I just had knee surgery. I had looked at the reviews posted on this site and noted several complaints about the staff. I could not have a more different opinion. Jeanne and Lisa were absolutely wonderful for me. I was paranoid that my insurance would not cover the surgery and Jeanne went out of her way to make sure the insurance problem was straightened out. My surgery had to be rescheduled last minute as I had another medical emergency and again the office staff was wonderful. To the people that wrote negative reviews... it takes both parties to have positive relationship. read more

I am officially two years post op and officially pain free. I have been a patient of Dr. Ravalin's for a couple years now and he TRULY is as good as they claim. I had a partially torn labrum and a very large joint capsule that tightened up. His bed side manner is great and was rooting for me every step of the way during my recovery journey. Try to schedule your follow up appointments early; they accidentally left me in a room because my name got prematurely checked off and everyone went out to lunch. The medicial staff is great. Dr. Ravline is wonderful. Kathy is patient and knowledgeable. They recently relocated from Monterey Spine and joint which is where I became a patient. My main issue is with the staff. The person managing appointments Lisa is a complete nightmare, she is rude, condescending, not helpful and not professional. It is really terrible scheduling appointments or even asking questions. I have never felt so disrespected in my life. read more

I am 17 months post shoulder ( biceps tenotomy, tendodesis, subacromial decompression and labral and subacromial decompression ) surgery. I have less ROM and more discomfort at certain angles than pre-surgery. 5 post surgery office visits ( 2 with PA not Dr. Ravalin ) offered no help for pain and discomfort. I had to demand to see Ravalin not a PA twice. On my last office visit, I was told that another MRI might be advisable!! 4 months at Performance PT ( Ravalin's recommendation ) were not sufficient to improve my condition to a pre-surgery level. I have been referred ( by my primary MD ) to Ryan Ranch Physical Therapy ( of Monterey ) . Three weeks in treatment with Will Cramer and I am showing signs of increased ROM and less pain at certain angles. Superior techniques and overall PT working knowledge! Recommendation: Take the time and go to Stanford Medical Center for this type of Orthopedic surgery. Call it a second opinion or just a safe bet. read more

Dr. Ravalin has been my primary surgeon since August of 2015. He repaired my right distal bicep tendon, my left distal bicep tendon, and my left distal tricep tendon. Me being a competitive bodybuilder and weightlifter, he has repaired me spot on. I have zero issues with normal day activities and training. His post-surgical procedures are great. His method to starting the post surgical rehab goes against most others, yet it's the most effective. His staff is the best, and I couldnt have picked a better team of experts to repair and fix my body to its 100% working order. read more

Dr. Ravalin and his team are awesome! I recently tore my meniscus and lucked into seeing Dr. Ravalin. He was very personable, good at listening to my concerns, and he as thorough with his explanation as to what he suspected was going on with my knee. A week later, he reviewed my MRI report and it was conclusive that I did in fact tear my meniscus. 2 days later, he operated on me. 2 weeks later, I was feeling terrific! Office policy that your first appointment is with the PA- She will call the shots on whether you need to see the Doctor or not! This doesn't work too well, when you want to see a specialist and you can only see their assistant- not because of scheduling either! read more

Dr. Ravlin is a slick, self assured surgeon. He will tell you anything before surgery and then do what he wants. He was ONE HOUR late for my wife's shoulder surgery and could only offer more surgery and pain meds for pain that lasted 6 months post surgery. I just switched to Dr Ravalin after a bad experience with my previous Orthopedic (Dr Ushiba in Salinas). I liked Dr Ravalin as soon as he walked into the room, and he was very thorough in his exam and explanations. He went through the original images I brought with me in a way no one had done yet, and he ordered a new MRI to check on injuries that weren't healing very quickly. I felt very comfortable and confident with him. He is out of my insurance network, but worth the extra cost to me as I have leg and knee injuries that need proper care to walk again. He seems to specialize in sports injuries and focuses on knees, ankles, and I think also elbows and shoulders. I would happily recommend him to anyone falling under his specialties. Note: the office has moved across the street and is now at 12 Upper Ragsdale. read more

Dr Ravelin was recommended to me by my existing physical therapist for a deteriorating knee condition. I was able to schedule an appointment at a decent time but the parking lot was quite full, on a sloped section of Ryan Ranch. Thankfully my regular physician had seen fit to get me a letter for an ADA placard but still, I had to drive around until a handicapped spot opened up. Twice during visits I spent more time with his physician's assistant than with him. If I'm referred to a doctor then I want that person to see that specialist not someone with a lesser education. She was very nice and knowledgeable but I want the service & expertise I am paying for. Once I met with Dr Ravelin, he did my exam and I was fine with his explanation of the situation. He determined that physical therapy specifically for my knee might be very beneficial for the short term - which it was for a while. My other option was for surgery but he didn't think I was quite at that point. However other than one follow-up appt, several weeks later to see how my PT had progressed, there has been no further contact from that office. I would think that they would at least send a card annually or call or otherwise survey their patients to see how they are doing. If that step had been taken, I might not now be seeking another surgeon while I face surgery to permanently repair my knee. The discomfort remains and it does interfere with my ability to do most normal things. I can't take a walk unless I wear a custom leg brace and that has not proven to work out well for a full day of use. Due to ongoing inflammation, something more drastic is in order. Surely once one establishes a patient relationship there is some level of care or concern that a doctor has an ethical obligation to provide. read more
