spoiled with all of the authentic places I'm surrounded by in the city, but for me, this one just missed the mark. My parents live near there and have been there several times so for them, I suppose it works, maybe because there is a lack of quality Mexican restaurants in that area. This is a restaurant we eat at often. The food is delicious. However we just experienced the very worst customer service. We asked the server to split the check between two credit cards. She put it all on one card. The manager came over and rudely said she won't adjust it and blamed us. She complained that she has to pay a service fee. Ate at Mi Mexico for the first time yesterday. Ordered two lunch specials, the #4 Burrito with chorizo and my wife ordered the #7 Chimichanga with shredded beef "picadillo". My eight year old son ordered a cheese quesadilla off the Child's Plate. We all enjoyed our meals. We particularly enjoyed the refried beans, they were very tasty. The rice was very "fluffy" and not dried out like I have had at some other Mexican restaurants. The waiters were friendly and attentive. I think next time I will get the #10 Burrito as the #4 only had chorizo in it and I think I prefer one with other items inside like rice and beans. The chips were warm and were served with two salsas, one regular and one "spicy". All in all, a very enjoyable lunch. read more

Although I've found some good Mexican taco places and a handful offering great Mexican food, I'm having a hard time finding Tex-Mex that compares to San Antonio offerings (I know, that's a BIG ask). My hopes were high when I found Mi Mexico. Walking in, it fits the bill of a Tex-Mex restaurant. Even the appearance from the outside welcomes you in a way that you'd expect, "¡Bienvenido!" to be a common greeting. We were here for the food. That's where I became disappointed. All I remember was how bland the food was. I had cheese enchiladas (my go to for trying a Tex-Mex restaurant and a good way to gauge whether or not I'll return). As I stated - bland. The service was ok (not memorably great). The appearance and cleanliness were great. The food was just not doing it. I won't be back unless persuaded by a group of friends. read more

Believe the negative reviews and DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME and MONEY. This was the absolute worst experience I've ever had. Food and service was terrible. The men behind the bar and the waiters were extremely rude and when the owner came out I thought would try to correct them, nope they were worst and condone disrespecting and treating customers poorly. Many of the reviews said this and it's true. I didn't feel even feel safe and wanted to get out of there as quickly as possible. I wish I had believed the reviews and avoided this place. Went here for dinner and drinks on Friday night and there is a reason it's crowded! They have good specials on drinks... Friday it was $5.95 margaritas (a couple tequila choices). They have a large menu so you will find something to eat. My main problem was just deciding on what to get! They have a variety of appetizers and each main dish is grouped by meat... so a section on everything chicken, another one on fish, etc so it's very easy to find what you are in the mood for. They also provide you with chips and dip (bottomless), I recommend if you like hot to ask for the hot salsa... they start you with the mild so you have to ask for it. They do not mess around with the hot salsa... it's definitely strong! Not horrible by any means but only for those who like the spicer side. Whatever you do... make room for dessert!! They are tasty and larger than you think. Definitely could share between two people, which I would recommend because I had to take mine home! We will definitely be coming back :) read more

