Great office staff! I've been a patient of Dr. Klevens for probably 10 years plus now and have nothing but positive things to say. Dr. Klevens is a very compassionate and knowledgeable doctor and the staff is accommodating and kind. Dr. Klevens (rhymes with Kevins) brought me swift relief from an extremely difficult situation. I called Dr. Klevens' office knowing that I was having a miscarriage at seven weeks, and needing an in-network D&C. It was extremely sad for me to lose this pregnancy. We'd been trying for two years with a fertility clinic. On top of that, I was weak and tired from two weeks of brutal morning sickness. I was a new patient just calling Dr. Klevens based on reviews, and my experience was five stars. FAST AND COORDINATED. I called on a Tuesday. Though extremely busy, her adept and communicative staff fit me in to see Dr. Klevens NEXT DAY. At my Wednesday appointment, Dr. Klevens was able to schedule me for a 7am D&C on Friday. Within 36 hours, I had a COVID test, surgery, and was back on my feet feeling well again. COLLABORATIVE. Dr. Klevens used my medical records from my fertility clinic so we didn't need to repeat tests. She was the first doctor to ask about diagnostic testing on my previous miscarriages, however far back. PREVENTATIVE. Dr. Klevens immediately began putting together the bigger puzzle of my situation. She took notes on my prior miscarriages, requested any available test records on them, and ran diagnostic testing on my current miscarriage. HIGH QUALITY IMAGING. The ultrasound images taken here were the most clear I've seen. GREAT HOSPITAL. The surgery at St. John's was a breeze. I felt like I was at the Four Season's (not the landscaping co;) Everyone was so informative. There was a refreshing sense of humor about the place. People really went the extra mile to communicate and do things right. EFFECTIVE. My surgery with Dr. Klevens was smooth and on schedule. When I woke up, I immediately felt better than I had in weeks. The side effects of the surgery were trivial: mild indigestion from the anesthesia and minimal bleeding. Post-op, I was able to go home and work a full work day on my computer for the first time in weeks! I ate full meals without puking! I exercised! My body returned from surgery so much better than when it went in. No longer worried about survival, I was able to take the entire weekend to grieve our loss with my partner in peace. That's the difference that getting me in on Friday meant. We got time to heal. From the bottom of my heart, thank you to Dr. Klevens and every doctor and nurse and staff at the office and St. John's who helped me. LADIES, BEWARE!! Dr. Klevens saw my wife to investigate why she she had suddenly started bleeding so much during her periods. Dr. Klevens never ordered the requisite blood work to test for thyroid issues, anemia or any other possible factors. Instead, and without first checking where she was in her cycle, Dr. Klevens ordered an expensive ultrasound. After performing the ultrasound and realizing it wasn't the best time during her cycle to see anything in the images, she ordered a more expensive "hydro" or water ultrasound. Still no blood work was ordered. Ever. After seeing the images of the hydro, she immediately diagnosed my wife with polyps and told her to schedule a surgery! We took the images to a more experienced OBGYN who nearly spat her coffee out upon seeing the images. "THERE ARE NO SIGN OF POLYPS HERE" she said. "Your wife *must* first get a full blood panel done...there is absolutely NO NEED for surgery." I consider this race to surgery *medical malpractice* and we will be contacting our health insurance to contest every single ultrasound they are trying to stick us with. I think a complaint at the BBB is also in order. read more

After several struggling months, doctor visits, ultrasounds, and no straight answer to my issues. I when to see Dr. Sarah Klevens she put stop to the problem, by finding and removing a Uterine polyp. My mother is an ovarian and colon cancer survival so for me health screening and accounting with the best doctors it's very important. Dr Klevens was my doctor for delivering my second baby. She is very knowledgeable and understanding. She was very patient with me when I could not get pregnant for some time and when it finally happened she was right there to help me and guide me along if needed. She is honest and helpful. I would highly recommend her to someone who wants an honest doctor that would describe the situation in reality vs sugar coating. The office staff at this practice is hostile, rude, and unprofessional. I have called several times to get an appointment with my doctor and they have 30-60 minute waits for someone to pick up on the appointment line. Twice, I opted in for the option to hang up and have someone call me back when it's my turn in the queue and I NEVER received a call back. I called today first thing in the morning, waited 40 minutes for an answer only to be chastised by Karen and told she can't make an appointment for me (even out of pocket) because of unnamed policies. This same staff member has been rude to me before - stating she knows all the policies because she's worked there 13 years. She told me she would transfer me to my doctors line so I can leave a message directly and she then HUNG UP ON ME. I will never understand people who work in healthcare being so unfeeling and cruel. I have been coming to this office for approx the past 4years. My OBGYN visits are pretty simple, just annual cancer screenings and lab tests. My ratings for Dr Klevens and her assistant Monica is 5 stars. My negative critique is directed