A good but pricey place for tacos and other south of the border favorites. It has small portions of everything unfortunately and your bucks won't go very far here. Tacos Guanajuato specializes in tacos of course, with many authentic or more common fillings you don't always see in tacos. Pretty small tacos that are one bite and done. You have to order a few, and then those cheap prices add up. I have checked this place out a couple times and tried some of the margaritas and tacos here, which are pretty much the main things you can get. It has a big list of margaritas. There's a ton. It's $12 for the House Margarita. This is the basic kind with lime and garnished with a dried out lime slice. It's the cheapest one and still expensive. This thing also is tiny. It comes in a small glass. Speaking of small, the small tacos. All of these are bite size, as in a bite. It's $4 for the Vegetarian Taco, and more for the ones that have meat. This one has avocado, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and red bell peppers. It falls apart pretty easily. They also go light on toppings so it's even less of a meal. Good tasting but pretty overpriced drinks and food. It won't even give out free chips and salsa like any normal Mexican restaurant. I haven't been here for about two years because I thought the prices were high. We decided to give them another try on Cinco de Mayo. I still totally believe the prices are way too high for the food we ordered. In addition to that, they added a $2.50 "convenience charge". What for? I left a good tip considering we ordered takeout. I ordered 3- $5 vegetarian tacos and asked for avocado. They charged me $3 for each taco getting one (maybe) 1/8" wide slice of avocado. so a $15 order became a $24 order. Kildeer is a fairly affluent suburb, not sure what that message really meant. Service was slow. Wow! What a hidden gem! We found this place by accident as it was late and needed some dinner. Picked it over others locally because of yelp reviews. SO GLAD we did! Very friendly people working there, very cute space & offers out door dining if wanted. They have a ton of tequila offerings and Mescal. This is based on a carryout order on 10/23. Ordered online and it does make you sign up for an account but that takes 1 to 2 minutes, and for a first timer they give 10% off the bill. It also gave an estimated pick up time and my food was ready right at that time. I got the veggie taco, the sweet potato taco and the grilled veggie burrito. Favorite one was the sweet potato as that is not a taco variation I've had before. My wife's favorite that she ordered was the lamb taco which she described (in a positive way) as a Mexican gyro. I've been a fan of Tacos Guanajuato (aka Tacos G) in Kildeer since it first opened a few years ago. The decor is bright & cheerful, staff are always helpful and friendly, and the food is delicious. I typically will get an Al Pastor taco at any new place I try as that's sort of my benchmark, and because it typically packs more flavor than some other typical offerings at Mexican & taco places. The Al Pastor taco at Tacos G is one of the best around, with an incredibly savory sauce and of course including the signature grilled pineapple on top, along with shredded jicama, some diced onion and cilantro. The tortillas are flavorful without being greasy, and they usually hold together, which I appreciate since nobody wants their taco filling to fall through while they're eating. One of my other favorites is their lamb taco: The lamb is very tender and slightly crisp, and it's served on a flour (instead of corn) tortrilla with cilantro and a sauce that's similar to tzatziki, and a bit of feta-style cheese, lending a Greek flavor to the whole thing. Every once in a while, Tacos G will have a duck taco on the menu, which is always a treat (I love duck!) but today, I had the duck taco and it was different than the last time I remember having it. Served with shaved cucumber, carrots, pickled onions, black sesame seeds and a homemade tamarind sauce, this was, without question, the best taco I've ever had in my life. Savory, slightly sweet, a bit of tang, and a wonderful element of heat - all in combination with a very tender duck and the crunch of the carrots and cucumber - made for an exceptional taco that can hold its own against the best anywhere. I'm hopeful that the owners of Tacos G will consider making this version of their duck taco a permanent menu item. I should mention, too, that other things I've had here are excellent as well, including their chips & salsa, guac, tamales and even their salsas (both red & green). If you haven't tried it, do yourself a favor and go, soon! read more

Food and drink quality is amazing! Known for their Mexican street, Tacos Guanajuato did not disappoint. They have a variety of different tacos and a couple of different Mexican dishes on their menu, and they all come with freshly made tortillas! Taco prices range from $4-$5 each but they are well seasoned and well proportioned. I also tried their drink special, the Dragon Fruit margarita which was delicious and refreshing! We visited on a warm Saturday afternoon and it we didn't have to wait to be seated, however I do wish the staff was more welcoming as we walked in and left the restaurant!
