I've visited McNulty's twice with my daughters, and while the ice cream itself is good, the customer service has been disappointing both times. The staff came across as unfriendly and uninterested, almost as if they didn't want to be there. Interactions felt very dry, and it seemed like basic questions or requests were met with annoyance. It's unfortunate because the quality of the ice cream would definitely bring us back, but the overall experience matters--especially when visiting with kids. I'm hoping this is something that can improve, as a more welcoming atmosphere would make a big difference. read more

This place is always packed and they have a great selection of home made in house ice cream that a blow your socks off. Very good and no cutting corners making this amazing ice cream. Plenty of your standard ice cream flavors to choose from in addition to a few limited sugar free options. I have been bringing my family here for years. My son and I share a birthday month. McNulty's Ice Cream Parlor can take a picture and put it on an ice cream cake?? Every October, we order an ice cream cake with our picture on it. My youngest son, he had to be about 10 at the time, he tells me he doesn't like crunchies in our birthday cake. What?! Crunchies are the best part! We both like chocolate peanut butter so over the years we made it work. During the summer there are long lines so be prepared to wait outside after you get your ice cream. Inside there are a few tables inside but the action is outside. There are plenty of tables set up outside to enjoy your ice cream in our beautiful Long Island town. I'll usually drive one of my hot rods to McNulty's on a nice Saturday night. Typically one of the dads will come over to talk cars, it's a very family friendly spot. As far as ice cream? My wifes go to is one scoop of Coconut Almond, its her favorite. As for me, two scoops! Absolutely the best ice cream experience I've had. I've been coming here for 20 + years and it always manages to get better each time. The quality is top notch & they always give generous amounts. The staff behind the counter were young, pleasant, and more than helpful!! McNulty's is a cute local ice cream parlor, with a small-town vibe. (Just what I had been looking for!) They had some seating inside as well as outdoors, which was perfect on the night I was there. I went in with one thing in mind, but by the time I ordered, the lady next to me had the most amazing looking cone...I ended up ordering just as she had! (I believe it was the Chocolate Almond ice cream...yummy!!) How this place only has an average of 3 Stars bewilders me. I guess people don't get the old fashioned ice cream shop concept. Yes that's what this is. Let's get a couple of things out of the way first. The parking lot is gravel and can be a little difficult entering and exiting but if you slow down and position your car it will be fine. Second, cash only. Don't get me started on why but it is what it is and you're not spending $100 on ice cream so don't whine. Ok now that we have all of that out of the way let's talk ice cream. All kinds of flavors both soft and hard ice cream. All types of toppings and hot fudge... hmmmmm. Banana splits, sundaes, the whole gammit of specialty ice cream. I recently found out they do that edible picture on a cake. Could have used that a couple of months ago. Mostly young kids here, so I convince my grandkids to go so I fit in without looking silly. First of all, great service! The lady behind the counter was friendly and working hard while being extremely pleasant and cheerful. But it's all about the ice cream people. I haven't tried every flavor they have but I don't get the hype. Very bland ice cream! and the consistency isn't really all that rich. Tastes like cheap grocery store brand ice cream to me!! And it's expensive-ish. Lastly, the size small is TOO BIG. One probably wonders why would I complain about THAT? I'd rather pay 5 bucks for a good single scoop than have to pay 7.60 for a small size cone where the cone can't even handle all the ice cream on it! i grew up as a child going to mcnultys. I used to ride my bicycle there with my family and enjoy amazing sundaes and nice cream flavors that when ordered I received the correct item. the past 6x I have ordered from there the order has been incorrect or it has been cancelled without any means of contact to inform me. I am truly disappointed with the customer service and the lack of attention that the employees have, or should I say do not have. McNulty's is a cute little ice cream store way up north in Miller Place. I really enjoyed the country vibe of North Country Road. McNulty's stands out along the non commercial tree lined road. Ice cream is homemade with many flavors, nothing too edgy. Friendly young people offering to let you taste first . Not needed as it was easy to pick a few : ). Took home a mixed pint and had a mixed flavor cone to go. All good. Is their bright green pistachio my idea of amazing .. well no.. was the chocolate dark in color.. uhm a bit light.. but the flavor was fine. It was clean inside, cheerful and everything tasted exceptionally fresh as this place seems to move its product. So worth stopping in when near there or surrounding towns. Pretty surprised to see a 3 star rating for a place that always has a line out the door, is involved in the community and is usually the first place young teens go to get their first job. I've always had pleasant experiences as long as I can remember and tonight, they put the icing on the cake. I called in right before they closed at 9:45 to see if they had mint Oreo ice cream and if so I'd be right in. The young man on the phone told me yes they did. Being that I only live a minute down the road I drove there about 3 minutes after the call. I got there just in time and shared excitedly I only wanted Mcnultys ice cream, since I just got my wisdom teeth removed, only to be told it was cash only. Disappointedly (in myself and the situation, not them) I left the store, not wanting to hold them up any longer by going to get cash. (At this point it was about 9:55 I get a call as soon as I get home from the young man at the counter who must have retrieved my number through the caller ID. He told me "The owner said it's ok, and for you to come back and just take the ice cream." I was so touched by this act of kindness. I wound up going back wth money anyway since I was home, but needed to shout this place out in reciprocation for their compassion. Bravo McNulty's! read more

