My son and his friend wanted to go for ice cream and we usually go to Old Fashioned Ice Cream Shop on Straight Path. But they don't have indoor seating and I just got a new car 2 days ago. No way was I letting 3 teens in my car with ice cream. His friend recommended Coyle's off Sunrise Highway. I can't believe we've never stopped here before! Where has this place been all my life! Now it is the most economical but it is delicious! & they don't skimp on the scoops! They have sooo many options! I tried a few and ultimately went with the cookies and crème with crunchies! My daughter went basic as well with chocolate and sprinkles. They do allow you to taste flavors so if you are feeling adventurous , I saw go for it! You likely will not be disappointed. I typically go to carvel for ice cream cakes, but this might by new go to! I would consider myself the world's foremost leading expert on Cookies 'n Cream...and this place knocked it out of the park. The key thing you look for is the color and the Oreo volume (the more Oreos, the grayer the ice cream). This place has the perfect shade of gray (no pun intended). As a point of comparison, think of all those places where it's completely white except for a few micro particles of Oreo. Oh and hats off to the staff for a nice healthy portion. read more

Stopped by this place last weekend. At first, we thought they also served frozen yogurt but we were wrong. Instead of walking out, our eyes were locked onto the abundant homemade ice cream flavors they have in stock. Anything you wish you try, they will give you a sample spoonful. My wife ordered a small ice cream in a cup for about $6.50 and the portion was literally a scoop and a half. I had a waffle cone which comes in 3 scoops and that was around $10. Definitely flavorful and the portion is to be applauded for. If you happen to opt for their waffle cone dipped in either chocolate or rainbow sprinkle, there is zero up-charge. The service was impeccable and we enjoyed the whole interior vibe of a diner feel. Definitely a high recommend for me and deserving of 5 stars. read more

The staff were very helpful explaining my options for the birthday cake in stock that was closest to the flavors my daughter likes. I had forgotten to order in advance and they were happy to write on the one I chose. They even included some free candles! When we served the cake, everyone raved about how good it was. In Bay Shore looked for ice cream place. Islip location and Bay Shore nearby but as the Bay Shore location was on the way, we stopped there after asking a store merchant on Main Street if they cold tell us where an icecream store was. The merchant did mention to call this location as she had heard they might be closing. I did call and they were open. I noted and bought frozen peanut butter dog treats 4 in a bag for 2 dollars. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a1950s style bar seats and tables. Marilyn Monroe picture along with other of the error images, along with a few halloween decors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] (see pix) Icecream is home made from the products they get, some specialty items in freezer case as tortonis. They happened to have cherry pistachio, a flavor I seldom see and after 3 try flavors I opted for that. Many waffle cone and waffle cups to choose from. I ordered s'mores and had bites of mint chocolate ice cream and peanut butter mixed in. My spouse had chocolate peanut butter pieces in his plain strawberry ice cream and his was freezer burnt as well with large ice crystals in it. The taste was immediately freezer burn taste. Yesterday, my daughter wanted a mint chocolate chip with vanilla, fudge, and crunchy es. A classic. It was just not good. The mint chocolate chip was way too green - it looked unnatural. One bite and I was out! It tasted like medicine. I was really disappointed. The new owner needs to turn this around. Get the recipe back or if you're ordering your ice cream - change distributor. After reading about the LI Ice cream tour, which I sadly missed, I made a list of places to check out. When I realized I was near Coyle's I had to give it a try. My first impressions: Very cute, well decorated and lots of flavors to choose from! I didn't know where to begin. I was so optimistic that the ice cream would live up to the expectations.... and it did! We all got something different and all of the flavors were awesome! I personally enjoyed the banana Oreo and the Mississippi mud. But the real winner was the hot fudge. Delicious, thick, rich homemade fudge was the perfect topping. Ran in for a quick two scoops on a cold Sunday night in January. They young lady who was behind the counter let me try a few flavors with no problems at all. The service was perfect. I ended up getting their peanut butter fudge flavor and it did not disappoint. It is quite evident that this shop uses very high quality ingredients when they make their homemade ice cream. Very cute 1950's inspired decor. Plenty of tables to sit at and enjoy your ice cream, as well as a fun counter seating. Overall, this place is exactly what I'd expect from a homemade ice cream shop. $6.50 for two scoops, which is par for the course when it comes to high quality ice cream. I had one of the weirdest experiences in this ice cream shop today. I don't know how they train their management, but I watched an older woman who is definitely a manager totally demean a child who you could tell was no more than in high school for giving me a fork. I even tipped the young woman $14 to cover the fork when I paid. It made me debate on whether I would ever use the store again. I don't know if that's how they train their management to speak to the high school staff who are working there but it's definitely not how I would want someone speaking to my child. She really did nothing wrong but give me a fork which her manager made sure to say SHE THE MANAGER PAYS FOR HERSELF AND THEY ARE NOT FOR CUSTOMERS they were in the back so I guess the rude manager didn't realize how loud she was and that I could hear her, but I heard every word When the young woman came out to give me the fork I smiled at her and thanked her. She was nothing but professional you could not even tell that she had just gotten her ass chewed out. She should've been in the manager's position. She was the one more qualified in my personal opinion to run that store. I tipped her $14 because I heard every word that went on in the back your manager is very unprofessional and I personally would not ever hire anyone like her. I don't know if it's even legal how she spoke to that child. It wouldn't surprise me if she took the tip to cover her fork purchases. That's the kind of woman she struck me as never have I ever seen a woman do that to someone who is her employee and no older than 16. It was really disturbing. I'm glad the young lady made my ice cream. I don't like that kind of hate being pushed into my food. The young woman who waited on me was nothing but kind she was wearing hoop earrings with little hearts on them. I did not get her name, but she was as sweet as could be even after her boss treated her like crap. read more

Personally I had some sundae that was a brownie and cherries and chocolatey heaven. My daughter totally loved it too. I will be back for some other sundaes... I'm definitely getting that pb&j one!!
