DO NOT COME HERE. I have worked in vet clinics in the past while trying to get through school and be warned: the cheap prices reflect the care/environment your pets will have behind closed doors. I am and will always be a stickler for the genuine care for all animals. I took my dog to this clinic out of emergency because we were in town and it happened to be the closest to us, we soon found that the place is like a run-down shelter or pound. Only worse because it is a veterinary clinic and therefore yields higher expectations. When my wife and I returned to visit our dog as he recovered from surgery in the back, we got a good idea of the way Dr. Michael chooses to run his clinic. He had no towels for any the pets in cages in the back or for the one on the surgery table. I did catch a glimpse of some grimy few piled into a corner cage. Surgery was being done on a cat on a bare, metal surgery table with again, no towels or even heating pads for the pet. Pets, including mine, were recovering from surgery in bare cages (some off balance with broken wheels!) and laying on the metal floors SHIVERING as the anesthesia wore off. Core temperature significantly drops, as with humans, during AND after surgery. For him to shove a dog or cat into a cage with only some scraps of newspaper after surgery? Downright cruel. Every single clinic I ever worked in always maintained clean blankets/towels for all pets. ESPECIALLY those in surgery. The veterinarian is an older man and seemed to try and do everything as rushed as possible to just get the animals and owners out of there. Which seemed to go hand in hand with the bare minimum he does to make pets comfortable. My wife had later asked about grooming services for our other lab and their idea of a priced bath is some shampoo and a hose; adding that there is no tub or blow dryers. Oh and to no surprise, our dog ended up getting an infection at the suture site! We quickly took him to an old trusted vet in our hometown for treatment. Never will step foot into this clinic and wish he'd get inspected and fined to forcefully change things in his clinic. I will add this positive bit, this is all besides the staff. They were kind and notably working their butts off with what they had but seemed oblivious to how run-down the place was. The veterinarian himself is the one to blame for the environment he chooses to have for the animals with an understaffed clinic and misleading services. A multitude of clean towels for all pets in the back, sufficient staff, comfort/warmth for the animals especially those in surgery and a tub or at least blow dryer for the priced baths he offers are all his duty to fix. Otherwise he might as well find a job at the damn pound. Would fit right in with the bare minimum treatment of pets. If you can truly care less that your pet may be treated like so, lying on a cold bare cage floor during/after surgery with zero warmth or placed into a cage for boarding with no towel/comfort or possibly get infection from surgery or get hosed down and possibly left to air-dry, then by all means, take advantage of the questionably cheap prices this clinic has to offer. Otherwise, please do avoid at all costs. read more

wow!!! is all i have to say!! so i rescued a dog in November and after a few weeks i went to a vet dont want to mention who but there i did the spade while she was being spade i found out while in the shelter she was actually pregnant and no one knew not even me. so do to over population and housing i decided it would be better for her health since she had allready to litters before i got her to take them out and also spade her. so needless to say it was a big surgery. that day when i got home she began to bleed to i had to bring her back.. doc said all was good so we went home.. few weeks later i felt all these balls around the area she was stiched up at and doc said that is not a problem... so not feeling that was enough i decided to go see DR. MICHAEL and man what a difference his staff was amazing and super helpful.. after just taking a few minutes to look at her he def said something is not right and the scare is really bad. not to mention she was starting to shed like crazy. so he decided to open her up and guess what he found! he was right! inside was the sutures from the first surgery and there was about 5 of them all infected internally and about to go to her pancreas! he decided to go in and cut all this out and re stich her up the correct way. and she is now doing great and looks better! also he did a skin graph and everything checked out so he not only did that but helped me in bettering her diet due to all the things he noticed where lacking in her diet. i am so happy i saw Dr. Michael from now on this is the only place i will go and i strongly recommend everyone to go here! thank you for seeing and fixing a problem that could have gotten really bad really quick. read more

