I do wish I liked it more because the amount of food you get for the price is a plus with their portion sizes. I know that's more important for a lot of people. Hey, the food isn't bad. I'm sure it fills a void for plenty of people out on the go, but it's would prefer better quality with less of their portion size to offset it. Thank you thank you though. "This is the rhythm of the night Baby, tonight's like fuego…read more We 'bout to spend the dinero We party to the extremo" (Black Eyed Peas) Our visit to Fuego Mexican Grill today was the result of three simple factors lining up perfectly. #1 - We hadn't had Mexican food in quite a while, so correcting that deficiency was on our radar. #2 - We were already in Cromwell picking up our Travelers Championship volunteer packages. #3 - And for several reasons, we never managed to have an anniversary meal this year. Together, those factors made Fuego the natural choice -- and a very good one. Walking into the dining room, we were struck by how stunning the room was. We saw dozens of ornate red/orange fire burst light fixtures on the ceiling. In fact, the ceiling had more than just light fixtures. It also had long cascading strands of white and pink flower garlands. There were cactus plants on the windowsills and huge murals of Mexican heritage imagery in the dining room, bar, and pretty much everywhere. . Our lunch started off when Valerie brought us a bowl of complimentary chips and salsa. The chips were terrific- a little thicker than others, but salt-free and addictive. The salsa was also very good -not watery and runny, just a little spicy, with plenty of onion, cilantro, and tomato chunks. For our food, we ordered a Traditional Quesadilla ($15.99) - described on the website as "Two flour tortillas, filled with melted cheese and shredded chicken or beef (we went with chicken), Sour cream, Guacamole and pico de Gallo on side" and an order of their Camarones Fuego ($23.99) - "Sauteed garlic shrimps with mushrooms in a spicy sauce. Served with white rice and salad". The food was delicious and the portions were very large. In fact, we took home more than we ate there, so it's almost like "Buy a lunch and get another one for free". My shrimp plate was great. First of all, it was definitely spicy, which was fine with me because I love that. It had a lot of shrimp and mushrooms, and probably more than a cup and a half of rice. The salad was a nice addition to the plate- lightly dressed Romaine, spinach, onions, and Cotija cheese. Valerie was pleasant and efficient throughout our visit. All in all, we really enjoyed our experience at Fuego. Improvement Opportunities I noticed some inconsistencies between their website pricing and descriptions when compared to the actual delivery of the dishes. Specifically, the quesadilla had a lower website price, and the Pico promised on the website was not delivered on our plate. When I asked Valerie if the dish was missing Pico, she confidently said, no... it's not included. Well, your website begs to differ.

My father got the pan con chicharron. Its a fried pork sandwich. Similar to the Combinado and minus the tamale but its between a roll and usually they put some of their salsa verde inside. Everything tasted very fresh and I feel that they try to make each dish taste amazing to make you want to come back and try it again or try new items. We also order a Chicha morada(purple corn drink) and jugo de papaya. Both amazing as well. No complaints, just compliments and I would recommend this to anyone that wants to try Peruvian breakfast. All the dishes were pretty expensive so we asked to have our soup comped but we were told we could not because the waitress asked twice is everything was OK and my husband didn't say anything til the end (although I feel that if someone isn't touching their food it's usually a sign). Feels like a strange rule but i did honestly deduct 1 star because of this. The menu is large and expensive, so it does feel like a gamble if something is that bad but we still cant get 1 in 7 entrees comped. We are a peruvian family (6 adults) and we all felt similarly.

Felt like I was looking down upon the rest of the guests having dinner. Nice table just felt a bit like we were on display however I still enjoyed as I love the style of these tables. Our waiter I think was new and definitely did not know wine. We asked for a bottle of the Merlot, which he pronounced back to us "Mer-LOT." I couldn't help but chuckle a bit when he left the table. Someone else came and opened the wine for us and when our main server came to check on us, he grazed the side of my glass and freaked, telling us the glasses are $500 each and if he breaks one, it comes out of his paycheck. Ummm what? This stuff we probably should not know! Again, I think he was new, probably not having much experience as a waiter. He definitely needs training on how to pronounce wine! Moving on to the cheese, they used to give you a cheese board with a few different cheeses. It's a bit different now. They give you whipped butter, a few pieces of cheese (last night was Cheddar), roasted red peppers, and whipped goat cheese with a touch of honey on top and some bread. Not sure if this changes/rotates at their new location. We chose not to do the raw bar or appetizer courses (fyi those are extra). For my salad, I chose the Signature Salad (forgot to take a picture of this course). This is where things went downhill for me. I asked for no apples. He said no problem. He did not tell us they ran out of the dried cranberries and caramelized nuts which to me make the whole salad. I used to love this salad at the old location. So, when telling us the specials he did say he "thinks" they had one salmon entree left, but had to check. Restaurants run out of things, and I get it, but take that salad off the menu if you're out of 2 ingredients and the customer asks for no apples. All that we got on our salads was lettuce, gorgonzola and fried potato skins. I feel like I had French fries on top of lettuce. It was awful. Also, I'm the only one that asked for no apples and my boyfriend got the same salad I got with only potato skins and lettuce and gorgonzola so clearly they were running out of things. We then saw other customers getting the same salad lacking main ingredients. For my entree, I got the Heavenly, which was supposed to have a lobster sauce. I couldn't put my finger on what the flavor of the sauce was. It was strange. It wasn't bad, it just didn't really go with the lobster. It had a brown tint to it. The manager came over after we ate and asked us how things were, and I told him about the salad and asked what the flavor in the sauce was. He told us a crab style sauce which made sense. Boyfriend had the filet. He said it wasn't Ruth's Chris good, but it was good. Mashed potatoes were very bland. Presentation was pretty bad. Dessert they get from a third party. I had the flourless chocolate cake which was the best part of the meal. Desserts are where they have improved with the new location. They used to give you petit fours style desserts, and now they give you full size desserts. It was delicious. I really want to like this place more because I like the concept of what they do. I guess on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays the chef creates whatever he'd like for guests for $25 a head. Mystery meals. The manager said that's where the name "Adventures in Eating" comes from. Again, we had come here previously, and I had a problem the last time with the Branzino where the waitress didn't tell me it came as the whole fish. Servers are friendly here, they just aren't top notch. Food is ok.

We were blown away by the quality of each dish!! We were served bread and cheese, oysters, tender meatballs, wedge salads, pea risotto with shrimp, and beef with mashed potatoes. I Everything was family style, except for the salads. We couldn't get over how good the food was!! We ordered desserts as well (not included) and they were crowd pleasers. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake, coconut custard bar, and tiramisu. Everything was delicious and we left very full!! Service was friendly and the prices were more than fair. We all agreed that we will be returning to Nataz soon.
