Buckle up dear reader, we're going on a ride. The destination is my wholehearted belief that Dr. Mia DiJulio is a brilliant physician and a caring, compassionate caregiver, and that I canNOT recommend her enough. So for the tl;dr crew, you can stop here. For more details...I'm in the rare position of writing a review of my amazing OB-GYN without having a baby to show for it. I've never been pregnant, it's the opposite: I've struggled for years with my busted babymaker. I've BEGGED previous doctors to get it out of me. I watched as my mother nearly bled to death in an ER before having hers removed in a frantic emergency operation. For years I saw various specialists, sitting in office after office surrounded by pregnant bellies and collages on the wall of all the beautiful babies the doctors in those offices had delivered. Societal patriarchy plus the necessary overabundance of caution from medical professionals on irreversible procedures meant trying all sorts of things and having my experience of menstrual bleeding most (!) days either minimized or outright dismissed. Again, patriarchy. Generally speaking, women's reproductive health is not treated in a way that expresses anything but contempt for women, and specifically speaking there are, unfortunately, female practitioners who uphold archaic parameters as enthusiastically as certain male ones. "You'll change your mind"/"Having a baby one day will be worth it" etc. So, we've got sexism and medical patriarchy. Next stop? Racism! I am a Black woman and racial bias in medical education and training is a hideous byproduct of overall systemic racism that many people are working to address and undo. It is a fact that Black women have disproportionately higher maternal death rates than our counterparts. So, while ideally any doctor has an awareness of these things, the stakes are profoundly higher as an OB-GYN. And yes, this all matters. Because Dr. DiJulio (who to my knowledge has no African ancestry), has made me feel seen, heard, and cared for from minute one. I sit here now with no uterus anymore, nearly 2 months after she performed a laparoscopic hysterectomy. A hysterectomy is major surgery to begin with (trust me, I've done my research!) and doing it laparoscopically is even more complicated. Massive kudos to Dr. DiJulo's colleague Dr. Klara Vogel, the first doctor I saw at the WONDERFUL Providence St. John's Physician Partners Santa Monica Women's Health office, who referred me to Dr. DiJulio right away because of her expertise with this specific type of surgery. Of course the aim was for a laparoscopic procedure, but I know that with the size of my fibroids, there's still a chance I'd wake up to find they'd had to "open me up" with a large incision. Nope! I have 2 tiny incisions and a painless empty space where my cursed reproductive organs used to be. For the record, I've always wanted to have a family and I still pray that God may bless me with a child to love, however that child enters this world. And I'm aware that part of me finally having the surgery is that my chronological age has caught up with childbearing prime years. It means so much to me that Dr. DiJulio has always held space for the complicated state of feeling like I'm the only person at the OB-GYN who'll never leave there with a baby. But that's the thing - I may have felt that way but the reality is there are more of us than we could ever know, because the many complications of our reproductive systems are not talked about as freely as the miracle of childbirth. There are so many things chalked up to "female trouble" that are serious medical conditions for which there actually is treatment and relief, in the right hands. Those hands belong to Dr. Mia DiJulio, the Beyonce of OB-GYNs. She didn't deliver my baby, she delivered me from suffering. And I am eternally grateful. read more

Mia is one of the most attentive, caring doctors working today. A true professional when it comes to women's health. She was easy to schedule with and the clinic is wonderful, convenient, clean and great parking. Mia is incredible with women's health care, whether it's getting an IUD inserted or removed, handling any sort of UTI, STD, they give you the fastest solution to fixing problems and taking care of your health, overall well-being and recommendations to other health care professionals in other fields you are searching for! I could not advocate enough for a health professional that makes sure her clients are taken care of in every aspect when it comes to health concerns. 10/10. read more

I love dr Di Julio, and I have been a patient for several years. But the staff in the office is absolutely obnoxious to say the least! Every time I call to schedule an appointment or follow up they are rude, it's like they go out of their way to be unaccommodating and unhelpful! There is absolutely no consequences for them as there is no way to report it to SJ or to leave a review for them, it's like they know they can't get fired and they don't give a f*ck! Unfortunately I'll have to find another dr just because I don't want to be continuously bullied every time I call her office! read more

Dr Di Julio delivered both of my babies (2020 and 2022). She is an incredible OB with a nurturing bedside manner, master class knowledge, and a compassionate style. She has taken great care of my health over the years and I trust her completely. She is so present and engaging at every appointment. Dr Di Julio makes her patients feel so comfortable and safe in her hands. I can't recommended her enough and have to many other friends/moms who also no rave about her care. An additional plus is that the staff at her office is fabulous and efficient, you rarely wait and they are kind and professional. Every women deserves a Dr DuJulio in their life! read more

I had an amazing experience with Dr Di Julio as my OB. She was very understanding and helpful and never forced me to do anything I didn't want to do, she was present every step of the way and went above and beyond to make sure my entire experience leading up to birth and even after birth were amazing. I had a slightly complicated birthing process because my water was broken for 2 days and contractions never started naturally and she was determined to safely stay with my birthing plan of having a vaginal birth with no epidural and we made it happen! I had a bad experience with the OBGYN I had with my first child, but Dr Di Julio gave me the experience I feel like every mother should have. Thank you so much!! read more

