Popped in for dinner and, as I usually do when I'm alone, took a seat at the bar. There were other parties in booths in the bar area, but I was alone at the rail. No matter. My bartender was there pretty quickly and, after hunting for it for a few minutes, finally found the Jose Cuervo I'd ordered. Chips and salsa followed, along with a menu, and I ordered a la carte because full Mexican meals have become more than I want to eat. I ordered a chili relleno (my test of a Mexican restaurant) a tamale (no choice of filling; they came the way they came) and a side of tortillas. Living nearly half my life in Arizona and California, I have eaten a lot of good Mexican food, and this was pretty decent, especially considering it's Indiana. The relleno was made with a fluffy egg coating, then deep-fried as opposed to simply dipping the Hatch chili into scrambled eggs (which I'm told is also legit; I just prefer the puffier variety). Pretty tasty! The tamale with its mystery meat was also good, and I believe I detected a touch of molé in the sauce. All in all, I'd give the food four out of five stars. The area where Mi Pueblo fell down was service. My bartender took my orders (a drink, then food), brought the food, but then dropped the check without me asking for it, and without him asking whether I'd like another drink, dessert or anything else. It felt like I was being rushed out the door. Then, he disappeared before I could retrieve my credit card, which would have taken literally five seconds, if that. Then I waited a fairly long time for him to come back ... but he never did. I had enough cash to cover the check and a much smaller tip than I'd have otherwise left, but they apparently wanted me to leave, so I put down the dinero and obliged. All in, I'm giving Mi Pueblo four stars for the food and two for service. Average: three. read more

Just delicious! We had the mocajete with chicken, shrimp, steak and mushrooms. Everything was perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. For dessert we devoured the Chimi cheesecake which came with ice cream and two dipping sauces-very yummy! Service, food and atmosphere were all 5 star. read more

Stopped in tonight on way to Ft Wayne and I can tell you that the customer service and waiter were very friendly and fast. Looks like this restaurant has a good staff on board to keep your experience good. The food was average for a Mexican restaurant and nothing to say we have to come back to get more. I would say it was of the occasional places you keep on your list to visit ever so often. No bad experience at all and if the food was over the top it would be on my list to visit more often! The rice was extremely bland and the tacos el pastor were very dry, so be careful if you want to get these. We also had the chicken el pollo and it was good, little dry advertised in the chicken but had good flavor. Wife had the Mexican pizza with shrimp and she really liked it. If you get the tacos individually they are ground beef and not steak, so be careful. read more

My daughter and I went to lunch here, the service has been better but this time it was ridiculous. We walked in to the hostess stand and the young boy was on his phone, I said, "Hello, 2 please, thank you." He grabbed the menus and walked so far ahead of us we couldn't see him as we walked up to the table he threw them on the table and walked away. After we ordered, ate and got a Togo meal for my older daughter, we waited 20 minutes for a receipt then as we went up to pay the fella there didn't say a word to us took my bill and my money and handed me my change then grabbed his phone and got on there. As a former restaurant manager I can sometimes be too critical, but I must say this place is running on all cylinders! Amazing service, great food, hot fresh and the Decour was amazing. The bathrooms were great all around a good experience. What was really amazing is the fact that we went at 3:30 PM on Wednesday, that is the time to get the worst service usually at restaurants and this restaurant was on point. What a great place to eat. They are always quick to seat you. The chips and salsa are not far behind. The servers are always top-notch. They are friendly and willing to answer any questions you have. I have eaten here many times. I have tried many different items off the menu. Everything is always hot and fresh. It's just delicious and I can't help but clean my plate every time. I guess if you haven't had great Mexican food, you might enjoy this, but overall, very bland. Steak was overcooked in the tacos (dry), Salsa has no flavor, everything overall was just basic Mexican food. You get a lot for your money, but I'd rather go somewhere else. Will not be back. read more

This is by far my favorite place to eat in Wabash! I've been there 2 times within this past month. The whole place is warm and friendly. And service is always great. I'm a huge fan of this restaurant. Mexican food is my favorite, and I love the authentic feel of the decor as well as the food. The service has always been great. Food delivery is incredibly fast, and their salsa and chips just keep coming. Both are great. My favorite dish is Arroz con pollo with sour cream, and the portions are always huge. I also love the enchiladas and chicken fajitas. Everything I've had here is good. I often get carry out, and it's always ready very fast and is hot when we go to pick it up. read more

Stop by at their new location. Never got to eat. They're new restaurant is not conductive to large families or parties. So if you go with more than 6, be prepared to be asked if you'd like to sit in to booth. We declined that offer because the whole point of going out was to eat together. We watch group after group be seat in their booth made for 4. We saw many empty booths that they couldn't fill with large groups and only a few tables. Very bad design. We wait and wait and they didn't give give us an update, apologize or really even talk. Two big issues: lack of customer service and bad dining room design in a brand new building. read more

Excellent! We both had Burrito Monterrey, one beef, one chicken. The burrito was huge and the best I've ever had. So big that I took half home. We ordered a large guacamole, which was uber fresh and served in the stone mortar and pestle it had just been made in. Covid precautions were great: staff all masked, tables spread out. The building and furnishings seem new. Server was great. Only downside for this beer drinker is that they only had light beers (why bother?) on tap. We will definitely return. read more

