Huge menu and fresh seafood galore! My friend swears by this place so we gave it a happy try and were not disappointed. Food is excellent and portions are huge. I had the pan-fried haddock with potato skins (nostalgic for the 90s... they were filling but slightly too salty for me). The haddock was delicious and a huge piece, really enjoyed it. There are interesting daily specials, well priced... the pork chop looked enviable. Server was a true pro, gave good recommendations and looked after us well. Interior could use a decor update and exterior is a terrasse on a parking lot... but the menu and value are worth it.
I'm sorry to say that the small lobster was overcooked....you can tell when there is tons of the white stuff (the lobsters blood), it was not sweet, probably because it was overcooked. I would have preferred plain or salted butter to their seasoned version. The spicey potato skins were not spicy but very salty and they're not skins as you expect on most menus, but shavings from potatoes. The steak was perfectly cooked and tender but way too salty. The coleslaw slaw was good, but could have been much better if it werent so watery. Rock, my server was patient and excellent.

The part of the restaurant where we were seated had framed photos and articles surrounding local sports, so I spent my time waiting for my order staring at them. We were also served bottomless coffee, which is welcome. I ordered the surf & turf scallops with a medium rare steak and mashed potatoes and coleslaw as sides. Part of me wanted to try out the lobster surf & turf since that included the entire lobster rather than the tail that's normally served, but it might've been too much for lunch. The dish came around 35 minutes after the order. The scallops were fresh and savoury, the quality you would come to expect on the East Coast. The coleslaw and salad were fine, but never really stood out. The steak was exceptionally thick, so it turned out to be more rare than medium rare. The mashed potatoes come with butter, something you'll need upon realizing you need something to offset its dryness. I did enjoy the dish overall, though for the purpose of filling me up the surf & turf had a small portion size for its price. This probably goes better as a dinner meal, in hindsight. I would like to come here again if I'm ever in the area and try out some of the other seafood dishes they serve.
Wow! Unbelievable food and service. Special shout-out to our server, Rock. We were a party of 10 on a Monday night. We were in search of lobster and a place that could accommodate kids. We struck out at other places like Salty's, Bluenose, and McKelvie's - and were a little hesitant to cross the toll bridge to Dartmouth when there were so many options downtown. But based on reviews and a friend's recommendation - we went for it. Wow - was it ever worth it. The restaurant is situated centrally in Dartmouth, and the outside isn't anything special to look at (though the drive passed the ponds, lakes, and the rowing club was quite picturesque). Our reservation was for 7:45 pm. We had a great corner table. Our server, Rock, was incredibly hospitable, knowledgable and articulate about the menu and the cuts of meat, and was on point with all of his recommendations. He strongly recommended the state based off of how they preserve an age it. Our table tried so many different things. Rock was diligent about double checking all menu items for egg and nut allergies. Everything was good. Appetizers: - Calamari was excellent. It is fried, but it's delicious and works with both sauces (we had our sauces on the side, but it's probably best to get it with sweet chilli on - and the aioli on the side). - Scallop pan fried was good. There are four served. The sauce was ok. - The Beef Nachos were huge! We had the large size. Plenty of deliciousness for multiple people to drive into. - The poutine was also huge, and the kids that ate it loved it. Mains: We had various selections of surf and turf based on Rock's recommendation to try steak. - the Steak overall was outstanding, most/ juicy/ flavourful. - the Steak and Lobster dinner came with a full size lobster. Everyone that had the lobster finished it whole. Highly recommended. - our local friend had the scallops and potatoes. People with the scallops enjoyed them but I didn't get a bite of it. - I had the Thai curry mussels and steak special. It was delicious. - some of the kids had burgers, and they enjoyed them. - there are a ton of sides to choose from. I'd recommend the loaded potato if you want a hybrid of potato skins and chips, garlic bread, and smashed veggies with brown sugar. The fries were good but nothing outstanding or unique. Dessert: - The skor ice cream cake was sooooooo good. - the caramel sundae was pretty basic but good and served with Chapman's ice cream. The watermelon ale was an nice, light beer. This place has our highest recommendation. Thank you Rock for an amazing experience and wonderful food. All the best to you. Honestly, one of the best servers I've had - period.
Ok, we all know Mic Mac is a staple in Dartmouth. Was recently in town from Virginia and visited this place twice. Was never disappointed either time. The service is great, food is favorable, beer is on point. It is always packed with patrons but you never seem to wait on anything. If anyone is ever in Dartmouth I highly recommend the Lemon Pepper Haddock. Was so awesome and I can't say anything bad about it. Bravo!

