I called to confirm coverage and was told yes they took my dental insurance. Months have gone by since my cleaning and now I received a hefty bill stating I was out of network. I have made several attempts to speak to Dr. Georgina since she doesn't have an office manager and she refuses to speak to me via phone or in person. The dentist herself is good. She has a warm personality and is thorough. However, I will say, the past two years my husband has not seen the dentist because she has been out each time he went. My personal review, however, is regarding her hygienists . One of the older hygienists barely wears her mask and breathes on you during the entire cleaning. I had her my last time there. I could smell garlic from her last meal during the entire cleaning as she heavily breathed on me. My husband had shared this info with me for the last couple of years, but I had not had this hygienist before, so I couldn't confirm or deny. However, earlier this year, I switched hygienists because the one I had been seeing was very rough. Both my husband and I had the same experience with the hygienist who wears her mask slouched down and breathes heavily on you despite going different days for our appointment. The other hygienist I had been seeing for a few years before is very rough in her cleanings. I have seen this hygienist many times over the years. I have never had such painful cleanings. I had chalked it up to I am getting older, and maybe my teeth were getting worse, until I couldn't take it anymore and switched. The last time I saw her, I told her I was in pain, and she snapped back me that I should clean better. Interestingly, I have always been told I do a stellar job at home. In addition, I will share that a few years back, I needed to see a periodontist. I saw their in-office periodontist who belittled her assistant in front of me during my exam and was very unprofessional, calling her eye color "doodoo brown" among other strange commentary. She also seemed unsure of her recommendations for me. In fact, she recommended additional procedures that two other highly regarded perios I saw for second and third opinions denied that I needed. The office perio definitely did not leave a good impression, and given that I was going to undergo surgery and have to pay a significant amount out of pocket, I chose to go elsewhere for my procedure. I will say I got the sense that the office was displeased with my decision. They were a bit awkward when I told them I was going to have the procedure elsewhere. My experience has been that Dr. Merlo is a good dentist when she exams me, but my husband and I no longer felt comfortable at the practice because of the above. Hopefully, this review will prompt the office to improve their hygienists' work. I have found another office, where I had a thorough exam and cleaning- no pain, at all. This is what prompted me to write this review. I feel redeemed in thinking cleanings shouldn't be that painful and hygienists should wear their masks properly. read more

I started going to this dentist thanks to a friend that told me herself and her son received care here. She said the office was excellent so I gave it a shot. I started going about a year ago and its been a great experience. The staff and the doctor make you feel like you are part of their small family. I went to a large dental office before and it was horrible. The staff always acted like you were a number and I even got the vibe the dentist did not really care much. The only negative about the office is that they are constantly booked but if you book ahead enough you are ok. They send you enough reminders that you do not forget your appointment. Here I can tell they want me to have beautiful teeth and at an affordable cost. I have had my necessary cleanings here. In a month or so I will be getting invisiline to fix my teeth. After I will be getting whitening and a crown redone. I honestly cannot wait. I want my teeth fixed and pretty just how they should be. Dr. Merlo has made me feel like I am finally going to see results on my teeth and I cant wait. I highly recommend this office if you want personalized dental care that is top notch. I have gone to a long list of dental offices and some are good, some I wouldn't go back to and others are inconsistent with their care or charges. Here at Miami Dentistry I feel that I'm in good hands as soon as I walk through the door. You are greeted by smiles from the staff, and taken care of with care. Dr. Georgina Merlo is the head of this establishment and she is a very personable and approachable care provider. She is great with adults as well as kids. She takes the time to explain all the care they provide and the step by step process. I don't think I'll stop coming here because not only is the doctor friendly but so is her staff. So where do I start.. I have known Dr Merlo since we were kids and when I found out my daughter needed dental work I was mortified and didn't know what to do. I had seen another pediatric dentist and although she was very nice I just didn't feel 100 percent comfortable. I was uneasy all night and then I remembered Dr Merlo was an old friend that I could talk to and maybe she could provide some clarity on how I should proceed with my 3 year old. She took out the time to contact me and discuss my daughters situation. I was happy to hear she also sees children. I made an appointment immediately and she truly was amazing .. And so was her staff. Jackie who was Dr Merlo's assistant and hygienist was AMAZING!! They were able to get more X-rays than the other dentist office and she gave us her honest recommendations. I made an appointment to complete two fillings that she needed. Although my daughter removed the laughing gas mask Dr Merlo did an amazing job in calming my daughter (and me too LOL). She wasn't concerned about anything else other than not creating a negative experience that would make her fearful of seeing a dentist. Although my daughter cried through pretty much the whole thing, Dr Merlo didn't break a sweat and neither did Jackie. My daughter seriously left there all smiles, gave hugs to everyone , and asked me when we were going to see "Dr Yoyi". My husband and I will be the next patients to see Dr Merlo. I love Dr. Merlo! I started seeing her a few years ago while I was pregnant. It had been years since I'd been to a dentist due to a bad experience. This has changed my opinion completely. She and her staff are wonderful. I even take my children to her. My daughter who is 4, loves going to the dentist! After my pregnancy my teeth had moved quite a bit and they fixed them with invisaline. My teeth have never looked better. She made sure I had the trays I needed and my follow up appointments booked. I stopped going to this office back in 2011. Although the dentist is great, the office has the deplorable habit of 'upselling'. You go for a cleaning and will spend $200 to $500 for the visit between the add ons and hidden fees such as oral exam, photos, bite wing x rays, pano exray, gum receding measurments, oral cancer exam and so on. It is obvious that this office had a course in 'dental economics' in an attempt to drive up revenue. I mean is it really necessary to radiate your customers every 6 months with different types of xrays in order to "see between my teeth"? My last cleaning they insisted that I do panorama x rays while the visit six months prior to that they made me do bite wing xrays! read more

I wish I could say the same things about her and her staff. After she purchased the practice from Dr Mongalo, she was to finish an implant, which Dr Mongalo had started. Instead of doing the job, which had been paid upfront and in full, it was impossible to get an appointment to complete the procedure. Moreover, she wanted to get paid again.