I have been taking my pets to Dr. Michael for fourteen years. I only have possitive things to say about him. I was referred to him by a dear friend who took her Dachshund to him who could not stand on his hind legs. She was told by her vet that the only way the dog would walk again would be with surgery. Dr. Michael, with medication, had the dog walking again in about three weeks. My little terrier was attacked by a large dog one night several years ago. At the emergency hospital I was told that without surgery the dog would not live through the night. Since I was looking at a couple thousand dollars that I did not have, I took my dog against their advise and went to Dr. Michael first thing in the moring. He was just wonderful! He saved her life without surgery, saw her every day for a month for wound care, and at an affordable fee. My neice adopted an american bull dog at the pound. The dog became very ill shorthly after bringing her home. After many vistits to her vet, he told my neice that there was nothing else that could be done for the dog and she would have to put the dog down. I referred her to Dr. Michael before taking that step for a second opinion. Dr. Michael knew exactly what the dog had and saved the dogs life. I recommend Dr. Michael to anyone who is in search of a vet or needs a second opinion. I have several members of my family that take their pets to Dr. Michael and are all very satisfied with his service, knowledge and kind staff. read more

I am what most people consider an animal lover. When I take my cats and dogs to the vet I hope that the doctor will treat my pet as the beloved little animal that brings joy into my home, and not just see these creatures as dollar signs. Dr. Michael exceeds these hopes I have. He truly cares for his furry patients. He goes beyond the call of duty when treating my pets. He has a heart of gold and understands that your pet isn't just a pet but a part of your family. I recently had to take my over 16 year old cat to him. I had to run and knock on the door because the hospital was already closed and he warmly took my cat into his arms and cared for him. Dr. Michael doesn't nickel and dime you for every concern you have for your pet. When my Rottweiler that suffered from seizures would come in to regularly visit Dr. Michael he was so kind and good to not only my big puppy but to us. I do not have enough kind words to express how many times he's taken care of the 6 pets we've taken to him at various times in our lives. This is by far the best veterinarian's hospital I've ever been to. The staff is always there to help you with a smile and hugs when you need it. They truly adore animals. Dr. Michaels is a excellent and compassionate veterinarian who cares deeply for the animals in his care. He did surgery on my lab when just a puppy because she did not have a full formed hip socket. I also have a boxer which has treated for a variety of ailments. My boxer started having problems breathing on a Sunday and Dr. Michaels was closed so I brought my boxer in for breathing problems to Miami Veterinary Services. They immediately mentioned surgery, but I did not think that was wise so I wanted a more conservative treatment with oxygen and Ivs. They pressured me several times to have surgery or my dog may die. The following day, Monday they called and said dog was better but again pressured me for the need to do surgery. They wanted $3,000 after I had already shelled out a hefty amount for emergency care on Sunday. I called Dr. Michael and he said to bring the dog in right away to him. I immediately brought my dog into him and he treated my dog with shots and sent us home with pills. The dog rapidly improved and recovery was fast thanks to Dr. Michaels. I highly recommend Dr. Michaels as he will provide you with great service and care for your animals as he is a compassionate veterinarian who's bottom line is your pets best interest. read more

I've brought my pets here a few times. Yes, Dr. Michael is very cheap; however having gone to other veterinarians and being able to compare, you notice why. The facility smells terrible and looks dirty to match. I went in for a visit one time and the Dr. himself did not smell very good. He had a stain on his shirt, so I can only imagine what might have happened given that it is an animal hospital, but at least change, right? Dr. Michael is a good vet but his methods are outdated. Good if you want to do vaccines and preventives but I wouldn't do surgeries here. The doctor speaks english, but there is a bit of a language barrier that makes things a little more difficult to understand without the help of a tech. As for the lady complaining about having to pay for another checkup? I don't see the issue. At the end of the day, the doctor and staff are doing their job. No one works for free. Not to mention people don't go to their personal doctors and start asking for freebies. Vets go to school just like human doctors do. I don't see why he should be giving anything away for free considering that he is already dirt cheap. read more

