Fantastic Company!! I recently had them do work on my roof, porch and install a sump pump. They went out of their way to make sure I had the correct type of roof on a low pitch part of my roof. When Mike and Lee saw the condition of the roof boards after removing the shingles they switched to "peel and stick" roll roofing. This caused extra work and expense for them because other materials had already been delivered, but they wanted to make sure my roof was done the right way. The roof looks great! Steve, Dino and his crew did a great job on the porch and the sump pump. The porch looks so much better now that it is level and the cracks are filled in. The water does not all run towards the house and into the crawl space. I really appreciate the extra effort to get the sump pump deeper. The only access was a small opening inside a bedroom closet. I know how much more difficult it made the work because they had to dig in a small confined area and they were digging into wet clay. It is so much nicer and safer with the discharge pipe relocated to the other side of the house instead of running across in front the gate. Now I can simply go into the closet to start the pump. I used to have to go outside and bring a hose in through a window before pumping water out of the crawl space. Everyone was so friendly, polite and professional. This is a great company to deal with and the work was excellent!! I will definitely call them again and will recommend them to everyone I know. read more

This company did work on a house I just purchased. They used fortress foundation straps. They installed totally wrong. Basement foundation wall collapsed in. Called owner. They won't take responsibility even though fortress reps came out and said they installed product totally wrong. If anyone has insurance info on this company please reach out to me asap. ABSOLUTE HACKS! We had SAS replace our entire roof with a 50 year warranty in addition to 15 sheets of plywood. We recently noticed that many areas of the roof are sagging horribly and not even safe to walk on. The shingles are blowing off in addition to active leaking. It took over a month to get someone out to the home to look at the issues after repeated phone calls. SAS, could care less about our concerns. The owner, Steve Safie finally decided to show up two hours late. He was condescending and rude. When asked his thoughts after looking in the attic, he stated he had none and got in his truck and left. It was discovered that the ridge vent system was not properly installed. The ridge was not cut out to vent the attic, even though it was installed on the exterior of the roof, except for a very small section right above the attic access. Being that we are unable to climb in the attic due to our age, it was purposely cut out right above the opening to appear to be done correctly from the floors vantage point. As a result of no ventilation in the attic, the plywood is delaminated and incomplete failure due to excessive heat and humidity thus the reason of the sagging on the roof. The entire roof needs to be replaced along with all the plywood. We have a $31,000 estimate to fix the roof, not including the possibility of truss damage and mold, due to humidity being trapped in the attic. This assessment has been confirmed by three other roofing contractors in our area. They all stated the same thing, this was done purposely for whatever reason. In addition to the lack of venting, it was discovered that none of the 15 sheets of plywood were replaced at the time of roof installation. Spoke with Steve the owner of SAS this afternoon, he refuses to do anything for us, besides giving us our money back for the additional plywood that we were charged for and never was installed and then hung up the phone on us. Now our only option is to take legal action against SAS in which we are already pursuing. Based on our three inspections and numerous photos and documentation, this should be an open and shut case. Local problem solvers next on the list! The general public needs to be made aware of such blatant lack of responsibility on behalf of SAS Home Improvement. Terrible company! Beware! I would definitely look elsewhere when selecting a qualified roofing contractor. read more

The crew headed by Andy finished our roofing job today. They began Monday morning and were done by 10 am this morning. The dumpster was delivered last Sunday. The materials and crew arrived early Monday morning and went right to work. The cleanup was constant and the knob was professional in every way. We had gotten a few other quotes and SAS was very competitive. Higher than one, lower than the other The materials were first rate and we couldn't be happier. We had an extensive exterior basement waterproofing job done by SAS 18 years ago. When it started leaking again I had Steve come out to look at it because we had a lifetime warranty with them. Steve told me the warranty only covers their "interior" systems and he gave us a quote to install an interior system. We are in the process of having the exterior walls completely re-excavation by another company and we are finding out the SAS did not do the repairs to our foundation, drain-tile or soil like we paid for. The drain tile was not replaced. The walls were only partially waterproofed. Only a small amount of gravel was used as backfill. The topper is 2 partial filled 5 gallon buckets of old asphalt sealer were found buried around my foundation. Not cool! STAY AWAY FROM SAS!! read more

However, after saying he'd come by for an estimate to do some additional grouting he never showed, didn't return calls, and even SAS Central /Christine couldn't get him to respond. the company was good as a whole-the only issues i had is when they took my washer and dryer apart-it was put back to get her correctly and water leaked in a particular area in the basement and the dryer wouldn't get warm-and instead of fixing it right away-i had to wait until monday when this happened in a friday. instead of them informing me that some of my wooden sleeves broke-they just left them and i had to say something all in all-they were good-put down a barrier to protect my flooring-were consistent with coming/leaving the same time everyday-communication was great and everyone was nice and professional read more

CON ARTISTS! They came into our basement to fix the leaking crack. Prior to doing so, he inspected the whole basement and said "this crack would be the only place there would ever be a leak if ever." He guaranteed it. I paid him and he did the job. He talked trash about all the other waterproofing companies about how they will quote you for all this extra work that you don't need done. Fast forward to some good storms. All of our carpets and wood furniture down there was ruined. It took them from July 5 until August 5 to call me back. And that's only because I kept calling when more and more water came in. They DID NOT uphold their lifetime guarantee. He told me, "you want me to fix all this for free?!" Yes I do because that's what the guarantee is, it's even written on the certificate they give you. After doing the job initially, the serviceman said "I could put a fire hose outside and there would never be a drop getting in." Well, hundreds of dollars in damages that they won't do anything about says otherwise. Save yourself the hassle and the money replacing your belongings and just work with someone else. read more

