My go to lunch items ate nachos and burritos If I'm eating in then I may order a Chile rellano a la carte. Staff are very friendly. I remember one day I called ahead but when I got there I had forgot my wallet, I switched purses the day before. There has been a Mexican restaurant at this location ever since I've been going to Modesto in 2008. This is my first time back since 2019 - is it the same place? I don't know, but it's definitely similar. Two things that were different - I used to love the chips here. This time they were really stale. We had a late lunch, around 2:30, but that doesn't explain it unless they just left them out from the morning. We've bought freshly fried tortilla chips before and they were still tasty after a few days if they were stored correctly. Not a big deal - but they used to have Jarritos and now they sell Mundet. I had an apple soda - still delicious. Food - One fellow Yelper said they loved the molcajete and described it in a way that my mouth had started watering already. Unfortunately, the waitress informed me that there is no molcajete at this location. The backup plan was the carnitas plate. Carnitas were great - nice and crispy on the outside, moist and flavorful on the inside. The corn tortillas are made fresh and that really helps make the dish. I'd recommend getting this and some guacamole on the side. The plate comes with a little, but made me crave for some more. read more

Unbelievable went on a Sunday morning. They only open from 9 to 2. I just wanted refried beans and they told me it would be a half hour or more and this is at 11 o'clock so I know they weren't busy. I order food from here all the time. Love the homemade tortillas. My favorite is el molcajete. The sauce is so good. Not a fan of the menudo. Many margarita is good. My only complaint is that they don't always get my to go order right. read more

I've been going to this place for years. Never had any issues. Today I placed an order for pickup & I specifically asked for chipotle sauce for my shrimp & green sauce (I've paid extra for both before which I don't mind) so my daughter picked up our order & they let her know they had "ran out" of chipotle sauce, so I called them & Fernanda the waitress informed me that she told my daughter that but in reality they don't sell chipotle sauce there!! I told her I've ordered the same dish with the same sauce many other times & she was rude & didn't care! Sad to say I won't be going back again! Their employees should study the menu better!!!!! So disappointed with their customer service, I had to eat some bland ass camarones empanizados! SMH read more

Used to be our go to place when i used to live in modesto. The best thing this place has not changed still good quality mexican food at a great price. My favorite has allways been the beef milenesa. Its allways tender and they have the best green sauce. What out the salsa here will creep up and bite you in the ass but its great. read more

This restaurant is close to home so when we're in the mood for some Mexican food that isn't far we go here. We usually get food to go and they always get the order right. When we ate at the restaurant the service was good. The chicken tacos here are amazing! So much flavor! The rice on the other hand has no flavor at all which is why this spot is not my favorite. Decent atmosphere and food but service and plate presentation changes order same burrito each time and at times get full plate with veggies rice beans all you'd expect but then i get it just wrapped in foil on a plate, or a fries basket. We eat with our eyes first!!!!!! And shows you care or dont!!!! Good service! I also like the atmosphere in this restaurant, the decor is on point it doesn't make the place look strange, unlike some other taquerias around the area. I did try the carne asada tacos,and they were pretty good, although I wish they weren't so tiny! I don't feel like it was worth the price for a two taco plate with such small tacos! I would have tried the Chile relleno but they were out of it, also it would have been nice if their soda machine was working too. Next time hopefully they will have a full menu read more

Their fajitas are the BEST in the area. I came in with my family and friends on a Sunday morning. We were seated and given chips and salsa right away (complimentary). I came here to try the menudo which was good I had it a couple of times and it was good I tried the sopes it wasn't fresh made don't Recomended they are nasty when not fresh made me the corn tortillas I don't know where they get them they are ok but not good. Anyway last time I went for menudo I took my hole family and relatives that had came to visit and the menudo was horrible I tried it a couple of times wanting to like it but it tasted like they made it with sewer water most of us had gone there because of the Menudo. I told the server girl about it but I still had to pay 5 full plates of Menudo that no one ate. I told her a second time about it because I thought maybe she didn't understand but she had got it the first time. I just don't think it's fair to pay for food that you can't eat. There is only one good waitress that works there. She has dark brown curly hair. Every time I go there and get the other ladies they mess up on my order. I specifically say, rice, while beans, grilled veggies, and 5 times out of 10 they get it right. Today I went there and sent my plate back because they got it wrong, and I can literally see and hear the 3 women working saying that they gave me what I ordered. It is embarrassing to have to send food back, and it ruins the experience. As a server, it is important to take care of your customers, otherwise you will eventually go out of business!