I highly recommend Michael Animal Hospital. Dr. Michael saved my 18-year-old datchund's life after negligence from another local veterinarian almost killed my dog. Dr. Michael's professionalism, knowledge and dedication is unmatched. It is clear that this is not only his profession but it is his vocation. My datchund was suffering from acute renal failure due to being prescribed a very strong medication for too long and for the wrong diagnosis. He was hospitalized for more than two weeks. During my visits, which were frequent and long, I observed Dr. Michael and his entire staff provide great care, gentleness, much patience and love for all the animals. I have been taking my dogs to Dr. Michael since they were puppies. Its been over 10 years and I wouldn't go to anyone else. My first dog was attacked by another dog at my building at 9pm. I was able to call him and he picked up right away. He opened the office to take her and operated on her that night! If it wasn't for him I don't think she would have made it. He kept her for 2 weeks and nursed her back to health. When I got my second dog I took her Dr. Michael when she needed her puppy vaccines. He has been her doctor since then.She also had a kidney stone and she recovered from her surgery well. He's a great doctor and great surgeon! Love him and the staff there! Wouldn't take my babies to any other vet and I drive down there from Boca (I sit through all that traffic for him)!!!! That should tell you a lot!!! I have been taking my dog to Michael Animal Hospital since I got him in 2009. I have never been disappointed with the level of service and care provided at the office. Dr. Michael and his staff are very attentive and caring for all the pets brought in and remember me and my dog by name every time we come in. There have also been times when I have had a problem outside of regular office hours and am very grateful for their willingness to stay late to help me, as well as always doing it with a courteous smile and a caring hand. For the past year my pup has had persistent medical issues; the doctor and his staff have been so helpful in trying to diagnose and treat my dog as well as very sympathetic to my concerns as an owner and I couldn't be more grateful. Dr Michael has been our vet since 1989. He currently treats my3 dogs (all are "seniors" and have been followed by him since puppyhood) Dr M administers their routine vaccinations and has treated them for a number of illnesses/ procedures such as: skin infections, pink eye (yes, dogs too can get it), teeth cleanings, tooth extractions, anal gland surgery, spaying, food poisoning intervention and weight management ( 1 of the dogs is overweight) Dr Michael is a very professional and compassionate veterinarian, I cannot say enough good things about him and his office staff who are always so courteous and efficient. They are a pleasure to communicate with especially during emergencies that have come up from time to time over the years. Dr Michael's clinic is highly recommended by our family. I was referred to him by my neighbor about 1.5 years ago for treatment for my toy poodle. His staff is very courteous, and the bills are reasonable. I recently brought him in for grooming (having waited entirely too long in between visits from a major national pet store). Not only did his office do a superb job on his grooming, but I could tell that they were genuinely concerned for my pet (because his hair was so matted). His office went out of their way to rectify the problem. Furthermore, Dr Michael is personable, and enjoys spending time talking to his customers. After returning to the area, we needed to find a vet close to our new home. Michael Animal Hospital took great care of my parent's dog years ago, so, we decided to go there. This was the best decision we made for our dogs, especially for our elderly beagle, Scooby who is twelve years old. Scooby was treated like a king, and most importantly, taken care of and he is pain free now. We, the family were also treated so well by the doctor and his staff. I took my dogs into Michael Animal Hospital for vaccines and a cyst removal. The doctor was very thorough in explaining the procedure and answered all questions. I was able to call and get constant updates on my dog. The staff is very friendly and the office is always clean and organized. Doctor Michael is always available to answer questions and concerns. Went here in a pinch with a semi-emergency feeling scared for my feline and more terrified for my pocket. Luckily, the stars aligned! I took my American Bulldog puppy over there and we had such a positive experience! My parents had also taken their dog, who was unfortunately attacked by a large dog, who later passed. The doctor was wonderful to them and was even kind enough to check her out and put her to sleep, when he couldn't help her. They did all of this FREE OF CHARGE!! I'm very pleased with the service and treatment my dog Honey recieved at Michael Animal Hospital. The doctor is very thorough and reasonably priced. He's not like other vetinarians that charge crazy high prices and tries to add on unnecessary treatments, medicines or procedures. My dog has been there for more than just vaccines, which includes heart worm treatment, high level enzymes. X-rays and gum infection.
