Be careful if you pay cash... I need to address a serious issue regarding my refund from the clinic. After my initial appointment for a breast reduction and a tummy tuck, I was enthusiastic about proceeding with the surgery. Despite this, during my pre-op appointment, I was informed that my BMI was too high, which I believe should have been communicated to me at the very beginning. I scheduled my surgery date and paid in full, assuming everything was in order. Following your request, I allowed you to keep my cash payment while I worked on my weight loss. Now that my insurance will cover the procedure, I requested my refund for the cash payment in the first week of May 2025. However, it's been 45 days, and I still haven't received my money. You've given me multiple excuses: first, you couldn't find my $20,000 payment despite me providing the receipt; second, the person responsible for authorizing payments is out of town; and third, the individual who signs checks is also unavailable. This is unacceptable. I need my refund processed immediately. I can no longer accept a check; I require the funds to be wired to me or for me to pick up the cash in person, as that is how I initially paid. Please respond promptly with a resolution. My patience has worn thin, and I expect this matter to be resolved without further delay. read more

I've been putting this review off for a while now. I think it's important to put my experience out there for others to learn from. I first heard about MH through an acquaintance of mine that had one of the nicest figures I'd seen in awhile. She admitted her breasts were not natural and how she got them done by MH. They looked perfect! MH is the perfect Chicago doctor to get breast implants. Although, I did not become a patient for that. I explored all of my options to improve certain areas of my body and they gave it to me straight. I will say if you don't do your research, they will try to up-sell you on procedures you don't need done. I jumped the gun and agreed to what they advised me. Everything was in a decent range considering a world renowned downtown Chicago plastic surgeon. I would suggest if you want your entire body done (like a friend of mine) it is cheaper to do outside of the US (although more risky if you don't do extensive research) MH is a wonderful soul. He is a bit socially awkward and possibly borderline autistic. I think that's what makes him brilliant as a surgeon. I really enjoy him as a person although my interactions with him were brief and a handful of times. He is obviously an extremely busy doctor. The staff has extremely high turn over. I've been a patient since 2019 and I have seen an array of faces and persons throughout. Although, everyone has always been friendly and helpful. I suspect it's a stressful job and the clients can be difficult (myself included but comparatively mild compared to worst case scenarios). There are two staff members that have been the longest standing there and I pray they don't leave. They only have one medical esthetician named IRINA (my phone loves to all CAPS her name idk why) who has helped me with touch ups and body contouring. I adore Cassie K who is their nurse practitioner who does fillers, botox, etc. She plumped up my lips two years ago and we stopped at the perfect time without the duck like features. You MUST know your limits and she helps with that. They are always honest and helpful with all the work you want to do to help you feel like your best and most beautiful self. They always hook up their staff with work they do to their face and I have seen glow ups where it's not overly done and very natural. MH is all about enhancing your natural features. I'll have to admit it was funny and ironic that one of the first times I was there they played Bruno's "Just the way you are." while sitting in the waiting area. There is 16.00 parking you get validated on the 6th floor. Normally for 2 hours it's 35.00. Make sure to take pictures of where you park. MH is on the 15 floor and one of the 2 elevators only goes to the 12th floor. Overall, I'm satisfied. The high turn over makes things a bit difficult as far as communication and follow up. As a long standing patient/client it does make things easier when you have long standing employees who know the ropes and remember who you are and your situation. I've probably had to reiterate things a few times now to several different people BUT it always gets handled and they seem to always do the right thing when it comes to handling difficult situations. read more

So I healed decently from my surgery. The only thing is i'm left with some pretty large and noticeable scars, along with discoloration from my surgery. I tried to follow up a few times on scar revisions and possible lasers to take away some of the left over hyperpigmentation and was left ghosted. I tried to follow up for an entire year. In hindsight, I should have spent a little more and went with someone else because i'm in a similar, only slightly different boat from where I started. read more