Had the pollo Vallarta and buddy had 2 chicken tacos for lunch. Pollo was great, cheese sauce was very good, not too rich. Buddy said tacos were really good. And the total was 14.95! Not comparing to Ca or tx, but very good for IN. read more

Ordered for pick up from Mi Pueblo's tonight. I normally love eating at this location but tonight the experience was horrible to say the least. Called 10+ times before anyone picking up or getting through on the line. Finally someone answered and with more of a shout of "Hello!" than a kind greeting over the phone. We placed our order and said we'd be there around 7 or so to pick it up. Ran some errands before heading to the restaurant then when arrived we waited in a line to get up to the cash register where one would normally pick up food. Once we got to the counter we told the individual (Juan) that we were here for a pick up and gave a name and items that we ordered and he said "not ready yet." As he quickly dismissed our presence in front of him and rapidly went back to checking out other customers. We waited on the food for 5 minutes or so, (understandable they were busy) and then it was brought out to Us we paid the total and were handed our food. As I went to the vehicle to head home I realized we seem to be missing a container of some sort. I got to the car and checked and one of the entrees we ordered was missing entirely from the bag even though it was confirmed correctly over the phone initially. I then headed back into the establishment to inform someone we were missing something that we had ordered. The same individual that I was dealing with since I had entered the restaurant initially (Juan) helped me again. We told him we are missing an item and he seemed to wanted to argue with me and tell Me that no what we had in our bag is what we ordered and we didn't order what I was telling him we did. He didn't seem to be apologetic in the slightest. When I asked if I could speak to a manager and someone higher up he continued to tell me that he was the manager. I then asked for our other entree to be made so we could have everything he ordered and there seems to be no sense of urgency. He continued to check people out and ignore the fact our order had been messed up and that we were standing there in front of him waiting for our problem to be resolved. Didn't grab anyone else to help us or show the initiative that he was going to fix our problem. I then told another woman in the restaurant who was on staff that we didn't have the time to wait any longer and we just wanted our money back. Other employees were lounging in the chairs and furniture around the restaurant while this was going on. Once JUAN came back to the front from where he was he then ripped the receipt out of my hand and opened the cash drawer rudely proceeding to give Us back the amount we initially paid for our food all of it in total. He handed back the cash to me and proceeded to then grab the food back that we had already ordered and take it and put it back on his back shelf! Now we've all wasted an hour of our time as a family and we are left with money in hand, NO food, and most of all NO APOLOGY. As I asked him for his name and told him I'd be putting a review online once I returned home for such horrible service and ruining my night, he tried offering Us our food back that was already made for Free! Which was what should've been done initially to begin with as well as an apology instead of acting like I was completely in the wrong and the mistake was somehow made on our end. This was a very unprofessional approach by a "manager" and definitely a disappointing experience from a restaurant that is normally a family favorite. So MI Pueblo. This is the first of the tale of two Mex American joints in Wabash. I will say that this is NOT bad food. The thing that needs to be said is that this joint leans heavily towards the "American" aspect of Mex-American cuisine. The comparison I will use to be fair to the other joint is Tacos. Here you will receive a flour tortilla with ground hamburger and some white cheese. If you order something with chorizo in it, like "Choriqueso dip" you will get melted cheese with ground hamburger once again. I have a problem with this, but I get it. Using the same disclaimer I wrote regarding the other Mex-American joint in town, is that I'm not going to get into the difference between "real-deal" authentic Mexican, Tex-Mex, and Mex-American. This is another Mex-American joint catering to the local Mid-Western Taste buds. You will get the standard menu items you'll find anywhere else in similarly styled joints. White cheese sauce over everything. I wish them luck with their new location. read more

I am a fairly new resident of Wabash. Was excited when i walked in and realized it was family owned. The people are nice, and the food is decent, but there is a defined language barrier that makes dining here a challenge. I've now been 3 times, and yesterday got carry out. Each and every time there has been an issue with misunderstanding. I am a mid-western person with no real accent at all, and I like to think I express myself in a coherent manner, yet mistakes in our order have happened every time. Yesterday instead of a FULL order of nachos supreme (which by the way, comes with NOTHING on them but the meat, beans and cheese) I came home with FOUR orders of nachos. (The kids picked things up, and didn't check before they left because they are ... well... kids.) Each visit has been disappointing. read more

I was part of a 22 person group and when seated took 32 min to even take my drink order and another 15 to take my food. The food did come out fairly quick but prob because most was microwaved. Several people in my party complained of cold food. They even brought out ice cold beans (i guess they forgot to nuke that one). I travel a lot and was here for work. The food was on par with most good Mexican restaurants where the employees are actually Mexican. If you want to sit at the bar, you can't. No bar, however the service was the fastest of any restaurant I've been to lately. The food also came out very quickly. My server was smiling and friendly. I'd eat here again. Some reviews say it's "Americanized". I disagree. I had a couple of tacos, a chile relleno, and some ice cold Tecate beer in bottles.