towards SOME of the office staff and especially the phlebotomist Denora, who works in the lab. I do understand that office staff is there to work and they are generally pretty busy. What I don't understand is why some of them have to treat you like a bothersome fly, unnerved you asked a question. I don't expect the staff to be overly friendly, but I would expect them to be professionally polite and speak courteously to their patients. As for the phlebotomist, talk about poor bedside manners! In all my visits she is never really "cheery", but this last time she was just plain rude. I work in healthcare myself and place injections on people as part of my care, if I was to speak to my patients in the way I was spoken to by her, I would never see them again. I wish there was an option to give this team a million stars! I don't even know where to begin to thank them, from the front desk to the doctors. Due to new insurance a few years ago, I had to switch doctors and it has been a great experience all around so far. The front desk people are always so pleasant, get back to you quickly and help you with any insurance concerns (multiple times, because I have a need to confirm prior info!). Now to the shining star of the office, Dr. Sara Klevens!!! I am so grateful that I finally found the most wonderful, patient, caring, professional and sweetest OBGYN!  Dr. Klevens is so super caring and takes the time to really listen and answer all your concerns and questions.  She is very thorough and really takes her time examining you and going over your chart. I had to go see her for an emergency (and very embarrassing) incident and she was so kind and non-judgemental and put me right at ease. Everyone knows that Superman saves lives. But when Superman turns into Superwoman and saves the lives of 2 people simultaneously, you get Dr. Klevens. Dr. Klevens literally saved my life and my baby's life. After a horrible experience with Dr. Soha Elgharib (also known as Dr. Soha Salem) in the Manhattan Beach Women's Clinic, I was left stranded without an Obgyn in my 5th month of pregnancy. Dr. Klevens heard my story and was the only highly-ranked Obgyn that was willing to take me so last minute. Her assistant Monica was very polite and helpful as well. I saw Dr. Klevens for the first time on Tuesday, June 3rd. Being 23 weeks and 6 days pregnant, she was concerned about my increased blood pressure, my migraine-ish headaches and the decreased amount of amniotic fluid surrounding my baby. She ran some tests that night and by the next morning, I was at the perinatologist for an emergency visit. Just hours after, I was admitted to the hospital with severe Preeclampsia. I was dangerously close to seizures/coma and I didn't even realize it. Dr. Klevens and all the wonderful nurses tried to keep the baby in me for as long as possible but because he was just so tiny and because my BP was still sky-rocketing, it didn't work too well. Accordingly, my body was starting to shut down, so Dr. Klevens delivered my baby via C-section on Sunday, June 8th at 24 weeks and 4 days pregnant. My baby boy weighed 1 lb. and 1 oz. at birth. Nobody, with the exception of my family and I, thought he would survive. But he is strong and feisty and while he will be in the NICU for the next few months, he is stable and doing wonderfully and I am fully healed with a scar you can barely see. Dr. Klevens truly did save my life and if not for her, my son wouldn't be here today. She is everything that you read: kind, caring, patient, and goes out of her way to make sure you understand. I loved having Dr. Klevens as our OB during my two year stretch of pregnancy! (I have kids 14 mo apart). In fact, during that time, we moved an hour away from santa monica after our first child and I couldn't imagine going to another doctor so i braved the frequent commutes and risked having a stressful labor (being so far away from St. John's!) I am so glad I did - I looked forward to my appointments and she always told me everything straight up - no beating around the bush. my husband also asked a ton of questions and she was patient (and funny!) through the whole process. Beyond that, i liked all the staff in the office - they knew me by name and were super friendly (and didn't curse me when I threw up during my first trimester all over their office floor...). I was also surprised (and maybe lucky!) that I never had to wait a long time despite her being an OB. All my appointments started on time (with one exception in two years!). Have you ever loved your new OBGYN so much you call your mom after your annual to RAVE about 'the best pap you've ever had'?? Well, I have. During High School/college I have a OBGYN I loved (and gave me a bc that I loved), but since then have not been able to find the right fit. I had three different (male) OBGYN's refuse to give me the birth control I requested - and experiment with new things. Those new things destroyed my skin, made me extremely depressed and anxious and resulted in an almost 2 year hiatus from birthcontrol - Read: I gave up. I went in to see Dr. Klevens for my annual, and we discussed birth control. I shyly told her the birth control I wanted (that I'd taken all through high school & college but been denied since) - expecting her to say no as well. She said 'you know your body, of course if this works for you it is the right birth control' and gave me a script. I almost cried I was so relieved. Having a doctor who BELIEVES you with regard to your own body is everything. Also, usually I find paps uncomfortable/painful - and I didn't even notice until Dr K told me we were done. Whaaaattt! The doctor was not