I am writing an updated review in regards to the customer service because I am so impressed with how the office manager handled my Monica called me when she returned from vacation to follow up on my experience. I felt like she was taking my concerns seriously and informed me that changes were made so clients would be updated after 10 minutes of waiting if their appointments running late. I think client service in the waiting room is juat as important as the service you pay for so I appreciate the follow up!! She also offered me a service or skin care kit to make up for the money I lost traveling there. I didnt know what to expect, however take a look at what I received!! Way more than I expected with a hand written card and a beautiful candle. I am so impressed by the personal touch from Monica because its not an experience I usually have! From the moment my consult started, I felt at home with Dr. Horn's team. An office run by women, for women could not be a more empowering experience! I've had a positive experience with every member of his staff. Excellent Experience!  I met with Dr Horn in late November of 2018 to discuss liposuction along with a gynecomastia procedure at the same time. In reading other negative Yelp reviews for Dr Horn stating that he does not come to check on you after surgery was not my case as he for sure came and checked on me. UPDATED REVIEW - Scarred during laser hair removal. ****A couple of days after my review was posted, their office called me in an effort to address my issue, which I appreciate. They apologized and offered me a treatment to see if they can fix the scar. I will go in a few months and will update this review. Original review: Sharon was treating me and she turned the equipment so high, that it burned like hell when I was zapped. I told her and she gave me an ice pack which did little to nothing to relieve from the pain. I even had to stop at the pharmacy near by to get some ointment. Arriving home I noticed that from red it had turned black, like singed! I sent her a photo and she said it'll go away and to keep putting cream on it. 2 years later, it's STILL SCARRED. I'm so mad and feel so stupid that I let this go so easily. I swore off this place and told myself to forget it but talking with some people today theu convinced me I owe it to people to let them know about my experience. I had a BA with Dr. Horn 11 years ago. I remember him being very late (1.5-2 hrs) to surgery, but I was 19 and just excited for my new pair. Outside of some unpleasant long term scarring (keloids, textured scars), I was happy with the results. Fast forward 11 years later, I scheduled a virtual consult cause these babies have bottomed out. The first consult, they called me on the wrong day. The second consult, they never called. The third consult, they called 30 minutes early. The girl on the phone made it seem like an inconvenience that I couldn't talk earlier and hung up without saying bye. Fine. But then of course, no call at 9:30 as planned. Hours later and still nothing. I'm not 19 anymore and would rather take my business somewhere else. Disappointing, but fortunately there are plenty of other doctors out there who I have had nothing but great experiences with so far. I'll be moving on. read more

I am now in search of a doctor to perform a lift with new implants. Please do not waste your money! In addition, Dr. Horn has horrible bedside manner and was just plain rude. Oh my. To be clear, I used this business for laser hair removal and not for cosmetic surgery, but I think my review should speak to the way clients are handled here. Many months ago, I purchased this business' Living Social deal for 6 laser hair removal treatments. I have also dealt with another local business for the same type of deal, completed all my treatments and was very pleased. From the start, this was a bad experience. I called to book my initial appointment and was greeted with possibly the rudest woman on the phone that I've ever spoken to. Just plain nasty. (To be fair, others that I talked at this place to on different occasions could not have been sweeter.) But still, how are you going to deal with the public and just be nasty? It took many weeks to get me in for my first appointment. Aside from the office not being well-marked, that went fine. (Apparently this place goes by "Dr. Michael Horn's office" when the Living Social deal was sold as "Lakeshore Plastic Surgery" and when they called to confirm my appointment, it took me a few to realize who Dr. Horn was--I've never met the guy nor read his name on the special, but I digress.) I had high hopes for this place after my first appointment--the nurse performing my lasering was very quick, nice and professional. I booked a follow-up appointment before I left. Here's where the mess started. Shortly before my 2nd appointment, this office left a voice mail telling me it was cancelled--no explanation why. I called to reschedule, and was booked for the following Saturday, which required shuffling some plans. Minutes before that appointment, I was called to tell it had to be rescheduled, as equipment was down. So we rescheduled for the *following* Saturday, which required shuffling even more plans. Surely enough, that appointment was also cancelled the morning of. Mother of $#@&! By this point, three consecutive canceled appointments makes me wonder if (a) I'm devalued as a customer because I'm using a Living Social special, or (b) if there's really no backup to either the equipment or personnel should something come up. I know at the other spa I go to, that's all they do--if someone is out or if a machine goes down, I didn't just schedule my whole day around an appointment in vain. Just something to be aware of if you're trying to do business with these folks. Living Social refunded my entire deal. I was later contacted through Yelp by another patron who had the same experience. Look up "Lakeshore Plastic Surgery" on here to see those reviews. Oh, and this business left me two more messages after I was refunded to remind me to make a follow-up appointment because "the machine is back up." It was down that whole time?? I can't decide if it's worse that they didn't have reliable equipment when RUNNING A SPECIAL or if that whole machine-down thing was a ruse, and they were just not performing the prepaid appointments. Dr. Horn and his staff are very professional and friendly. I have always felt welcomed when visiting his office. I've had lip fillers done by Dr. Horn for about 7 years now and recently decided to do my smile lines. Everything looks so natural. No one ever knows unless I tell them. I have also received a breast aug years ago and have been very happy with the results. There was minimal bruising and scarring and I was able to get out and about 3 days after. Note: Like the other reviewer, I can only write based on my laser hair removal experience, but based off of this fiasco, I certainly would not trust this place to do surgery on me. I purchased this Living Social deal for laser hair removal because I had a great experience with laser hair removal at a different business. However, my experience at Lakeshore Plastic Surgery was a disaster and I have no idea how they stay in business. The first 2 appointments went OK, but then my following appointment continued to be mysteriously cancelled. Sometimes they would claim the nurse had a personal emergency and other times they would claim the machine was down (yet again). Sometimes the office would call to cancel the day before my appointment and other times they would cancel when I was 15 minutes away! Since I work during the week, I had to schedule for mid-day on Saturdays, so this would completely mess up my schedule for those days. I stuck it out for a while but then they called today to say they were going to purchase a new laser in a couple of weeks and would call to re-schedule me at that time. However, that would put me at over 14 weeks since my last appointment and in order for the procedure to work, treatments need to be performed no more than 8 weeks apart. They should have hired extra staff and bought an extra laser months ago when the problems began. My attempt to do business with this "doctor's" office has been an enormous waste of time and effort. I am done trying to work with them and recommend you do not try either. read more

