I stopped by Mi Tierra yesterday for a late lunch/early dinner. The ambience is great, it's super cute in there. I have a lot of stomach sensitivities so my diet is quite strict. I ordered the vegetarian burrito and asked the waitress to make sure there was no tomatoes so I swapped the salsa for tomatillo salsa and left out the pico de gallo. I've had a lot of vegetarian burritos and normally they have the grilled fajita veggies in them and I'm really just not a fan. This was not that, honest to God it was the best vegetarian burrito I have had in the longest time, if not ever. And the agua de Horchata was legit. Absolutely amazing food!!!! I live in San Jose where I burritos are everywhere, but the burrito I had from this taqueria is one of the best I've ever had .. and I've had a lot! We ordered 2 fajita burritos, one chicken and one beef and they were full of flavor and very fresh. They grilled the meat and veggies to order and the burritos were huge! We picked this place because it was on the way to Yosemite and didn't have any expectations but were blown away. This place is okay for a quick meal. They keep it clean and the food is always hot. They struggle with service. The service is so so and they have always been like that besides for a short time in the beginning. They also have a really hard time getting our orders right. I'm glad I didn't read reviews before I stopped by this place. I stopped by on a whim because it was early in the morning and they had signs on McHenry for breakfast burritos on McHenry. I thought it was one of those taquerias where you just order and pick up your food and go, but it's a sit down restaurant(but you can order and go as Well). Very cute restaurant and cute decor. It looked really clean and nice to me. I ordered a carne asada wet burrito, menudo and a horchata. My order was ready in less than 10 minutes and the food was piping hot! The horchata was one of the best horchata I've ever had. It was nice a creamy, you can taste the different layers of flavor...the nicely finely milled taste of rice with a hint of cinnamon and creamy milky condensed milk. It's the perfect combination of milky and sweet. I would definitely go back just for the horchata alone. When I brought my food home it was still really hot and I live like 5-8 minutes away. My husband had the carne asada wet burrito with green sauce. The burrito was a nice size and although I'm more of a red sauce person, the green sauce was absolutely delicious. It's a very mild flavor, but complimented the burrito very nicely. It was packed with rice,beans,onions, salsa topped with the green sauce and sour cream. My Husband ate half of it before I could take a picture. I had the menudo.The menudo consisted of tripe and pigs feet in a broth. They give you chopped onions,chili and cilantro with your choice of corn or flour tortillas. While the tripe and pig's feet were flavorful and had great texture, I wish the broth was a little more richer in flavor....it tasted a bit watered down. Also, I like hominy in my menudo and there was none. Super sad. It was still good. They also gave me some chips and salsa from the salsa bar. Their red Salsa is great and had a really nice flavor...a bit spicy, but very good.The lady that took my order was nice and pleasant and let me take my time going over the menu. The boyfriend's carnitas was pretty good, my al pastor was a bit more seasoned than my personal taste so next time I'll go with the carnitas as well. It's a sit down restaurant instead of an order at the counter sort of place, but our orders came out quickly. There's a salsa bar and they give you a free basket of chips, though the chips were slightly stale on our visit. Overall I'd probably still return when I'm hungry post-Yosemite. read more

I've been to all the Taqueria's is Oakdale and Riverbank, so when near Escalon for lunch today had to give this one a try. You order at the table, not a counter. This was nice as I had a little more time - it's a bit slower than ordering at a counter as with others in the area. But it was nice - especially being new to Mi Tierra. The place was very clean and the ladies that waited very nice and quick to help. First came the chips - not your average taqueria chips - something was added to the outside of the corn tortilla giving them a little added texture - really liked them. The salsa bar was very clean and the salsas I tried were very good. I like lengua - a bit of a lengua snob so to speak - so I ordered the super burrito with - of course lengua. It was awesome! Lengua perfectly cooked, no chewy connective tissue - just really good. I gave just four stars this time because I'll have to try it a few more times - but I will definitely be coming back. read more