Have been coming here my whole life, at least once a week during the summers with my family. Great atmosphere and the line usually moves pretty quickly. Ice cream is usually very good. I have never had any issues up until the last two weeks, I'm not lactose intolerant- my ice cream tasted kinda sour last time and I thought nothing of it but got super sick after. My dad, who ordered something different too, got so sick after he ate his as well. Thought maybe it was something else and went the week after again but got sick AGAIN, so did my Dad. AGAIN. Not going to be trying it again for a long while. Also not to be all Karen, but the manager/owner was there both times these past couple weeks that we've gone and they were so intense to the workers, such a tense and stressful vibe that emitted through the whole store. I was scared and stressed for the workers and felt like at any moment the manager would try to hover and find something wrong or fight with someone. If you work here, God bless-I'm sure it builds great work ethic but that's not the vibe you want when it's just ice cream. read more

Charming little ice cream joint that has been around for quite a while serving the local area. Used to be better. The staff is still a bunch of nice polite kids, but the quality of the ice cream seems to have gone down a notch or two. Homemade (or at least it used to be) with plenty of flavors to choose from yet out of the three I had in my sundae none really stood out among the mint chip, vanilla peanut butter, and butter pecan. I mean, it was ok but didn't wow me. Kind of bland. Still, it's a decent bet on a wam summer day to grab a cone or cup of ice cream and sit on their patio enjoying a cold treat. Some tables inside but can get pretty busy and full as it's a small place. Also, the parking lot is just as tiny so be prepared to park along the busy street when it's crowded. Cash only is kind of a drag though. Especially if you're paying for the group and the tab is close to $30. read more

The number of times I've placed an order long before their closing time, only to have it cancelled, is extremely disappointing.

We've been coming here for years! My favorite is the black raspberry ice cream with little chocolate raspberry candies inside, which I order every time. Also we ordered the heath ice cream. Alas, another Long Island ice cream parlor that DOESN'T USE GLOVES when scooping the ice cream, right after handling money. We were anticipating this, and rather than embarrassing the poor chap who was working back there all alone, we opted to order our ice cream in cups. Am I the only one who takes issue with this uncleanly practice? Perhaps they wrap the cone in a napkin, but still, hands are very dirty after handling money so please at least (if you're not going to wear gloves), WASH YOUR HANDS before handling food. It's as bad as not washing after using the bathroom. Seems like a Health Department issue. At any rate, the ice cream tasted great as always, but the owner of this place should really consider instructing their employees on how to be as cleanly as possible. Best ice cream this side of Italy. I'm in my 30's and have gone here every summer since I was a kid and now do so with my daughter.

I came here after dinner as a family member recommended I take my 2 children for "the best ice cream around here" the ice cream sure looked delicious for this dessert lover. Selection selection selection.. they had a huge variety with waffle cones waffle bowls and a gigantic selection of toppers. I went with a waffle cone with chocolate and couldn't be happier. The kids each got a cookie dough as that's their new favorite of the week they scarfed it down faster than me! The Parking lot is very big and they have plenty of outdoor seating and a few indoor tables as well. The staff member I dealt with wasn't the most welcoming or nice person I asked a question and got a nasty "if you let me finish you wouldn't have a question" I shrugged it off but then she continued to show no interest or passion... she range me up and I asked how much a second time and she clearly was upset and barked 17 and change... she was wearing a thick mask and it was hard to hear her. 4/5 ice cream 2/5 service. read more