knowledge about gynecological pain and was dismissive of my concerns. No one should be made to feel that their pain doesn't matter or it is in their heads. In addition to not offering a diagnosis or treatment, she gave an inappropriate referral. Her office staff are similarly rude and when I complained that the doctor did not diagnose the problem, they asked what I meant by 'diagnose". I have waited a bit of time to write this review as I was looking for another OBGYN to give me a different opinion and different care. I will say, this office is decent for people that don't need much care and need a simple standard approach. It is VERY robotic - you wait a while and then the doctor sees you for maximum 5/10 minutes. You get prescribed medication very quickly and in my opinion, with no regard of you medical history. I have been medicated a lot for issues here and recently was given an antibiotic for BV that made things worse - my primary doctor is one of the best in LA and now keeps track of what other doctors give me - he looked at the med that Klevens prescribed me and said it was the worst for someone with UTI history (which I had). Conclusion, I ended up with UTI pain and went to see Klevens to let her know. She said those were not common side effects and my urine sample was clear but she still did a culture...A few days later, her amazing assistant (Monica is great) called me to let me know I had a UTI (again, I was right when Klevens told me I was wrong) and gave me antibiotics. This happened another time before, when she said I had BV and not a UTI and I trusted her so took Metro for two days to then have to go to the ER with a UTI and then was told i had a kidney infection. I have been on so many meds from this place and if there was more care and actual listening to patients, it wouldn't have happened. I finally found two excellent doctors who are SHOCKED at my medical records with this doctor's office and are now reversing everything. In other words, if you are sensitive to medication or want very holistic and deepened care, don't come here. It is the epitome of an American doctor's office where everything is automatic, and the doctors don't really care about you but just want to get their job done. I am frustrated at this office and do not have positive things to say about the doctors but do think the admin staff and nurses are incredible. read more

I can not say enough good things about Dr. Klevens. I've been going to see her for years and she has always been honest with me while still maintaining a warm and positive relationship. In the last year I've come her with several complex problems and she always makes time to see me that day. I may even go so far as to say she potentially saved my life with a last minute urgent surgery yesterday. She has never downplayed my pain or symptoms and approaches every problem with concern, care, and most importantly, action when necessary. Since our first meeting, she was kind and made us feel like she had all the time in the world to talk with us. Since I'm sure that's how she was with all patients, I'm surprised we never had to wait more than 10 minutes to see her. Dr. K was always willing to explain anything, more than helpful with concerns and since she was in the same boat (pregnant), she also was a little more sympathetic than other doctors I had seen. As my pregnancy progressed, we began to count down to her maternity leave with a heavy heart. Since there were at least 6 other doctors in the practice, we knew we'd be covered one way or the other, but after six months with her, they got me pretty attached to her and her nurse. She promised to be back before I had our baby, but- if she wasn't back in the office, she'd still be delivering from home during her leave. How fabulous is that? I think there is nothing worse than putting your care into someone's hands only to be passed onto someone else. It's funny how you don't notice how much you like someone until that person is replaced. Anyway, the new doc was cold, fast and sometimes painful. I longed for my old doc. Finally, as I got closer to my due date, I prayed for Piper to stay in there until Dr. Klevens was back. Being a good baby, she did. Dr. Klevens was surprised to see me still there, albeit with my gigantic basketball belly, and we traded niceties and the usual, "I'm good, how are you?" Then we got down to business, I had two appointments with Dr. Klevens before Piper was born, and each one was assumed to be the last. When it came to the 39 week appointment Dr. K scheduled my induction for that following Monday- four days later. She then told us to get our labor started early, and that she was on-call that weekend. As it turned out, Piper was not wanting to come out early OR on her due date. Induction it was. I didn't see Dr. K until 8am the morning after my induction, due to the pitocin getting started the night before. She was kind, and slightly worried about my progression, so gave me time. Many times throughout the day she'd come to check on me, in between patients at the office. Eventually I stopped noticing the time, and just lived by dilation. I had to turn the tv off, as I knew People's Court meant it was 5 o'clock and 19 hours had passed. My doctor was never rushed, never told me to take anything to hurry the baby along. She wanted me to have the birth I wanted. As it was, it was not to be, and Piper was born via c-section. Because of the agony I was in when the pushing had failed, Dr. K went above and beyond and got me rushed into the operating room, which meant asking people to go beyond their shifts to take care of me. She knew it was a (probably stupid) big deal for me to have Piper before the 25th. Not that the date meant anything to me, but just that the idea of being induced on the 23rd, laboring for a full day THEN having a c-section and a baby born on the 25th was insane. When the time came for Piper to be delivered, Dr. Klevens assured me I was doing the best for Piper, and that everything was going to be okay. As they wheeled me into the OR, I was terrified. Luckily, Dr. Klevens was at my back, holding my hand. The surgery was perfect, my incision is "gorgeous" and I can't wait to get pregnant again, anticipating another nine months with Dr. K. read more

