Heard this was a great place to go for ear cropping so I went ahead and scheduled an appt unfortunately my miniature schnauzers ears we cut too short and narrow, they were not able to be posted correctly and never stood up even after continuously trying. Absolutely awful! Don't waste your time. It is absolutely disgusting in there. No acknowledgment when walking in so we didn't know how to check in. After being skipped by several people who have been there before we found out the check in is a line in chairs. And yes there is a line to check in that literally had no one helping it. We finally flagged somebody down for some help. Extremely rude staff, rolled her eyes before coming to talk to us. Ended up leaving. People were already complaining how long they had been waiting. Worst place ever to take your pet!!! Save yourself the time and go somewhere else!! I wait 6 damn hours for them to see my cat once I finally got into the room they told me that they don't know if they could do anything. And then had me waiting for another hour in the room and nobody came. And keep in mind I got there at 8 AM when they opened it's ridiculous. 1st let me say there don't take appointments. Don't try to call because it's a recording and no one answers. If you want to be seen just be prepared to wait for hours. We got there on Wednesday around 11:45 and waiting to check in. The people in the front are so busy checking in, talking to the Vet and calling people to the rooms. I noticed that people came in the morning and checked in and left and came back and still weren't called yet. We actually stayed in the parking lot. We found a shady spot and took a blanket and water for our dog. We finally got called to be seen around 3:30. The Vet came in the room seen our dog which were told that she probably has a swollen or bruised tendon on her paw. Was recommended that we give her some medicine or we can do X-rays. He suggested that it doesn't look broken because she was using it to walk around and just when doing certain things she would lift it up. I liked that they gave us an option. The Vet said allow 10days of rest and the medication and if it doesn't heal we can go back to get the X-rays. Again I love how they gave us the option to decide instead of telling us that she needed X-rays right then and there to get any kind of money. I do feel that the people in the front should be more friendlier or smile a little more maybe they were just so overwhelmed with so much going on. I didn't have to pay an overpriced office visit and medication. I got 3 medications and the office visit came out to $109. So it's like this you want something not overpriced and honest then you have to just suck up the wait time. I would go back again. But I think next time I would wake up really early to check in and wait. Instead of going the time I went last time. read more

Vet and assistants service is great as well as their prices, the only issue here are the ladies at the front desk, they are rude. I understand that sometimes we can have a bad day but they have been rude to other people and to us more than once. I highly highly highly recommend this Butchko!! I have been going here for about 23 years but this time I had a dog who had eaten something and I went to the vet closest to my house and had less of a wait cause I needed to get to work (big dumb mistake) well this vet had told me that my dog had a 50% chance of making it through the exploratory surgery that she has a foreign body and that time was ticking and she only has hours and that it could be cancer when clearly on the x ray she had eaten something . They were also recommending I put her down, she is a 4 year old frenchie I couldn't accept that. I went to Steven and he assured me that it's not that bad and he was gonna see what he can do. He did the dang thing as usual she is so happy playing with a bone as soon as we got home. Steven has his dad's touch when it comes to these animals. I know the wait may be long here but believe me it's worth it. don't make the mistake I did cause I ended up back here anyways he's the best trust me! I'm so grateful for Steven he really is the best! Never gonna waste my time at another vet again. read more

please do not waste your time here. came on a thursday they told me to check in and wait and that they would be with me soon. 8hrs later they call me saying if i am still waiting. come back here a month later with my dog urgently needing help because other clinics were closed they said to wait. my dog died in their waiting room because of how long they took to come to help. please take the time to read reviews and do not spend any more or time here. they were heartless and did not even flinch at the fact my dog died there. they are heartless people only working their 9-5 wanting to get in and out. there are plenty of vets who will care for your fur baby in a heart beat. so many people have said they are awful please reconsider coming here. read more

