Buckle up dear reader, we're going on a ride. The destination is my wholehearted belief that Dr…read more Mia DiJulio is a brilliant physician and a caring, compassionate caregiver, and that I canNOT recommend her enough. So for the tl;dr crew, you can stop here. For more details...I'm in the rare position of writing a review of my amazing OB-GYN without having a baby to show for it. I've never been pregnant, it's the opposite: I've struggled for years with my busted babymaker. I've BEGGED previous doctors to get it out of me. I watched as my mother nearly bled to death in an ER before having hers removed in a frantic emergency operation. For years I saw various specialists, sitting in office after office surrounded by pregnant bellies and collages on the wall of all the beautiful babies the doctors in those offices had delivered. Societal patriarchy plus the necessary overabundance of caution from medical professionals on irreversible procedures meant trying all sorts of things and having my experience of menstrual bleeding most (!) days either minimized or outright dismissed. Again, patriarchy. Generally speaking, women's reproductive health is not treated in a way that expresses anything but contempt for women, and specifically speaking there are, unfortunately, female practitioners who uphold archaic parameters as enthusiastically as certain male ones. "You'll change your mind"/"Having a baby one day will be worth it" etc. So, we've got sexism and medical patriarchy. Next stop? Racism! I am a Black woman and racial bias in medical education and training is a hideous byproduct of overall systemic racism that many people are working to address and undo. It is a fact that Black women have disproportionately higher maternal death rates than our counterparts. So, while ideally any doctor has an awareness of these things, the stakes are profoundly higher as an OB-GYN. And yes, this all matters. Because Dr. DiJulio (who to my knowledge has no African ancestry), has made me feel seen, heard, and cared for from minute one. I sit here now with no uterus anymore, nearly 2 months after she performed a laparoscopic hysterectomy. A hysterectomy is major surgery to begin with (trust me, I've done my research!) and doing it laparoscopically is even more complicated. Massive kudos to Dr. DiJulo's colleague Dr. Klara Vogel, the first doctor I saw at the WONDERFUL Providence St. John's Physician Partners Santa Monica Women's Health office, who referred me to Dr. DiJulio right away because of her expertise with this specific type of surgery. Of course the aim was for a laparoscopic procedure, but I know that with the size of my fibroids, there's still a chance I'd wake up to find they'd had to "open me up" with a large incision. Nope! I have 2 tiny incisions and a painless empty space where my cursed reproductive organs used to be. For the record, I've always wanted to have a family and I still pray that God may bless me with a child to love, however that child enters this world. And I'm aware that part of me finally having the surgery is that my chronological age has caught up with childbearing prime years. It means so much to me that Dr. DiJulio has always held space for the complicated state of feeling like I'm the only person at the OB-GYN who'll never leave there with a baby. But that's the thing - I may have felt that way but the reality is there are more of us than we could ever know, because the many complications of our reproductive systems are not talked about as freely as the miracle of childbirth. There are so many things chalked up to "female trouble" that are serious medical conditions for which there actually is treatment and relief, in the right hands. Those hands belong to Dr. Mia DiJulio, the Beyonce of OB-GYNs. She didn't deliver my baby, she delivered me from suffering. And I am eternally grateful.

Dr. Amersi has a very busy practice and many patients, yet somehow, every single time I see her, she makes me feel like I have her full attention. She is present, calm, thorough, and never makes me feel rushed. Her bedside manner is exceptional, and I genuinely feel that she cares about my health and well-being. What I appreciate most is her commitment to preventative care. Before simply putting me on hormones, she wanted to understand the complete picture of my health. She ordered genetic testing to evaluate hereditary cancer risks, performed my Pap smear and an ultrasound, and ordered comprehensive bloodwork to evaluate my hormone levels. When my ultrasound showed that my uterine lining was a little thick, she monitored it carefully by prescribing me progesterone rather than overlooking it. Once all of my results were available, she created an HRT and wellness plan specifically for my body and my needs, which included progesterone and testosterone along with targeted medical grade supplements. I have felt so much more balanced since beginning my regimen. I recently returned for my follow-up ultrasound, and my uterine lining is now within the normal range. We are continuing to monitor my bloodwork, and she has also recommended a bone density scan so we can be proactive about my bone health as I move through this stage of life. That is what I love about her--she isn't just treating symptoms; she is looking at my overall health and thinking about prevention and longevity. She is also incredibly responsive to my emails and questions, which means so much when you are navigating hormones and changes in your body. I trust Dr. Amersi completely. She has such a calm, reassuring presence, and I feel genuinely cared for every time I walk into her office. Finding a physician who combines this level of knowledge, thoroughness, preventative care, responsiveness, and compassion is rare. I am so grateful I found her. She has made such a positive difference in how I feel, and I absolutely love having her as my doctor.