I called this company after hearing about them on radio. I have a water issue in my basement. After meeting with the owner of the company he had assured me that his company had the experience to address my problem. But that was not the case the only fix that this company offer was the same as everyone. So $500 buck later nothing new nothing fixed just a patch. Was directed to call one of their plumbers when calling around to other plumbing services. I was told he could do the job same day. Our main drain had clogged and we couldn't even shower so I was just looking to get the drain snaked. I was directed to call a guy named Dennis, he was very friendly and he said to text him my info. We were really hoping he could make it there that night since it was only 2 pm and he was 20 minutes away in the next town but he said "we are out of his way". So he said he would be here at 9-10 am the next day and said itd be $150 to snake the drain. The next morning I am up and waiting 10am comes and goes... 11 am comes and goes... Finally at 11:35 he calls to say he'll be here in half an hour. At 12:40 my fiance got impatient and finally called him ready to cancel. He said "GPS says 5 minutes" 10 minutes later he finally shows up. He was very friendly the entire time he was here and after about 30 minutes of snaking the drain he says he only hit the tip of the main clog and that a 100ft snake isn't big enough. The only good thing about this is he said we didn't have to pay him then booked it out of here. It wasn't until hours later that I saw WHY he left so quick. He took off without putting the cap back on the main drain and left the housing for it wide open. He had completely sliced up the threads on the pipe and I can't even put the damn cap on. Unprofessional, poor time management, and reckless with our pipe. read more

I hired SAS Services for basement waterproofing. I bought my house 12 y are ago and my basement has gotten worse and worse. I finally decided to hire a professional company to come out and waterproof for me. After going through a few other estimates that were very high pressure, I decided to go with SAS. The estimator was kind, polite, honest and saved me more money over every other estimate. The other companies put a lot of pressure on me and tried selling me things I didn't need. They helped my move my stuff in my basement. They put tarps through my basement while working. However when they finished the job, they forgot a tarp, but I called them and they came back the next morning to remove it. Not only did they do a great job, they were clean and efficient. With all the rain and snow melting we've had the last couple of weeks, my basement has been dry for the first time in years! read more

Well we were looking to buy an income property and my husband, realtor, and I all waited at a house 30 mins away for our 11oclock appt we made the week earlier. Not to mention they called to ask to change our 10 am appt to 11am. So we all are waiting and no show! My husband calls and the woman answers and casually says " oh the guys in St Clair Shores, he can't make it today" Then after she realized that it was an income property, she states " oh yeah, there's a $175 fee now for inspection". SAS warranty says 100% satisfaction but on the back of the contract it specifically excludes chipping, cracks, scaling, discoloration...... So no guarantee of satisfaction. "GREAT JOB" Steve came out, explained everything to us very thoroughly which was nice. We needed a sump pump installed as well as a draining system in our basement. If I could rate them lower I would... they will rip you off. Do not use them! They are fast talkers and have all the excuses in the book! They took insurance money meant for another company who was also working at my property. They hadn't even submitted a quote to the insurance company but claimed that the adjuster said that they should get that check. My bad for trusting them. Had roof replaced in July. Crew was in a hurry. They finished in no time they were so excited. They broke boards on my roof and didn't replace them. I had over 48 nails left on the ground I picked up. Had to have them come back to put the lines on the roof straight. They only reason I got them back out then is because they left some of the equipment their by mistake and a separate man had to finish the chimney area. They won't return my calls. The bathroom/kitchen vent pipe shingles are all rusty looking on my new black roof. Looks horrible. The must have put cut the pipe to put new cap on. why wouldn't they prime the pipe. Really not a really big extra job for them to do for a customer. PLUS THEY WON'T SEND MY WARRANTY OR RETURN ANY CALLS. They actually don't even pick up the phone. Only person who does, is the sales rep but he tells you to get a hold of the office. Guess I picked a unrealizable company. read more

I made an appt with these folks at SAS to come out to a property my family owns in another city to inspect the basement & give a quote on repairs & sadly to say SAS was a no show which inconvenienced 2 other family members time besides my own...Steve, who is the owner of SAS was the one coming out to the property to inspect the basement, he called my home phone 7 minutes before our appt time to meet but never left a message, his name & time called showed up on my caller ID...What good was calling 7 minutes before our appt time, when I already left to meet with him at the property promptly on time as scheduled. Steve did apologize more than once..but he also tried to justify his no show by telling me how he drives an hour to meet with potential customers & how their a no show & what a waste of time it is for him..WTH! Apparently since Steve gets screwed & inconvenienced, its ok to screw & waste his potential customers time...great logic..right? ..Steve wanted to reschedule & said he would make it up to me in price...I flat out told him..NO, you blew it...if the owner himself doesn't care about his customers time in the first beginning steps of coming out to inspect & bid on a possible job..how can I expect him to care & take pride about the quality, workmanship, timeliness & guarantee of his companies work? I suggest you keep scrolling for another company to do the work in your home....If a company doesn't start out on the right foot...by keeping a simple made in advance, confirmed inspection appt...how can you expect them to care about you, your property or the work for the throughout entire job & afterwards.. read more
