Stopped by on our way to Boston. Was a sit down restaurant... A little hole in the wall. There were 12 of us. We were a little nervous to go in but it was fantastic! The Carne Asada was absolutely fantastic and so was the burrito. The shrimp ceviche was some of the best we've ever had. I don't think they were equipped to take 12 people on as well as all of the takeout orders they were trying to fulfill. So, be a little patient as they run to fill your orders. I order a Milanesa de Pollo ($12) but it didn't come with Rice. So it was just the chicken and fries. I called but they were closed since I ordered it at 8:30pm. I called the next day to let them know it didn't come with rice and when I did call to let them know they told me they would give me the rice, when I showed up they basically told me to buy it. Very very poor service. Never got chips with salsa, as the other tables around us did. Took the server 10 minutes to take out order. As far as I know, Stamford, CT isn't exactly the culinary capital of New England. But for a quick bite while waiting for my appearance in the studio audience for the Maury Povich Show just a 10 minute walk away, it was a perfect choice. There were plenty of chains to stop in for lunch, but being a bit of a locavore whenever I travel, I wanted a more mom and pop experience. Mi Ranchito came recommended in the nearby restaurant feature on Yelp and it didn't disappoint. A family operation with a ton of options that'll make it hard to decide. Ended up going with a plate of pupusas, and some Peruvian tacos. Let me tell you, this was enough food to feed a small army, and at a price that'll make your financial advisor very pleased. Dirt cheap for the amount of tasty food you'll receive. It's authentic, and definitely not a Cheesecake Factory. This place is Peru without the flight. I last had lomo saltado at a little stand in a market in Lima and the dish here equally rivals that. The to go portion is easily three servings. They had everything ready to pick up in ten minutes which is a major plus. It's hard to deliver flavor like this that fast. read more

Dissappointed. I come from a background that enjoys Peruvian cuisine and i was shocked as soon as I took the first bite. Peruvian roasted chicken is very well known and famous for its distinct flavors but the roasted chicken I received was bland. No flavor or texture. I'm embarrassed to mention this location around the Stamford area. The only flavor was the green hot sauce provided. Let me preface this by saying that I've been to Peru and had the real deal lomo soltado. I've been searching for some good lomo stateside and I think I've finally found it. My order to go was a ton of food. 9 bucks for 2 adult portions is a steal. The quality ranks high. Even without yellow sauce, the flavor is there. It's a bit heavy on the fries, but still legit. The service was great and so polite. I love supporting these small emigrant run businesses that have been true to the area before yuppie inhabited apartment complexes flooded the area. It's a great experience and a no brainer when deciding between a mom and pop joint or a chain restaurant. Downtown has nice spots but you'll bite the bullet on price. My niece found a hair in her food so quietly I told the waitress but her response was it had to be a a hair from a corn husk but I insisted that it wasn't because of the texture so she got a bad attitude and said that it was from my black friends wig. Bad Customer service on the phone when placing orders. I called in with multiple items on an order that required 2 credit card payments and 1 cash payment on delivery. I made that clear in the beginning of my order. The lady said to give her the full order and then later tell her what portion was to be paid in what way. I proceeded with the order and then she collected one credit card payment. When I prompted to say the next card was to be used with this portion of the order she said she can not take another card, I asked why? I had driven by Mi Ranchita 2 many times not giving it much thought. Friends who live in one of the nearby high rises eat there regularly and invited us to join them. I love authentic Latin and South American cuisine and MR2's menu offers a good variety. All four of our meals were excellent. Don't miss the Passion Fruit Punch.
