I had the tamales verdes. It was two pork homemade tamales in the corn husks! Creative display for serving. Place was busy. The sangria and Paloma were very weak on the liquor. We did say something and they immediately took care of it.

Thoroughly enjoyed Tacos Guanajuato. Guacamole was favorable, the fajitas were hot, and the salsas were tangy. I left here singing Despacito :)

Was super yummy, from drinks to special lunch menu with generous portions... Never had a Calamari Taco, delish... Excellent & friendly Servers...

The best Mexican food in the whole United States, I will die on this hill, nothing comes even close to the taco perfection and margaritas brilliance

Menus for your specials.... great stuff and variety.

I am from California, so my Mexican food taste is bias...but this was a game changer! Thiis restaurant is unassuming outside. It looks like fast food. Then you get in, and the vibe is still kinda fast food like....however this food and drink like that of Javiers in Orange county, CA or Antigua in crystal lake. I wish the atmosphere were a little more warm. It's not $18 entree ready. it's like $15 or less. The only bug I have. Everything including service was prime. Wow wow wow. delicious! Marg's are on point, food is insNly good and service was spot on!!

Came here for lunch and very much enjoyed it. The server was very knowledgeable about the menus and told me which food was best. I got chicken flautas and they looked amazing and tasted great. The ambience was also very nice.

A good but pricey place for tacos and other south of the border favorites. It has small portions of everything unfortunately and your bucks won't go very far here. Tacos Guanajuato specializes in tacos of course, with many authentic or more common fillings you don't always see in tacos. Pretty small tacos that are one bite and done. You have to order a few, and then those cheap prices add up. I have checked this place out a couple times and tried some of the margaritas and tacos here, which are pretty much the main things you can get. It has a big list of margaritas. There's a ton. It's $12 for the House Margarita. This is the basic kind with lime and garnished with a dried out lime slice. It's the cheapest one and still expensive. This thing also is tiny. It comes in a small glass. Speaking of small, the small tacos. All of these are bite size, as in a bite. It's $4 for the Vegetarian Taco, and more for the ones that have meat. This one has avocado, pico de gallo, queso fresco, and red bell peppers. It falls apart pretty easily. They also go light on toppings so it's even less of a meal. Good tasting but pretty overpriced drinks and food. It won't even give out free chips and salsa like any normal Mexican restaurant. The bar is a nice place for watching games on TV eating your overpriced tacos and stuff.

I went today for the first time ever! And it was so yum! My dad complained a little saying it was not gonna be authentic and yada yada yada , I said you can't knock it ... he was just upset we didn't go to first watch (eyeroll insert) I said you have been ! Let's try something new! I loved that it was 10:30am and I got the tequila menu handed to me first HA! That was awesome , normally I don't care what time I drink, but I didn't have any... we still had errands so I settled for water and also some Jarritos! So I looked at the menu and ordered some nachos! Steak nachos! My mom had Barbacoa and Al pastor tacos , my dad had a torta Cubana , my daughter had 2 Al pastor tacos and let me tell you.... I'm Mexican and these were all amazing ! Okayyy we love tacos and tequila ! I mean I have the shirt to prove it! Sooooo I know what I'm talking about lol! The food was authentic and delicious ! So flavorful and only 29 mins from me so I will be back to try the tequila ! Lots of parking , cute decor! Near the Apple Store in case your getting a new phone and they tell you it's gonna be 20-30mins go and have a tacos and tequila break lol! I absolutely loved the service and the salsa ! The decor, my waiter I want to thank you for coming to the table and giving me a thumbs up when I had a mouth full of nachos so I didn't have to talk back thanks for that! Y'all are absolutely soooooo good! Okay That's all ! Buh bye!

The meat is high quality and nicely cooked. Rice and beans were very good as well. The thing we missed was more flavor and heat!! I'd love to get a little heat from jalapenos or spices, but it was not there. The salsa was not too hot either. We're not heat freaks by any means, but we do love some spice in our Mexican food. The burrito also had rice in it so my side of rice was probably not needed. All in all the food is good and high quality. What I'd love to have is more flavor and heat!!

