I found this restaurant by accident. I was in the area and needed dinner so I just had google maps open and was scanning each side of the street when MiTaco came up. The reviews looked good so it was a perfect opportunity for a new post. They have classic tacos and premium tacos. They also offer burritos and bowls. I decided to go for some tacos. Tacos are sold individually unless you get the taco combo with a side of beans a rice. I went individual because I wanted to try a few different ones. I decided on Pork Carnitas, Chicken Tinga, Ground Beef and Grilled Steak. You get the option of corn or flour tortillas. Also you choose the spice level of medium or hot. Guacamole is an extra $0.75 per taco. I skipped the guac this time. I chose corn tortillas for all my tacos. This may have been a mistake. The fresh corn tortillas was great but I had to walk a bit before I could enjoy my tacos and the corn tortillas did not hold up. Out of the 4 tacos 3 of them fell apart from all the toppings and moisture. Next time I will switch to flour tortillas if I am doing take out. I'm sure they would have been amazing if I had sat down and eaten them on the spot. Maybe the restaurant should double up on the shells for the corn tortillas? The food was super fresh on the first three tacos. Meat was tender and the crema sauce was perfect. The only downside was the grilled steak taco. I found the taco a bit dry. The flavour was great though. I will come back and hopefully next time be able to sit down and dine in. The place has a great atmosphere! Bonus element is they also have Bubba's crispy fried chicken available as well. We will save that for another day. read more

Was in the mood for tacos and found Mi Taco on Google maps with good reviews. There was no dine in, so we walked in to do a take out. Staff was very welcoming and the place was vibrant and more importantly, clean. Looked at the menu and opted in for the following tacos: Chicken Tinga, Vegan Chorizo & Grilled Shrimp, on corn tortilla ($4.50, $4.50 & $6, respectively), and the Orange Jarritos bottled pop (the staff recommended we try the lime next time). It was easy placing our order and we waited a bit before receiving them. Taste & verdict: The tacos were a little smaller than I had expected for the price paid, but they were loaded. The taco started to fall apart as I bit into it, but the first thing that popped into my mind was how good the corn tortilla tasted. Chicken Taco: I was a little disappointed with the chicken taco, it had shredded chicken in it which did not taste very fresh/had a very strong, and rather offsetting meat taste to it. Vegan Chorizo Taco: I did not try the vegan chorizo taco, however I was told that it tasted good but nothing particularly amazing. Grilled Shrimp Taco: Despite enjoying shrimp, I kept my expectations low after trying the chicken taco, but my taste buds were definitely in for a surprise and this taco turned out to be the best of the 3 we picked. It was considered "premium" and packed more heavily than the other 2, and had shredded cabbage in it unlike the others. It was my definitely our favourite among the ones we had gotten, and my friend who doesn't usually fancy shrimp was wowed as well, and we actually went back and got 2 more after. Overall, really good taco, but I personally feel like the shrimp tacos were a bit pricey, but it does accordingly live up to that price/standards. I tried Mi Taco on Saturday night and picked up dinner. This is a great local spot with a large inclusive menu with solid options for everyone. I got the 3 taco plate with one each vegan chorizo, vegan chicken, and vegetable tacos. They each came with pico, onions, cilantro, and crema toppings. The vegetable taco also had guacamole on top and it was super delicious! I chose corn tortillas but they also have a flour tortilla option. Each taco was large and stuffed with toppings, a great deal. My one complaint is that each taco only came with one tortilla so it got a bit messy because the tortillas couldn't hold the filling. But the flavours and variety was amazing!! read more

Having got back from Mexico City not so long ago, it's taken me a bit of time to mentally prepare to re-enter the world of Mexican food. We absolutely loved the flavours of the region when we were there, but it was definitely nice to return to the culinary diversity of Toronto. Mi Taco piqued my interest due mainly to its decor - the place is really, really fun visually. Brilliant use of light and colour combine with a modern take on a traditional Mexican aesthetic to make this place pop. I could imagine coming here with a few friends in the evening and having a great time. Instead, I came for lunch, and just had one grilled fish taco. There's lots of room for customization (corn or flour tortilla, added crema or guacamole, etc...), but what surprised me was how healthy the taco tasted. In contrast to the heavier tacos I'd gotten used to in Mexico, this felt light and bright. Los of fresh tomato, onion, and cilantro, and one corn tortilla as opposed to two. The fish was flavourful and flaky. Overall, would definitely come back for a delicious, light lunch! read more