Dr. Klevens was a wonderful gyno; until she was not. When I was going to her for my yearly exams and such she was very attentive, not overly paranoid and calming. Something changed around week 37 of my pregnancy when her ego got in the way. When I questioned her regarding how my birthing process would go down, she said, "You know this is not about you. This is about me doing my job." I have it recorded because my husband was in there with me and wanted to record when to know to take me to the hospital. She became very short with me after that including during and after my son was born. I left in tears and even considered shopping around for another doctor. When I actually went into labor, she would not answer her phone for 20+ hours but finally showed up when it was time to scrub in for the emergency c-section (even though Dr. Daly was already there to handle it). The whole time she joked about the BBQ she had just left while I lay crying and shaking on the table in fear of my life and my baby's. When I went to the follow-up postnatal appointment, I asked her if she could tell me why I ended up having to have the emergency c-section and she said, "Remind me of what happened in your birth again?" It was like she had no memory of me and owed me nothing. I believe her ego got the best of her and she wrote me off as a patient she cared about the minute I questioned her. I have talked to two women who had similar experiences; both of them ending up in tears in her office or while in the hospital because of her ego. I found Dr. Klevens through Yelp and boy i really love her! Even though I came for a yeast infection, she took the time to discuss my menstrual history and all the factors that could cause my irregular period. She was friendly and ensured me it should be covered in my insurance. I finally had my first pap smear (and it didn't hurt, contrary to popular belief), a pelvic exam, breast exam, bacterial culture, and ultrasound to make sure nothing's wrong down there. Though they had another doctor to perform ultrasound for me, the entire team was very professional and did not rush me through the whole exam, making sure that i feel comfortable.. I was very happy with Dr. Klevens and highly recommend her! She was even very helpful to help us locate the nearest CVS pharmacy of our choice so that she could directly send the prescription over ASAP in case she couldn't reach me. Overall, I was really impressed with the doctor: very knowledgeable as well! My boyfriend was there the entire time and was happy with the visit as well. I was scared to death and super embarrassed and really didn't want to make an appointment with any OBGYN, so I sat around forever reading yelp reviews trying to find someone who would be nice and make me feel comfortable. I was super impressed that even Sara's bad reviews still said that she had great bedside manner and decided to make my appointment with her. They weren't wrong. She was super efficient, super nice, super gentle, and was happy to answer any and all of my questions. The office was nice, and her assistant Monica, was really nice and helped me feel really comfortable too! Sara brought me into her office first to talk everything through, which helped me feel really assured, and I still got in and out pretty quickly, feeling confident that everything was taken care of. Dr Klevens is a gift. I was searching for a female GYN surgeon after my chemo was over and her practice came up on my search. I picked her out of all the other doctors based on her credentials and insurance coverage and gave the office a call. OK--so the other doctors in the practice were also excellent but I was also relying on my gut feeling and something told me to start with her - I am very happy that I did. The call in was easy and I was directed to Dr Klevens herself who agreed to see me to discuss the surgery and my circumstances. I had a great meeting with her in her office where we talked about everything. Then when it came time for scheduling, her assistant always seemed to call me before I even had a chance to wondering what the progress was. All of my concerns were always address promptly and thoroughly. She was also in communication with my other doctors and not once did I ever have to make sure things were handled. The office seems to run so smoothly and complicated situations became very simplified for me. As for Dr Klevens herself, she is a very kind and gentle person who treated me like gold. She did not dictate treatment or options but rather worked with me to come up with solutions as a team. She is a listener. She is a healer. Her assistant is also a gem. I used to see Dr. Bo Thordarson in the same office. I had to switch when Dr. Bo stopped taking insurance. Dr. Klevens is great! Dr. Bo was great, too, but because she was such a busy doctor, she rushed in and rushed out. Which is good if you want your pap smear done and over with. Anyway, Dr. Klevens is also very fast, but very thorough. She explains EVERY SINGLE STEP of the exam. She'll even tell you the door is about to open because the nurse is delivering something (tools? I couldn't see) so don't be alarmed. It's very considerate. Although it makes sense that she would have to tell me. My bare crotch was facing the door, after all. I never had a problem with appointment times or anything. For my last exam I was out of there in 30 minutes, which helped cut down my parking fee. By the way, I really like the pretty African-American nurse with the short hair. She is the nicest nurse I have ever met! read more