One of the best vets out there! Staff is very friendly and caring about our Prada. Prada was struggling to pass her stool and was very patient with her.They got her feeling so much better and they're very good with their prices. They are a first come first serve so it's best to be there before 8am especially on Saturdays. Will be coming back to get her and our other furbabies spayed. I've been coming to this place for over 10 years and the staff is super nice especially dealing with the amount of people that come through. Yes they are still in the same old building but it's still functional. Yes you are going to wait long depending on what you're coming in for but to me it's worth the wait. If it's summer time bring an ice chest with water and snacks for you and your animal but recommend to try to come in spring or fall/winter when weather is good. Bring your patience they go in order from the time you check in. I have come from San Diego to have 3 surgeries on my puppy. No appointment necessary. Amazing job on ears and eyes. Costs were half anywhere else. If I lived in Riverside, I would be a regular for my 2 cane corsos. Absolutely the best. If you are wanting elevator music and empty waiting rooms, this might not be your place. I have been going to Dr. Butchko for 30+ years. They do care for the pets they see, but I do believe they can get overwelmed by the amount of customers they have... That said.... Their system of first come first serve is ok, I don't have a problem with that. They have actually extended to check in and we will call you when we are ready for you, I really dont have a problem with that also. They make it clear, that you can leave and come in when they call. I really only had 2 issues with today's visit. When you advertise opening at 8am, OPEN AT 8AM. Not 8:15/8:20. From talking to others waiting, this is very customary, the late opening. Second, once you are done, they should have someone at the counter taking payment. Having to wait an additional 1/2 hr at least to pay for services is a bit much. Overall, Dr. Butchko is still the cheapest and best place for simple vaccinations, etc. I will say, I dont think any of the employees are at fault, as they were all busy and not standing around. It was good to see Mrs. Butchko was still there and in charge as she was 30 years ago. read more

3 stars is solid if you coming here for small things like vaccines, skin allergy etc. I read a handful of reviews and did the same with other vets. They seem to be the best for ear cropping. I have a now 4 month old American Bully and had her ears cropped with Butchko. $495 depending on weight of your pup. Mine was 17.5 at the time, she was 11 weeks old. Not the best ear crop but not the worst. A little uneven on her right her. I won't come back for an ear crop on any of my pups. I'm by Temecula and drive out there because so called he is good. I really wish the staff was more knowledgeable about what's going on on a day to day basis. It seemed no one knew what was going on each time we came by or could give us a clear/definite answer. We drove from Nevada because we wer recommended to dr.Butchko by the owners of our pups parents (who looked beautiful). After driving down We wer told we couldn't get a crop, and then someone else said we could. we tried driving down a second time after calling numerous times and not being able to set up an appointment. We got lucky and wer told they'd be able to take her in the second time around. (After speaking with maybe 3 different people who all told us different things.) But actually meeting the Dr I was relieved he helped me decide what would look best for our pups face and what look we wanted. He did an amazing job. Not a fan of the rest of the staff wish it was easier to make an appointment but we are happy with the results. read more

My dog had surgery at your facility 2 weeks ago. I love 45mins away and have a simple question. However your staff doesn't have the common courtesy to pick up the phone and take a 2 minute call... The wait times are long but it is worth it. The staff are really nice to me and my dog. They helped me get a mass removed from my dogs side and they also did testing on the mass. They called me a week and half later with the results of what kind of mass it was and that it was benign. I wish the hours were a bit longer but I also understand how busy they are as well. There is a lot of preparation with this line of work and I appreciate all the time they put in to each animal that comes through. read more

The best analogy for this place is like Kanye's collab with The Gap where you feel like you're being forced to dig through a pile of clothes in garbage bags. That's what this place is like. They've been operating the same way for so long by not taking appointments, having you wait for hours to be seen only to have to wait more to check out and wait for the prescriptions most came for in the first place. The process is as follows: wait in a long line for about 45 mins to an hour just to check-in only to be told you won't be seen for over 5 hours later. Then when you finally are seen, they bring you into a disgusting room that looks like the morgue only to wait more and then waiting for another hour, plus to get your meds and settle your bill and be on your way. There is NOTHING here that's worth subjecting your pet or yourself to the antiquated way they still continue to run their business. You can't call and speak to them over the phone because they tell you their phones aren't working. If you do call you'll hear a long winded message by Michael, but there's no way to speak to a staff member. They call you from another number then the one they have listed on their site, but there's nothing that's efficient with the way they run things. The clinic reflects a place where there's nothing advanced in veterinary medicine as the floor is so worn you can see the linoleum under it from the 1940's. My recent visit made me so sad to see people that are just trying to take care of their pets, waiting for hours upon hours with people that checked in mid-morning only to be waiting after 7pm to be seen. This place is garbage and their outdated process is a reflection of what they think about YOU as a pet parent and your fur baby. Your time is valuable and it's not worth it to subject yourself or your pet to this place. Last night I waited as long as I could. It was after 8:30pm and I still hadn't been seen. When they finally called me to an exam room, I went in and the table hadn't been cleaned off and as I sat there I felt sick to my stomach, finally got up and left. We brought in three kittens to be seen for their first check up and an eye infection. We waited three hours in our vehicle before being called by phone to come inside to be seen by a doctor. Once in the room, we wait another hour without being seen. We asked what the hold up was and one employee said the Dr. left to get food. We waited a little longer and asked for a time frame to see a doctor and of course they could not give us one. A different employee said there was an emergency and the doctor was called away. This was a five hour waste of time because we left without being seen. I was so embarrassed because I had raved about the Dr. to my friend who actually owns the kittens. The room sink was filthy and they had a dirty stained chair that I would not be caught sitting in. I could not believe the condition of the room or the customer service received. Dr. Butchko's office should be ashamed of the service they provided. You would think they would re-evaluate the way they do business during this pandemic. The current process is awful! read more