I had an amazing first time injectable experience ( with i believe Amie) yesterday at this office. She made me feel comfortable and did just what I asked for. I had NO bruising so my boyfriend didn't even know I had anything done!!! (which is JUST what I was hoping for) . He didn;t even notice and i had undereye , folds, and a tiny lip done. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the cost. I know places near by that charge $450 ( of people with similar background, skill, and experience ). Had my first breast aug done about 6 years ago with Doc Horn, when I lay down, my right breast goes very far into my armpit and is much smaller than my left breast. Started noticing it about 6 months post op when they settled. I constantly had to wear a bra for cleavage, and my right breast actually started to hurt and feel uncomfortable. I reached out to Doc Horns office, no response for a longggg time. Then left a review about my botched breasts and finally the office reached out. I went in for a consultation and they agreed to fix my breasts pro-bono. I was so happy because for so long I was very self conscious about them! Which is funny because you should feel the opposite about being self conscious after new breasts! Second surgery for removal and replacement was December 2019. AS SOON AS I WOKEUP FROM SURGERY I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. My surgical plan that we made was 675 CC in my left and 655 CC in my right, which now thinking of it makes no sense because my right was always smaller, but I trusted him, again. After surgery my left one was a lot more swollen that my right, weeks and weeks after still so much bigger and my right one was still sitting further over towards my armpit and significantly smaller. After looking @ my implant card (that they give you after your survey is done to verify your implants) I realized HE PUT THE WRONG SIZE IN MY RIGHT BREAST. My surgical plan and my implant card say two different CCs !! My breast look EXACTLY the same as they did before my second surgery ONLY LARGER NOW. So now I have an even bigger problem. I went and had a consultation at a local plastic surgeon office and they were blown away at how my breasts turned out. My husband was in the waiting room and told me that he felt like my surgery was rushed. My pain meds were missing after my surgery (you bring all your meds with you, and they were in my waiting room then after surgery they weren't) I am so embarrassed and disgusted with my breasts. I shouldn't have trusted to get them done again here. I was a waste of money, time, and effort to try to do something for myself that is supposed to make woman love their bodies more. Not hate them. I can't take my bra off without being uncomfortable, I have to sleep with a bra on so my right breast doesn't go into my arm pit. It's disgusting. I will now have to pay $9000 to have them removed and replaced again!!! Don't waste your time or money. I absolutely recommend Dr. Horn and the entire team. I consulted with 4 surgeons offices to reconstruct/augment my chest and I chose Dr. Horn because I felt the most comfortable and was treated like a friend or family member by the office staff. I was nervous because of the past reviews but I went with my gut and I'm so glad. Dr. Horn is not the most chatty but it took up to my surgery to realize that if he was overtly engaging with all of his patients and provoked a conversation into every superfluous flaw they felt they had and how their life was; he would never get anything done. He is remarkable in his precision, skill, explanation of what he is doing and addressing any concerns - that is what I valued. I couldn't be happier with the results of my surgery, and while Dr. Horn doesn't know my dogs by name; who cares! He has given me a great experience and his team is very accommodating and comforting. While I was there for consults and pre-op appointments with Dr. Horn and his staff I also met with Sharon, an esthetician there. I had initially asked her about laser for some scarring I have and she recommended peels to clarify the skin and smooth it before I jumped into laser. With her recommendation I did 3 peels and am waiting on laser which saves me a ton of money (not common to have someone sell you something less expensive), and after the peels with Sharon I have all but stopped wearing foundation. Sharon is one of the nicest women and she really genuinely cares about her clients. She addresses me by name each time she sees me - even when I'm not there for her! Rana Kennelly is an incredible nurse. She has injected me with Botox several different times, and I have had nothing but great experiences. I'm a 34 year old guy that (dare I say it) is still afraid of needles.