I knew I was in the right hands with Dr. Klevens with my first pregnancy. Her trust and knowledge really set me at ease. After having 4 miscarriages, and finally getting pregnant successfully through IVF. It's hard to trust someone after going to an infertility doctor for as long as I did, then having to move onto to an OB GYN. But moving on meant things were rolling along and this was good. After 20 weeks of pregnancy I was diagnosed with placenta previa. There was always a chance it would move but we knew the chances we slim. So I had to see her more then a normal pregnant person because of bleeds. She always made me feel secure that all would be okay. Even from the beginning, when I lived in fear of having another miscarriage. She made me feel secure enough to embrace my pregnancy. Even her nurse Monica was great. I always felt like I could ask her things as well. I drive all the way from Pasadena to see her, and would drive even farther if I had too. Knowing you are in the right hands is priceless. And delivering at St.Johns was a dream. Everyone there was top notch. Dr.klevens did an amazing job on my c-section. No scaring, and healed wonderfully. Everyone at this office is kind, courteous, and caring about women's health situations--which aren't always pretty. Great bedside manner, very gentle but also straightforward. I had an issue with another OB in the area but Dr. Klevens reassured me in my health concerns. Dr. Klevens is out of my insurance network now, but I will continue seeing her anyway because of the great care her office provides. read more

Sara is the best. Love her so much. My last OB/GYN was a witch and almost killed me. She really came through when I switched over her in the middle of my pregnancy. I also had pneumonia at the time. She and her staff have given me top notch care and have been super attentive to my needs. 1. She takes her time with patients. Always asks if there are any questions she can answer. She enjoys time spent with her patients. It's apparent she likes what she does. 2. Always prompt, courteous, friendly, has a smile on her face. 3. The offices are modern and top notch. Her nurse and the staff always get back in a timely manner. 4. I've been to Sara 15 times so far and have never had an appointment re-scheduled. Pretty amazing for an OB with lots of pregnant patients. 5. I could go on and rave but I am so glad I found her. 6. Takes my insurance and is great about billing. They have an in-house lab, 4d ultrasound, and is right next to St. John's. This makes everything so much more streamlined. read more

Dr. Klevens is an awesome OB! I have been a patient of Dr. Klevens for the last three years. She delivered my twins and remains my gynecologist today. Dr. Klevens is an extremely knowledgable and caring doctor who is open and flexible regarding birth plans and birth control options. Because my pregnancy was considered high-risk due to advanced maternal age and the size of my babies, I needed to go to a specialist on a regular basis. Dr. Klevens worked closely with my specialist and never made me feel like I had been "passed off" to another doctor. When it came time to deliver, we ran into serious complications, but Dr. Klevens remained calm and collected throughout, and performed my emergency C-Section expertly and in record time. I can't say enough as to how her demeanor kept both me and my husband calm through what was an otherwise harrowing experience. read more

I went to Dr Klevens for my annual and a few other things - there was some abnormal bleeding and I wanted to get some birth control to regulate my 'free-spirited' periods. I've had a traumatic past in terms of my lady parts and I can barely cope with lady doctor exams, to the point that I have panic attacks in the waiting room or on the table sometimes, including passing out. Sara was amazing! She talked me through everything and let me know what to expect at each turn. She also let me steal a hand from the nurse the whole time. She is kind and gentle but also straightforward and takes care to make sure you understand everything she is telling you and that she understands everything you are telling her. When being brought back for my appointment I was directed to Dr. Klevens office to meet her prior to going into the examination room. This was a first for me and I was very impressed! She came into her office, introduced herself with a handshake and warm smile and made me feel that she cared and wanted to know exactly what my needs were. She then met me in the examination room where she made me feel so comfortable. I loved how direct but friendly she was, it was the perfect balance for me. She also answered my questions with ease and simplicity which I appreciated very much. She seems like a wonderful doctor, I can understand why she has so many happy patients. read more

Dr. Klevens is a young Ob/Gyn who knows her field. She has a good bedside manner, listens and answers questions well. She works out of an office in a high rise. So, the parking is not included and a bit costly, but worth it for this doctor's services and her location. read more