Nice little taqueria. Quick with service. The ladies are very friendly. Fish tacos are delicious. A little on the pricy side for burritos from a taqueria. Salsa bar is delicioius. Chimichangas have grilled veggies in them, not really my style but I can see how others would find it a pleasant surprise. Well, I have come here a couple of times throughout the years, hoping it would be better. Tonight was the end. The last time I came in about a year ago, I was acknowledged 2 times. Once when she took my order, and second when she brought me my food. We ended up waiting for about an hour, and at that point it was pure curiosity to see if she'd ever bring our tab, before I finally gave in- I got up and waited at the counter to pay. When she rang me up, she said "I'm sorry I was really busy". By really busy, she meant 2 of the EPD, and a large table who seemed to get all the attention because, you know.. bigger the table, bigger the tip. I paid, and left. Tonight, I tried it again.. I was greeted, but felt rushed in ordering. The server walked up multiple times while I was still actively reading the menu to myself, and my 3 kids, and asked if I was ready to order. It's been quite some time since I've been a server but I'm pretty sure the visual cues are required- when the menu is put down, is when we are ready to order. Whatever, put in the order. We got our food, finished eating, no server. What do you know... a large party came in. Finally the server came and asked "can I get you anything else?" I said no thank you. One of my kids was still eating, but the rest of us had empty plates. She didn't take any plates, and didn't bring the tab. She didn't come back for another 20ish mins.. this time with the tab. Which is not nearly as bad as the hour prior. My supposed to be quick dinner because it's been a long week took about an hour and a half... and we had our plates within 15 mins of sitting. It's now almost midnight, and I've been on a rotation of dealing with "3 sick kids". I'm not sure if I will get sick as well but I think it's a bit of a coincidence that all 3 get sick the same night especially when all of them were fine before. 2 chances is enough, and now I won't be sleeping which is exactly what I want to be doing after working all week long. read more

Just had lunch here. What a total ripoff! I was charged $14.35 for a two item lunch special and ice tea that started out at $6.95. I was totally ignored my entire time there and I was the only person in the restaurant. I just about had to pick my jaw off the floor after I was handed the bill and saw the price. Next time warn a person when your going to screw them. No wonder the restaurant was empty. I was so ignored I totally could walked out the door without paying, but I'm an honest person unlike these guys. My FAVORITE place to get a regular burrito. The best part? They're consistent!! Every single time I eat there, the burrito is the same!! Always juicy carne asada, and a lot of it! Always the perfect ratio of beans and rice, the salsa is amazing as well! The girls are always friendly, and I've never waited longer than 5 minutes for my order. If you like canned chicken meat in your chicken tacos you will love it here. So canned it resembles cat food. The corn tortillas were soaked like sponges, my wife ended up leaving it all on her plate. My son got a shrimp burrito, this looked like a concoction of watery sour cream mixed with salsa with 2-3 shrimp in half the burrito he ate before giving up. I got a carnitas super burrito, meat was cooked ok, flavor was not bad. Ratio of meat to beans, rice etc was good too. Only downside was the ginormous pork bone that nearly cracked a tooth. At least the beer was cold, last time there no doubt. With the amazing Pizza Plus in the same parking lot I guess we had higher hopes. So now bad experiences at both Escalon and Valley Springs Mi Tierras. Stick to the Burrito Tropical, this was the only thing that kept me coming back. read more

*** WATCH OUT FOR EXTRA CHARGES/ RUDE SERVICE **** I've eaten here a couple of times with family. Their food is okay and if you dine inside, the service is pretty minimal. This last/final time, the service was terrible and the server was rude. Even though she messed up on our order, I felt compelled to leave a tip because we ate inside. It wasn't a huge deal because we knew we wouldn't be back. The same lady that served us processed my payment at the register. I paid by card, and I included the tip in the amount total on the merchant receipt. I also wrote the same amount total on my receipt for my records. When I checked my bank statement, I noticed that they (Mi Tierra Taqueria) had added an extra dollar to their total amount charged. This was not a transaction fee. This appears to be something extra they helped themselves to. I realize it's only one dollar, but it really is my decision whether or not I tip them and how much. read more

So we have been coming to this place for years. The last 1 year it really has changed. We were constantly getting overcharged and I kept a running total of my to go orders and when it came out to at least $10 more each time, I would question it and the lady would just say she made a mistake. But it happened weekly. We came back every week knowing that fact. But then last week,I called in my order and heard the dumbest thing come from the order takers mouth.