I had the most amazing experience with Dr Di Julio! As a new patient, my experience was more than excellent. Scheduling an appointment was a breeze - I felt very reassured the moment the receptionist answered the phone - the woman on the other line was friendly and enthusiastic yet respectful. She was very patient when I explained how I had trouble finding a place that took my insurance. Luckily, it worked out here which put me at ease. I was very nervous as I hadn't had a pap in several years. When I told Dr. Di Julio this, she was compassionate and understanding. Her bedside manner was so calming. She was patient and gentle with my exam. I barely felt a thing! At the end she noted that my IUD strings looked a bit long, so she did a quick ultrasound to make sure it was in the right place. Don't want any unexpected accidents! She seemed really knowledgeable and well-appraised with all the latest practiced guidelines. It is truly such a pleasure to be cared for by someone who is very smart and professional yet is so relatable and patient friendly! I was beyond pleased with my experience! read more

I never been here but I am glad I canceled this place appointment for Tuesday 29 2019 this receptionist is very rude and disrespectful towards any patient she doesn't even wait until other person finish talking and just hang upon u why would u wanna hire someone who doesn't care about other people? Hey u receptionist don't work there if u don't want to be there!!!! I have never seen u but u shouldn't just hang up people like that!!!! Dr. Di Julio was my obgyn during my pregnancy and delivered my baby and I couldn't have had a better experience! She really took my concerns into consideration and was able to diffuse some of my neurotic worries I had as a ftm by providing support and data. She is a great listener, optimistic, and is very open to questions. She closely monitored me towards the end of my pregnancy due to gd and referred me out to another very good doctor for scans and nutrition. She was okay with my birth plan and accommodated it as much as she could within St. John's policies. The delivery went smoothly even though my bb came a bit early (on her day off actually) but she was able to come in for my delivery with the help of another great doctor. My scar looks great, it looks like a natural fold of my skin and healed very quickly. I think she used glue stitches? I didn't need anything more than ibuprofen for 1.5 weeks. I will definitely stay with Dr. Di Julio as long as I am in SoCal! She's amazing and reminds me of a Grey's Anatomy character! So brilliant and outstanding, thank you, Doctor! read more

Dr. Di Julio has expertly delivered both my babies! Not only does she have incredible bed side manner but she takes the time to listen to your concerns and questions. She's patient and understanding, which is so appreciated when you are in the throes of pregnancy! Anyone would be lucky to have Dr. Di Julio as their gynecologist! read more

Unfortunately, I won't recommend it. I'm literally 20 weeks pregnant and have to search for a new OBGYN. After my 13 weeks ultrasound, they found that my baby has an NT and sent me for an urgent ultrasound to check if my baby has an abnormal chromosome. I had to do the CVS test which luckily turn out normal. Basically, I haven't heard from Mia since I did the test! She didn't even call back with the result! Rather than to say I have been sick with a virus NOT COVID, for 3 weeks and I was calling the office daily to be seen by a doctor but they refused and told me to go to urgent care! I basically got abandoned by my OBGYN! LOL Also during the labor of my first child, I had complications and the baby got stuck in my cervix. Mia showed up after 6 hrs! The nurse at the hospital couldn't explain well how to push and only when Mia arrived 6 hrs later I was already tired from pushing and I had to do vacuum labor, long story short - TRAUMA! read more

Dr. Di Julio is the kindest, most patient and empathetic doctor I have ever come across. I have come across many obstetricians and it seems to be rare to find someone who takes the time to truly care for patients as individuals. Dr. Di Julio treats her patients as though they are family members and that type of bedside manner makes all the difference in the world. I started seeing Dr Di Julio in my second trimester and I wish I found her sooner for my ob gyn care pre-pregnancy! Dr Di Julio is so welcoming and kind, and I left every appointment wanting to hug her. The day of my birth, I saw dr Di Julio serval times while I was In labor and she was there to deliver my son. I had a few scares in my pregnancy and she was so positive and reassuring, she was able to keep me level headed and calm. I 10000% plan on continuing to see dr Di Julio and if baby #2 ever comes around I'll go back to her. The staff at Playa vista is amazing too, the ultrasound tech and Angelica are sooo kind and chatty in the best way. I truly get like I was amongst friends. read more

Dr. Di Julio is the best doctor I have ever been to. I just had my baby under her care and she took the most amazing care of me. I did not have a straight forward easy pregnancy. Multiple factors came into play some being my own high risk pregnancy health issues and the other being a global pandemic. Dr. Di Julio made me feel very, very well taken care of. She was so easy to reach and communicate with. She was incredibly thorough. Very thoughtful and understanding about all the stresses I had. I never felt rushed by her. She gave me 100% every time I saw her. I highly recommend her as an Ob/Gyn. Also she was gentle with me during procedures, which with vaginal exams is a big plus. She has a very warm personality in general. I cannot say enough wonderful things about her. I've had other ob gyns in the past that have disappointed in some way or another and she is definitely not one of them. She really seems to want to make her patients happy and comfortable. read more

We sat in her office first to discuss the visit and she completely put me at ease with her positive, calming nature. I would definitely recommend her! read more