This is a great place to get routine pet care at a VERY reasonable price. My frenchie had a cherry eye and they were able to perform the surgery the same day for $265 including medication. Most other places I got a consultation for $600 to $900 and none were able to do it the same day. The staff was very friendly and the technician who saw my pet before surgery did a great job at explaining the process. Be aware that they DO NOT take appointments. I came on a Monday morning and there was a long line with a wait time of 2 to 3 hours. Needless to say, I did not stay. I came back on Tuesday at 1pm and it was only an hour wait before I was seen and my puppy was done with surgery around 4:30pm. Overall, I am happy with the service and comfortable with the level of care they gave my puppy. read more

I've been here two times to get an animal seen that has not been doing so hot. Local places have appointments booked out weeks in advance, so I decided to give this place a chance. The prices are cheap, services can be done the same day, and it seemed pretty okay. That was a mistake. Doors open at 8am. You stand in line outside, and have to wait a minimum of two hours while the doctors arrive "starting" at 10am. That's "starting" at that time, as the doctors sometimes arrive late. The last couple of times that I came in, I didn't get seen until nearly 2-3pm. This was for a regular exam. No surgeries or anything else besides a blood test and X-rays. Then I decided to take my dog to a different clinic. The phone service at this location either doesn't work, or they ignore it until convenient. I tried over the course of a week to get my dog's results and medical chart sent to the other clinic and Butchko didn't pick up at any point that I called them. I had to come in to the office (I live an hour away) just to be told that I have to wait for the doctors to come in to take the X-rays with me. They seemed hesitant to send medical records without the doctor present until I told them they can fax them. I would avoid this clinic like the plague unless you have an entire day to waste in the parking lot or running errands with your sick animal. There's just one problem with that plan: if you do get called to come in, you only have a small window of opportunity to make it inside the clinic and secure your exam. If you miss that window, tough luck. Essentially, you are bound to the parking lot or immediate area. Edit: I confirmed with my other clinic that Butchko never sent a fax despite calling the clinic and receiving their fax number. Very cool. I also had to wait an entire hour just to get copies of my dog's medical charts and the X-rays. DO NOT COME TO THIS CLINIC. read more

Place went to $4it once the main vet passed away. His kids use this for income now. No Fu**s given about your dog. Make sure you have an entire day with nothing to do but sit in the car and wait for them to call you. Just hope they didn't lose your place in like. Mark my words. YOU WILL WAIT 5-6 HOURS EVERYTIME HERE. Also my dog contracted kennel cough and mange here after he was admitted for surgery. My dog has all kinds of problems after coming here. The conditions in the back are terrible. The kept my dog on a dirty blanket. He had wounds on his elbows. The most unprofessional and disgusting veterinarian practice I have ever been to. To start off doors open at 8 AM the veterinarians don't get in until 10 am so after waiting for 2 hours to get in line before opening you have to wait 2 more hours for the vet to actually get there. When you do get in the veterinarian doesn't talk to you at all about pricing, diagnosis, or procedures. They rush into your room, do things to your dog prescribe you medicine and send you to the lobby to wait for who knows how long. You aren't asked about what steps you want to take, the vet shows no compassion or a sign they give AF about your dog. And then to top it all off you have to wait another hour for YOUR PRESCRIPTION!!!! Meanwhile the vet techs are all just hanging around talking to each other. This place has disgusting conduct and no sense of professionalism or compassion. While they charge dirt cheap their services match that quality. Coming here is an extreme waste of time and a disservice to your pets. This place should reconsider their entire practice. Another thing is that there are homeless encampments all around this place. They are fighting each other and doing drugs outside and around the building. I would never recommend this place to anyone who values their time, safety, and pet. read more

I am glad I went with this office because the staff and provider were so friendly and helpful, and the cost of the procedure was very reasonable. I definitely recommend this office to anyone looking to do ear cropping.