Always a hearty meal and servers that are proud of their jobs and welcoming even if you are not their guest of the time you arrive. Steaks are large and well cooked. Fresh seafood is also available at a fair price. Our favorites are usually grilled salmon and baked potato with mashed turnip & carrots for me. For hubby grilled chicken Greek salad. read more

Can't get over this place as per our family's reco. It's worth the hype and did not disappoint. The service is top-notch. They're able to accommodate a party of 60plus and the FOOD esp the lobsters yummers read more

Amazing service. Went for lunch with a large group and service went so smoothly and fast. The food was great and coming from out of town I would fly out for them again. Again can't express how much the waitresses were so kind and amazing!! read more

My wife and I detoured to Dartmouth, N.S. During our recent holiday shopping trip in Halifax. We stopped in on a busy Saturday morning to a packed restaurant. We waited for about 5-10 mins for a table to open up. The waitress took our drink order and returned not long after and took our food order. From the time we ordered until we got our food was 13 mins. We both ordered the Eggs Benny. I substituted the back bacon with regular bacon. It included spiced home fries. The waitress was friendly and professional. read more

My coworkers had visited for a work trip and everyone talked about how they loved this restaurant. They loved it so much that they came on several occasions. I was excited to try the food on the menu. I ordered the steak and scallops and all I can say is that this was the best steak and scallops that I have ever eaten. If I can take the food back to the states I would. Service was fast, food cooked to perfection. The scallops were perfect and I have had some scallops that were over cooked but this was not the case here. read more

Where to start! Brent was the most fantastic server I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was truly the most enthusiastic I've ever met. A true representative of the east coast hospitality. We had just arrived from Calgary to visit my parents and they brought us here to eat. I'd be lying if I didn't say I was disappointed to hear the clams where sold out. Brent sold me on the digby scallops, which didn't disappoint. I had a great refreshing apricot brew from the nine locks brewery. I was so excited to see the chris brother's fried pepperoni and man it was delicious. I highly recommend this place... I wish I could import the hospitality and food to Calgary. read more

Got a chance to check out the new Mic Mac Bar and Grill location last week after a BBQ date with good friends was rained out. We have been going to the Mic Mac for years and this was our first time since they moved to the new location. The new location is a great change; if you ate at the old location you know how it is almost always packed and there was no place to wait for a table. This meant that hungry patrons waiting for a table were lined up out the door or hovering over people finishing off their meals. Not a positive experience for either. The new, larger location fixes that with a host, who takes your name if there is a wait for tables, and a long, padded bench in the entrance. Especially for older patrons the latter is a nice. We were told that there would be a twenty minute wait for seating and that the kitchen was backed up so it might be as much as 30 minutes after we placed an order that we'd get our food. If we were in a rush or starved that was good to know up front. Well, we were starved but really why would you go anywhere else when you were already at the Mic Mac. It just isn't even a question. As my charming dining companion and I went a bit early to get some rare time to talk without kids, and the waiting area was already full, we chose to wait outside. However, there were gaggle of smokers right by the front door. This meant we couldn't stay handy the hostess to check on our seats and if we'd gone inside every time it was opened smoke drifted in. We chose to wait in our car. This was a bit of a pain as we had to get out and walk back to the Mic Mac every time There needs to be a buffer from the smokers around the front door/waiting area. The hostess' prediction was accurate and about 20 minutes later we were being seated. The décor is dark and the new location inherited some of the old furniture, including the uncomfortable, hard 80s pub chairs with them. I'd describe the décor as Steak and Stein circa 1990s if I'd ever been in one. The wall is full of pictures of old Dartmouth and from the owner's family photo albums which is the one nice touch. If I had any concerns that the food wouldn't be as good at the new location my fears were allayed as soon we dug into the "loaded" potato skins. Loaded means the Pangea-sized serving is covered with a layer of molten cheese and what looks like an entire package of crumbled bacon. The skins are flavoured with the same delicious spice that is used for the steaks and are thin and crispy; none of the flavourless half-a-potato chunks of semi-cooked spuds that you get at some bars. The loaded skins were about $14. Split four ways they were an excellent appy and kept us satisfied until the meat main-event. If there are better potato skins in HRM I need to know where and now. I had the striploin with a side caesar salad and garlic bread with cheese (yes more cheese). It was $25 for the 16 ounce steak and sides. I noticed that the prices had increased from last time which is understandable given the rising cost of beef. As always the steak is cooked just the way you ordered so there is no need to as for another grade down to make sure you get it the way you like: rare here is rare. Every bite was perfect. The salad was nothing special but there was real bacon on it and the dressing didn't come in a Kraft packet. I've heard their burgers are very good and believe it. The brunch options look good too. Someday I'll have to try something else on the menu but when the steaks are this good it will be a hard sell. There were no local beer options which is too bad. The most exotic thing on tap is Rickard's. A craft brew would have made a great companion to the meat-fest. With two steaks, non-adult beverages, a tea and splitting the skins with our friends the bill came to just over 70 bucks with tip and tax. Not cheap for pub grub but then again I think the Mic Mac has better food than your average pub. It was nice to try out the new location to see that if anything the Mic Mac is even better than ever. read more

Been here probably a dozen times over the last several years and it's consistently decent. Last visit, I seemed to have been the first customer of the day at 9am on a Saturday, which I found shocking, as other breakfasts, the place has been packed. Got their daily special of fish cake eggs benny, which was took, maybe could've been left to cook a minute or two more, but had decent flavor, was very filling. Took about 20 mins for it to get to my table, but that was ok. Friendly service. read more

Enjoyed a nice Surf and Turf Deluxe meal. Was seated quickly even though it was busy. It did take some time to get the food to me but Serena (the wait staff) explained this is because the sea food is cooked fresh. The food was very tasty and well worth the wait. This dish was large enough for 2 people. The desert was Deep Fried Ice Cream with chocolate and caramel sauce and whip cream. Very tasty. All the staff seemed to be happy to be working and they were working well as a team. read more
