Ask the Community - Michael J Levi, DPM

Does he accept Anthem Medicare PPO insurance?

Linda Im not sure on second thought. I’m sorry . Please call Kathy at our office and she will help you 9:00am Monday morning. Thank you.

How much is it to remove BOTH sides (right and Left corners) of an ingrown toenail without insurance?

A New Patient Office Visit is $125.00. At the time of the visit the patient's situation will be evaluated and the patient will be informed if there is an additional fee.

Does the Dr. accept Obamacare?

I have found that the only way to be sure if a doctor accepts your health insurance because there are so many plans is to call the insurance companies benefits line and give them the name and address and phone of the doctor. Make sure to write down…

I rolled my ankle last summer and I thought I could just handle the recovery on my own... but 4 months on, my ankle was still 2x the size and constantly bothering me to where I couldn't sleep. Before being totally resigned to having to buy different sized shoes for the rest of my life, I finally asked my primary doctor for a referral, but the clinic recommended had a 4 month waitlist and did not accept my insurance. So I went to my trusty Yelp search and Santa Monica Sports Medicine was the top result, and so I decided to book an appointment. Calling the office was a breeze and I had an appointment within a couple weeks. They kept prompt communication and verified my insurance benefits right away, which amazingly helpful (I've experienced many doctor offices that just leave you on your own and tell you to call insurance yourself before booking an appointment). When I came for my first appointment, I was surprised to be seen by Dr Trumpi herself, because I felt my injury was fairly minor... also I couldn't even say it was a sharp pain, just more an annoyance to daily life. Dr Trumpi took her time with me even though asking lots of questions and I felt immediately comfortable with her and that I was in good hands. She wrote up an exercise plan and walked me through a variety of in clinic treatment options and tailored everything to my comfort level, from massage to electrical stimulation and so on. I continued every couple weeks with her and was amazed how quickly my ankle improved. I no longer was resolved to have to buy different sized shoes! She also started treating me for my chronic back pain -- which again, I never thought was a big deal --just life soreness haha, but I now know it's actually something treatable. Thank you Santa Monica Sports Medicine!

Every single staff member has been wonderful! We adore Stevie! He's been great when we come in for Sports Massage (which is an hour long and so thorough). The staff has been so accommodating with insurance and even if you don't have insurance the out of pocket is SUCH a good deal for all the different types of care you'll recieve! Dr.Trumpi herself is such a wonderful human being and is just the coolest most down to earth person and doctor. I kid you not, the first adjustment/ "back crack" I received from her I was in tears of joy afterwards. I felt amazing and it actually lasted! I can't thank her enough for the difference she's made for us both. We come in fairly regularly for sports massage and adjustments and always look forward to it. Thank you so much to everyone at "Santa Monica Sports Medicine"! I couldn't recommend them more and I'll continue sharing with everyone I know.

I had an incredibly painful shoulder and the staff worked to fit me in to Dr Milstein's busy schedule ASAP ! The Commons office is a very comfortable and inviting space--no hideous straight back chairs lined up in a windowless lobby ! A spacious area with various seating areas and a pleasant front desk staff. Dr Milstein himself is friendly, professional and direct. I have much confidence in his medical assessment and protocol for my very painful shoulder. After years with Kerlan Jobe (now Cedars) the circuitous phone messages to reach a human, the exorbitant wait times to actually see a Dr, the rushed brief visit once an appointment is secured with a doctor, Dr Milstein and his practice are a breath of fresh air !!! Also, very easy parking 100 out of 100 overall score ! P.S. I was even more impressed when the patient prior to me was a world renowned Doctor.

So one year ago he had a rash of almost 25 people that couldn't say more fabulous things about him. Certainly not my experience. To start- the electronic data check in process is predatorily intrusive... It feels like they're feeding all the data into a central WBAN system. Upon arrival, after they were finally pleased with all my signatures and disclosures, 10 minutes passes while he's standing outside door loudly socializing with his assistants about his internet purchases. When he finally walks in and I ask him if he's going to buy the shoes, he gives me a snotty "I don't know, maybe". Contemptuous glare, zero apology. He then went on to behave like a slovenly teenager, angry that I had to nerve to point out I was running late. He made it exceedingly clear that he could care less about helping my painful medical situation and even interrupted the consultation to argue with me about how he had a right to be late & that I should go elsewhere. Arrogant, rude, disrespectful & made us miss the deadline for funding our Spacex ipo.

I cannot recommend Dr. Marc and Dr. Joe at the Stem Cell Institute highly enough…read more After suffering an MCL injury, I was weighing several options, including surgery and wearing a CTI brace. Rather than rushing me toward an invasive procedure, they took the time to truly listen to my goals. As someone who wanted to get back to an active lifestyle and back on the ocean as safely as possible, they carefully explained every detail of my ultrasound scans, the specific damage to my knee, and all of the available treatment options. I never felt pressured. I felt educated. Together we decided on regenerative treatment, giving my body the opportunity to heal itself. Six weeks later, I'm back on the ocean riding my board--something I wasn't sure would be possible so quickly. What impressed me most was their honesty. At my follow-up, they told me I was healing so well that I didn't even need another treatment. That level of integrity is rare. It showed me that their priority is the patient's outcome, not selling additional procedures. I appreciate the time they spent with me, the patience they showed answering my questions, and the genuine care they demonstrated throughout the entire process. They were recommended to me by a friend who had an outstanding experience, and I'm grateful for that referral. Now I'm happy to pay it forward. If you're facing orthopedic surgery or considering your options for a ligament or joint injury, I strongly encourage you to consult with Dr. Marc and Dr. Joe before making a final decision. It may not be the right solution for everyone, but in my case it helped me avoid surgery, get back to doing what I love, and let my body heal naturally. I couldn't be more thankful.

Your suggestion that I spend 3500. for each injection of stem cells (called jelly by you) would be ridiculous and only serving to enrich your bank account. Unfortunately you were not honest and I find you repulsive. STEM CELLS CANNOT REGROW CARTILAGE. When the cartilage disappears, then bone starts to take it's place - hence where you get the term "bone on bone." I would have been a better and more honest doctor than you anyday.