We love Mi Mexico!! As a vegetarian I can tell you they are so accommodating, their refried beans are YUMMMM, portions are huge, menu is expansive and we always love whatever we order. Everyone at work loves this restaurant. I honestly thought it was a decent establishment. I must admit their Carne Asada is pretty good! I just find it weird that they don't serve carne asada tacos?! Anyway I'm very generous giving 3 stars at all... Customer service was HORRIBLE. We ordered specific types of tortillas - and it was all switched around. So they bring us extra tortillas........after asking nicely for the correct tortillas AND THEY CHARGE US EXTRA FOR IT! ummm... we shouldn't be charged for this...... If you do want to try their food make sure you go in afternoon hours or early evening. Online store hours is different from what they say! Every time we call to ask what time they say different times. Online for Fri they said they close at 10:30 but when I called just to make sure they will take us in by 9:15 guy tells me they close at 9:30. My sister called again to reconfirm and lady tells her 10! This is the 3rd time this has happened to us. What kind of Mexican restaurant serves coleslaw? Or broccoli with fajitas? Their salsa tastes like spaghetti sauce. This is some of the worst Mexican I've ever had and to top it off, it's EXPENSIVE for the most unauthentic Mexican food. We thought we would dodge a bullet on mothers day, ha! Not a chance, this place was packed too but we did get there early enough to beat the dinner rush wait. This place is a solid mexican restaurant which is hard to find in the north shore from my experience. Portions were generous, splittable if you are like my wife and I. House margarita was ok, I have had better. Maybe it's because it was mothers day but they were cranking out a lot of pretty frozen drinks this night. Service was ok for them being as busy as they were. Menu is massive. As for atmosphere, you are packed in with the rest, so not much privacy to be had, in fact we were treated to all the pains and ills lived from the table next to ours, ugh. Mexican/spanish people actually work and eat here so that is a good sign in my opinion. Do I like it better than Lalo's, Las Palmas, Zapatista and El Jardin (The Glenn)? Yes I do, although I will maintain that Lalos has a really good margarita. As avid readers of my reviews know (say what?--avid readers?--anyways), we have been on the prowl for Tex-Mex, having found some other restaurants to have taken the route of bland. This restaurant was lively (and musical) on a recent Friday evening. And the food? Not bland, solid! The restaurant is roomy, assuring seating quickly if not immediately. Bright colors surrounding you send the message that this is a fun place. We ordered our usual Tex-Mex: guacamole, steak tacos and chicken enchiladas and one Margarita (what can I say?). One cannot fairly expect a trip to heaven and back with Tex-Mex, but one can expect well seasoned and fresh food--that was the case here. So what I'm saying is you can expect to order your favorite Tex-Mex and have it served quickly with a little feeling of a fiesta, finding your order hits the spot. As for the music, a one-man band guitarist played during the evening. He was good and his music was still conversational friendly. Is he there often? Who knows! Pros: 1. This restaurant is taking COVID very seriously. They offer limited dine in service (with social distancing) as well as outdoor service, and they are serious about wearing masks! 2. We ordered for take out and even when we got home a while later the food was still good (as were the leftovers we had the next day)! 3. This is one of few Mexican restaurants that offer actual vegetarian dishes (other than rice/beans and cheese). I come in for lunch about once a week and then the wife and I come in about the same. Sometimes we end up coming in about 3 times a week. The lunch specials are amazing the have a reduced menu of their combinations as well as "supreme lunch specials" which are lunch portions of select and more popular entrees. Only complaint is I get back to work and I need a nap, lol! For lunch I usually stick to the carne asada, the arroz con pollo, or the expresso burrito off the lunch menu. When I come in for dinner I've had just about everything but I love the whole red snapper, the tampiqueno (i'm sure i butchered the spelling), the fajitas, and the chile colorado! my wife usually gets the tapatio salad, the large shrimp cocktail, or we split the mexican trio. They have a great selection of tequila, The bartender put me on to my new favorite tequila, since i like them smooth, the 1800 crystal i think he called it. you'd have to ask him. I've seen a lot of reviews mention price but none of them mention that the portion of the food is quite large. the whole snapper comes on like a ceramic tray and while that's the biggest size dish i've had they dont get a whole lot smaller. This is our favorite spot to eat at in the area and whenever we have company from out of town, our kids and friends, we always call and make reservations to make sure we have a seat waiting for us. USED to be my favorite Mexican restaurant Went there Tuesday, March 20 I believe with my very best friend, with a $50 gift certificate I purchased for her birthday a couple of months ago. I always order the Cammerones Portugese, but said Portugese shrimp. The waiter misunderstood and gave me fish, which was more like dry chicken breast. I sent it back. My friend went to complain to the manager and he said he'd take care of it! My friends food got cold as she waited for my food. End result= No compensation, no apology. Was more like reverse discrimination. Us Gringos don't speak proper Spanish. Well we paid the check in full, $49.60. I think we were kind with the $4 tip we left. Dined with my wife for the first time at Mi Mexico on Saturday evening. Place looks traditional Mexican. It was packed. The wait for a table was about 15 min. We decided to eat at the bar. The bar staff was very friendly and helpful. Cocktails were good, fairly priced. The food was really good, very tasty. We ended up sharing big size of fajitas combo with everything on the side. Huge portion, easily for 2 people. If looking for a traditional Mexican food, I definitely recommended it. read more