As someone who follows a vegan lifestyle, it can sometimes be difficult to find places with good options--but this spot really delivered. They offer a variety of vegan choices that are not just an afterthought, but actually well-prepared and full of flavor. It's rare to find a place that gets both food and service this right. Whether you're vegan or not, there's something here for everyone to enjoy. I'll definitely be coming back and recommending this place to friends and family. Date of visit: 4-7-2026 - early evening…read more I've never been there before. I usually go to other Mexican food restaurants in the area. The place was clean and roomy. I took a booth and was given an extensive menu. The server offered chips and salsa. I was brought a small basket with about 10-12 large chips and a small shallow dish of watery commercial grade salsa in the basket with a tablespoon in it. Not having been given any additional plate, I guess I was expected to spoon the salsa onto the chips over the basket, because the dish was too shallow to dip a chip into other than the very tip of each chip. I ordered what I usually order at most Mexican food joints - taco dinner al pastor with onions and cilantro no cheese on anything including the beans. Service was prompt. The beans had cheese on them which I returned, and a dish came back without cheese, except when I took my first fork full, there was a strand of cheese left. The cook had just lifted the cheese off the original dish instead of replating the beans. The rice was formed into a perfect half moon shape on the quite large square plate. That is usually a signal to me that the restaurant is into portion control, as the aesthetics as can be seen from the photo attached make the rice look like a small amount. There was little flavor in the rice but something I did not expect - a slight fish flavor in the rice. Every fork full (only a fork and napkin provided - I guess the spoon from the salsa can be used as double duty) tasted like fish. That was a big minus. Either they use a fish base as part of the rice cooking process, or the cook used the pot for fish and didn't wash the pot prior to cooking rice in it. Or he was using a spoon that he was using for fish as well. Either way, I don't find fish flavored rice appealing. The beans were not puree and also contained whole beans, but were bland. I ordered the tacos with corn tortillas because I like the tortillas a little crispy, but these were somewhat soft. The al pastor meat has plenty of sauce and was minced. The meat sauce was very average in flavor, hardly any spice. Maybe the meat needed salt, but it sure needed something. There were two squirt tubes for sauce on the table, one green and one red. I tried the green sauce, it was too creamy, wasn't spicy and didn't do anything for the tacos. I finally used the remainder of the red salsa from the chips. I was given a few tiny wedges of lime (probably sliced also for the bar drinks) for three tacos, another indication of portion control over focus. I took a photo of this meal, not for reviews, but to show my girlfriend who was out of town what I was eating since she hadn't been here either. So I looked at the photo before leaving, and I then noticed that there were NO onions on the tacos despite asking for onions and cilantro. The kitchen wasn't slammed, so I just chalked it off to further inattentiveness by the cook despite the server's instructions. That may have added to the lack of flavor of the tacos, but it was really the al pastor sauce and seasoning that didn't cut it. All in all, I was disappointed in the meal. I didn't go to my regular place just to give this place a try. It seems the ball was dropped at every turn for this very simple staple meal at a Mexican restaurant. I would give this place a 4 out of 10 for the reasons given above. I wouldn't go again. The food was not terrible, but lacking in flavor, and the cook was obviously not into what he was doing. There are other places close by where the food is superior to theirs.

Compared to similar restaurants in this space, I prefer to go here with friends for its generally quieter atmosphere and overall vibe. Maybe the biggest complaint here is that the food preparation can be a bit inconsistent between dishes, and between different meat types. That is, that the output can range from delicious to somewhat average (and sometimes overcooked), depending on what you order. For example the birria was super flavorful and served with very crisp tacos and a delicious consomme, but the cilantro-lime rice and refried beans felt like an afterthought. The smoked pork belly quesadillas had a great flavor and just about the right amount of fattiness that was short of perfection due to the pork being overcooked. The tres leches cake also had a great creaminess and flavor to it, but parts of the cake weren't really soaked in the milk at all, which created an inconsistent experience - depending on where I took the bite. On everything I tried though, the presentation was excellent and there were enough great things about each dish to overcome some of the shortfalls. Overall though, I feel with improved execution on ensuring that all elements of the dishes are equally good in terms of texture and flavor -- there's a lot to love about Ancho & Agave. But even in its current state, it's still an enjoyable spot to take a group of friends for tasty food in an impressive looking spot.