They had asked me on my first visit. I was excited to find a physician specializing in perimenopause and HRT, and am ALWAYS about women empowerment, but my experience was horrible from start to finish. From spelling my name incorrectly and entering my phone number incorrectly, which led to me not received the call from the pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions and follow-up care. Rather than acknowledging those errors, I was blamed and scolded by the doctor for problems that resulted from inaccurate information in my chart and her front office staff scheduling me for an appt on the wrong date. The doctor misdiagnosed me, started me on a medication that I did not need and I was told by two other doctors to discontinue. Amersi kept referring to it as PCOS when discussing it and even in results and emails, but rudely corrected me every time, that it was no longer called that, it's PMOS-weird! And anyway, I'm perimenopausal, which is why I was there, why she brought up PMOS-beyond me. You can't get a word in edge wise, because she is so rude she talks over you and scolds you, while you're undressed from the waist down. I literally stood up covered by the drape and told her this wasn't going to work and she talked me in to staying for the exam, then shoved the transvaginal US wand in, painful, said two words, if that, then walked out of the room. I had to ask one of the girls from the front who tried kicking me out of the room to call the doctor back. I still had questions. Labs were normal, after being told by this office that they were not. A JOKE OR A NIGHTMARE, I'm not sure which one, from start to finish, from the front office staff to the doctor's DISGUSTING, bedside manner. There was nothing concierge about this experience. Pay the extra $500 ($1500), yes $500 more than what Amersi's office rips you off for, and see the other specialist in the area, message me if you would like more details.

On Dr Nguyen's website, it says he is accepting new patients. But despite our attempts over 2 weeks to schedule a checkup, it seems like the office is not interested in scheduling a check up for new patients. This is understandable, but please just make it obvious that you are not accepting new patients. Also, when we contacted UCLA Health, they were uncertain of exactly where Dr Nguyen's office is. They suggested to my partner to go to the office to enquire of the staff. When he finally arrived at the office, he was shooed away. The whole process felt unprofessional, like we were vying for a coveted appointment with a Kardashian cosmetic surgeon, not a practical appointment with an OB.

I feel incredibly lucky that she was my OB/GYN throughout my entire pregnancy. From the very beginning, I always felt that I was in the best possible hands. My baby decided to arrive earlier than expected, and unfortunately Dr. Kiseleva was not able to be physically present for my delivery. I turned to her to continue my pregnancy after moving from another city. We immediately found a common language, she is a very pleasant and tactful person in communication. It's very easy to work with Dina, she listens carefully, delves into problems and questions, prescribes treatment, gives recommendations if necessary. I visited her office almost every week, it's cozy, nice staff who help if you have any questions. We decided to stimulate childbirth, as it was necessary according to the indications. We agreed with Dr. Dina on the date when I need to be in the hospital. I arrived at the hospital late at night, and early in the morning Dina came to my ward to ask about my well-being, to once again tell the plan of our actions. During the day she came to me, set me up in a good way, calmed me down so that I wouldn't worry. It was very pleasant, I was really calm, despite the pain I began to feel from the started contractions. Late in the evening I started giving birth, Dina arrived at the birth quickly, very calmly told me how to behave, what to do. Everything went very, very well! I am very happy that I turned to Dr. Dina, thanks to her, 5 days ago I became a mother of a wonderful baby, and now she sleeps sweetly next to me I want to express my great gratitude to the wonderful doctor Dina, you are a wonderful doctor and a very good person.