Their tacos are great and the selection is outstanding. They even have a number of vegan and vegetarian options. Recently they started selling killer fried chicken sandwiches as well and they're off the charts delicious. Don't have enough good things to say. Their guacamole is excellent, the collection of Mexican pops is vast, and you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. I have developed a routine where I go to the weed store across the street and grab some edibles before heading to get a massage. Then after my RMT appointment is over I hit Mi Taco for a meal and a double margarita to go. Makes for a perfect Sunday afternoon. read more

A friend and I stopped by on a blistering hot August day. It was shortly after 12 noon, the open sign was lit, and the window was up. To me, being a literalist, that suggested that the restaurant was ready for our business. Imagine my surprise when we stood there for 10 minutes, trying to no avail to get the staff's attention while we could see them engaged in a conversation in the kitchen. When we called to them, they looked at us, then resumed chatting. So I phoned, one of the staff walked right by the ringing phone inside, and ignored it. I want to support local, especially during the pandemic. A little customer service goes a long way. read more

Grabbed a bunch of tacos and beers to go and ate at a local Parkette. The tacos were decent, but the corn tortillas pretty much disintegrated within minutes. The salsa seemed tasty but the meat was on the dry side. read more

Such a rip off. The margarita was like a virgin... no alcohol. Such a rip off!! The rice was wack. Don't get it. It was under cooked or I just did not like it's taste. The beans were good. So I do recommend that. The tacos were okay. The tortillas were not hot. Then on top of that not spicy enough and they don't even make their own salsas. But for 26 can dollars. I expect more. This was okay. But def will not be coming back. The inside is cute. But I came here for food not ambiance. read more

Came in at noon on a saturday and split 4 tacos with a friend. Upon entering, there was no signage stating if this was waiter service. However, two nice employees quickly greeted us and said that we are to order at the register, get an order number, and sit ourselves. All tacos had the option of either a flour or corn tortilla. Food was brought out to us within 10 minutes of ordering. There were about 8 tables with some bar seating. The three tacos were almost as flavorful as those at Seven Lives in Kensington and did not contain as much meat - 3 tacos for 11$ was still a great deal. The fish taco was 5$ and was delicious- not much breading to hide the taste. I appreciate table seating here over the obligatory take out style dining at Seven Lives. Also, look out during the winter time. The stairs leading down to the washroom was pretty steep. read more

A cute little place with bright colors and Latin music (a little loud). You order (and pay) at the front and then take a seat. It was a little confusing when we ordered. We started rattling off the different tacos we wanted and were stopped about half way through. We were told that they normally separate the order by person so they can ask what kind of tortillas you want, if you want sauce, guac, etc. Not a big deal, but would be good to make this more clear up front. The food was good, but a bit disappointing. The tacos are on the small side, so for the price thay're a little expensive ($4 to $5/each). They all tended to taste very similar as they use the same sauce and toppings for most of them with the only difference being the main component. I tried the chicken tinga, brisket, carnitas, and grilled fish. All of these were good, but a bit swamped out taste-wise with the sauce they put on top. Overall a nice little place, but nothing I need to visit again since there's a better place a few blocks away. read more

Last week while walking our dog along Bloor Street I noticed two new restaurants, a taco place and a new roti place. I knew I wanted to try both, tonight it was Mi Taco. Located on the south side of the street and just west of Borden Street the place is long and narrow and dark with a few booths for eating in. I ordered two tacos; a vegan chorizo and a fish taco, while my friend had their beef bowl. The tacos were nicely made and delicious, especially the vegan chorizo which had a nice spicy taste. The fish taco which featured fried rather than deep fried fish was good, but not as spectacular as some tacos I have had in other places. However, the place is close by and has a good selection of meat and vegan options ensuring that we will back for more. Check it out so we can keep them in business. read more
